I also wonder how people figure out who worked on specific scenes. Are there credits that list who worked on which timeframes? That's something I'm really curious about. That said, holy shit at that second link. He really is topnotch. I mostly think about his distinctive character designs but he really can animate. I don't think he did the mecha scenes though in 14 judging by 7th's comment.
I'm not one who usually can recognize cuts by specific animators, but some do and that has been a faithful form of knowing (credits can also help, because habitually the first on the 'key animators' list is the one with a bigger contribution made on the episode, and it goes successively from there). Trusty image-boards users, sometimes specialized magazine's articles, and lately comments made on social networks by people involved on the project, or simply colleagues that say it, have been even more accessible ways to catch that information.

Sometimes, an animator can have a so fairly distinctive trait it seems easier to place his work on; for example, on the second '.GIF' you have included on your previous post about the series in question, that kind of 'cubic' effects animation on the exploding soil/snow can practically give away those were cuts handled by YUTAPON (and, if I remember correctly, part of the character animation on that scene was worked on by Sushio).

It's always nice to see Oshii dump a much needed bucket of shit on Miyazaki. He's always so honest about it too.
emot-blush.gif
It is kinda fascinating to see his criticism of Miyazaki especially with the backdrop of the cult of personality that's formed around him. Miyazaki movies sell for no other reason nowadays other than the fact that its Miyazaki making them.
That back-and-forth always reminds me of 'The Con Where Anime Died'.

In Japan? I'm not really sure. He was probably really well known after Nausicaa and Cagliostoro which is why he decided to put up his own studio. Although I think it has to be Totoro or Laputa that made him synonymous with anime.
I would be more inclined to believe the "inflexion" point that made his work one to be followed by the masses was My Neighbor Totoro. On home-video releases mainly, Grave of the Fireflies probably scared some people away from them!

It's legit. There's a two-page teaser spread in this month's Newtype, almost all text but with no real details of any sort, only a bunch of comments about Imaishi from other people he's worked with over the years, saying they're looking forward to the new project, and the full reveal set for the June issue. It does give us this mysterious sketch though...
I hope it comes for the Fall season... there needs to be more TRIGGER Inc., presence on this year!

Maturity, bitches.
I thought the Japanese government were going to do something about Kirito's and Asusna's positions in the poll after they got round to weakening the Yen.

The favourite episodes list is interesting. Vividred's first ep tops the list - it was a pretty good episode, although I found the second one remarkably boring - but there's some more surprising entries there. Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman at #2, and Amnesia creeping in at #10, were things I didn't expect to see there.

Oh, thank you for the correction re: Ryochimo's first professional work! I must admit there is a certain similarity between his style and Osamu Kobayashi's so I can see them being a good fit together. Ryochimo does a lot more action work, though, whereas Kobayashi seems more interested in working in "reality".
Maybe it even was Mr. Kobayashi, as GAiNAXer/friend of the studio, who suggested him to send them an application or something like that! I love his passion, and I think Natsu no Sora seriously needs more people aware of such good work... I wish that what I thought would be him (at last) working on his own series at GAiNAX would have been true! A shame he will probably be remembered as "the guy who did that strange Gurren-Lagann's 4th episode", when he has style in spades. Time to post again his Breathless cool rendition:

Pretty good so far. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the music choices, style's not really what I'm used to but it's still fun. They get the main character pretty well

But doesn't Funimation do more Dub stuff with their streaming?

Any good recommendations for what is on the site?

So far the only thing I have discovered and liked is The Pet Girl of Sakurasou.

Good anime on crunchyroll:
Angel Beats
Blast of Tempest
Brave10
Hakkenden
Heroman
Arcana Famiglia
No.6
Phi Brain
Reborn
Sket Dance
Star Driver
Sekaiichi Hatsukoi
You and Me
Tsuritama

Futari wa Pretty Cure might be the only installment in the franchise to ever actively acknowledge just how annoying mascots are. Nagisa finally cracks in a scene with some humorous faces capturing her escalating disgust as the mascots incessantly shout their verbal tics at each other:

Oh, did I mention that the episode immediately turns around and reveals that
one of the mascots belonged to Honoka's grandmother in her youth and supplied her with courage to continue living after her town was firebombed into ashes during WWII in an incredibly :firehawk backstory scene
? The complete lack of expectations for what the franchise was supposed to be in this first installment really produces some unique stuff sometimes.
The first season of precure sure used a lot of things that they ditched afterwards. As smile evidenced, if you do an episode with a grandmother, it's going to be light hearted as possible.

Thank God we no longer have to deal with subs like this.
Actually this sub present perfectly how mepo is talking in such an horrible way.Another good thing they let go afterwards because adding an ending sentece every second make the whole sentece so hard to follow ( or to translate ). And there is nothing wrong to call a daruma a daruma

If anyone had an doubts about the yuri being canon this episode should silence them for good. Pretty fun episode! I'm also starting to warm up to Mochiyucky now which certainly helps.

He will never leave.
Oh I know. Just let me dream!

Lol, episode seven is the reason I'm posting it here. If I remember correctly, everyone listed for episode seven is a pretty big name. Takemoto and Kigami are also on eight and nine, so those should be good too.

I didn't realize Yoshida and another scriptwriter had been alternating, to be honest.

I really liked this episode. Maybe because it makes me think about my school, but also because I liked how everything was presented. The gentle wind in the background, Nao's feverish delusions, the travel plans... it all worked really well. Most of the episode was a conversation in a single room, but patient directing and small flourishes made it come together really well. It did a great job of capturing the difference between being a kid, being the adult you could be, and actually being an adult.

Since someone brought up "helpful" subtitles earlier.

The more episodes I watch, the more I adjust to the show's rhythm. It's nice.

Nafe and Regulus mentioned it while I was skimming through the thread, the former in particular gives me reason to believe it's legit.
I hope it is at least trejo the one who can notice my congratulations, because you didn't... (._.)

Of course! Mr. Ishidate appearances/credits as storyboard artist are like events on itself. Now, how about some work from him as animation director, Kyoto Animation?

Become a puppy and girls might give you chocolate.

Reminds me how my daughter used to spell it coclt. If there wasn't a scribble next to it I'd have had no idea what she was trying to write.

All communities are toxic to some degree.

Deep. In the shower this morning I was thinking about how hakase characters are a memetic evolution of fushigi. (Sufficiently advanced science is magic.) So that led me to the differences between American 'geek girl' and Japanese 'fujoushi.' Anyway, what I'm getting at is in a perversion of 'there is someone out there who will love you for who you are' there is equally, 'everyone is razors to someone some where.' Like the image of Edward scissorhands but with that straight blades everywhere. Like if your razors to some guy you like than the best thing you can do for them, short either changing their basic character, is to stay away. Toxic relationship out the door.

Razors is my pet concept about how everyone is a disposable razor handle. Some legs we cut to shit, some legs we help keep them smooth, some legs don't give a shit about what we do and want to stay hairy; but at the end of the day we want to sell enough razor blades to make a profit.

Look at the cornering on that horse! Let's bring it back in the shop; I think we can get some more power out of that engine by switching to carrots and improve the control in a drift with some custom horseshoes.

She had a Vividred operation.

Is Grizzly's VA someone from Jojo? His voice rings a bell.

Grizzly is the best character in the show by the way. A true bro when you need him, and also the nicest guy. ;_;

[Neon Genesis Evangelion] - 13

This was no less engaging, but it was certainly a more self-contained story. Uh-oh, technology is fallible yet again, as the aforementioned Magi is now the weak-point that the newest Angel attack looks to exploit. I know I offhandedly mentioned this during my episode 11 impressions, though I’d be lying if I said I envisioned this!

There was definitely a different feeling to this episode, as it built up the eventual appearance of the virus itself. In fact, it pretty much starts out like a standard episode; with the premise of the crew carrying out tests on the Evangelion primed for a little light relief (everyone is naked!). All of which turns out to be a neat conceit to allow for Akagi to take centre stage, as the sudden attack leaves everyone indisposed.

Typically it’s the AI that is portrayed as being an imperfect imitation of the human psyche, but here it seems a better approximation than a number of the cast. The irony of which isn’t lost on Akagi, who acknowledges this, but instead takes refuge in science. Speaking of which, Gendo’s doctrine seems increasingly nihilistic the more I hear about it. “"The ultimate end of evolution is self-destruction." Feeds into his earlier assertion that “this is a purified world”. Erm, and there I was thinking he was simply a hard-nosed leader.

I’ve always found the threat of an “invisible war” to make for good horror, and it only continues to become more pertinent as time goes on. And no more is this relevant than in this universe, where it’d be no exaggeration to say that they such a scenario would bring civilization to its knees. The nature of the virus just makes me wonder how the Angels will adapt further, and I get a real kick out of seeing how twisted their appearances have gradually become. I'm really eager to see if the curtain will be pulled back on what they really are.

Tsuki~~~~.

That was so good. It wraps up the arc in the perfect
"it's raining today even though it's sunny outside" manner that you'd expect, and more interestingly, sets up yet another piece for the end game that will probably come 20 years from now (or whenever Srorachi decides to call it). Every time they keep expanding the scope of the end game and the world and all it does it just build up hype over and over again. We already saw what happened when the two police forces fought against each other... you can only imagine what the rematch will be like when everything is on the line during the end game.

Also, no episode preview, so I guess cosmic was right. :(

Look at all that fucking bullshit.
Complete list of "fucking bullshit" here:

These readouts are sometimes used as a weapon to argue about the gender of the EVAs, you know... supposedly with them having prostates and all that! Overall, good arguments to check about, though (http://forum.evageeks.org/thread/9863/Unit-01s-Dangly-Parts/... be advised; spoilers ahead on that thread's discussion).
