Krokodil, the terrible Russian street drug, has arrived in the U.S.

Guys, the reason Krokodil even exists in those other countries is because codeine is legal there. There is literally nothing to worry about. Only idiots will try this.

The kids in Arizona had to drive down to Mexico in order to get codeine to make this. They wasted time and energy and probably spent more than it would cost to get heroin anyway.
Sooo then why not just take codeine? I have codeine pills for migraines and that shit will get you high.

I understand that heroine addicts aren't concerned with their long term health but I just don't get it. Do the hydrocarbons really make a difference in the effect vs. just codeine alone?

There is no way this could be confused with heroin if some of the ingredients are liquids.

They do not just dump in these products and inject them. They put them through a series of reactions like on breaking bad with meth to make a strong opiate like heroine.. It is said to be 8-10 times stronger than morphine.

It's real name is Desomorphine. The process used with the chemicals makes it impure and way more toxic resulting in the horrible body breakdown with continual use.

dave is ok

Part of it is probably that codeine alone just isn't a good enough high for people with large tolerances to the much stronger drug, heroin.

Also - while codeine is legal I doubt they can get it in a pure form, probably comes mixed with caffeine, aspirin, etc.

This drug doesn't exactly rot away flesh, the problem is that if you inject the thing outside the vein it will give you gangrene because the product is not really made in the most sanitary conditions. The drug must have other nasty effects if is injected correctly into the vein though, for sure, but not rotted flesh.

It's one of those lowest of the lowest drugs, used only for people who are in the bottom already.

cause codeine is weak and the amount of time put into extracting the acetaminophen you'd rather make it into something more powerful than just straight up taking codeine.

Also your avg. codeine pills for migraines only has 15mg of codeine in there. Its normal for recreational drug users to use amounts closer to 100-150mg while addicts will be pushing 300mg and I've heard reports of higher dosages..

Opiate addiction is pretty serious. Definitely needs to be more education on opiates. Needs to be more injection centres. Of course convincing addicts that the centres aren't just a big police operation would be another thing..

Well, it took a couple years to get the courage to satisfy my curiosity to look at pictures of this. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to throw up.

I never really saw a reason why people would use krokdile in the US. Heroin, and other opioid supply seems fine. I wonder if producing krokdile would be much cheaper.

The name of this drug always sounded like the name of a pokemon...
I dont understand why would someone take this drug; rotting flesh sounds and looks ver painful.

so uh... does your skin ever grow back?

Just imagine going home late at night, you see a homeless guy, begging for some cash with skeleton arms.

I don't know how mild it can get, but I just assume they amputate limbs where it's gotten to the point of going off the bones. I imagine if it's just surface level stuff they could at least put a skin graft there.

I swear this drug is the biggest case against the idea of full legalization of drugs. There has to be a limit SOMEWHERE, and the limit should at least be kept at drugs you can't recover from short term use of.

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
Pretty much. Its something even your average crack head and heroine addict would look down on as 'pretty screwed up'.

Your average crackhead or junkie would take it in a heartbeat if they couldn't score their drug of choice.

Hey guys let's inject ourselves with gasoline!

Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?

Same reasons people huff glue/spray paints or chug listerine or any of those other kitchen sink drugs: Anything for a cheap quick fix when you're addicted and desperate and out of options. It's a sad state of affairs.

Your average crackhead or junkie would take it in a heartbeat if they couldn't score their drug of choice.

The bottom of the barrel sinks further with each passing century.

I would say it's a big case in favor of legalization, considering nobody would touch this shit except for random "thrill seekers" if other stuff was more accessible. Hence my reference to Prohibition earlier in the thread - people were drinking poison because they couldn't obtain real booze.

To all people in this thread saying why would you take this drug, (let me answer this for russia) there are regions so rural/poor in Russia that they dont have supplies of 'normal' drugs like coke, crank, heroine etc.. that they are left with making stuff like this.

There is also a sort of drug now very popular is southern Europa that is also very cheap but highly destructive. extreme poverty usually leads to this kind of stuff.

It's like some sort of super-villain drug a screenwriter would make up. Gets you high and turns you into a crocodile. Seriously guys, there are so many drugs that don't make your flesh rot, you'd think you could get by without it.

This is one of the very rare things on gaf that I won't follow up with a Youtube or image search.

It's really scary what people do for a high, especially when faced with such gruesome results.

Well, it's why I said FULL legalization and thought a reasonable baseline was basically if you could recover from a relatively short period of usage (read: not lifelong in which case only caffeine survives anyway), I get the impression you CAN recover from a lot of the more popular drugs, or there's not even any recovery really needed in the case of something like marijuana. But this? Fuck it and fuck the people who make it.
