Based on the PC versions of their games we can tell that Codemaster's engine is a poor fit for the architecture of current gen consoles, they're going to need a while to adjust.
True it'll likely take awhile, just surprised we now likely jumped the ship to next gen and yet games are still coming out for last gen.

Racing game screens are usually so photo-shopped that you can't really tell what's next gen and what's not, it's pretty ridiculous at this point.

Eh, those screens look legit. They look like Dirt 3/Grid look like on PC. Of course it's not what they looked like on a 360.

Actually they look worse than Dirt 3 on my PC. Low LOD levels, low AF. Weird.

The fuck?

Wasn't GRID 2 just released a year ago? Are they moving the series onto yearly iterations now? It was 5 years in between GRID 1 (early-ish 360/PS3 gen) and GRID 2 (end of the 7th gen).

Looks like Codemasters is milking the GRID franchise this time around, just like they did with the DiRT franchise.

Last gen sales beg to differ.
I feel like when stuff like this is said the fact that last gen console owners have hundreds of games to play, versus next gen console owners who have a decent amount of digital titles to play, but very limited retail/non indie titles to play, is downplayed. Next gen console owners are hungry, people still playing on last gen consoles/PC only are fed. If some people had it their way every game from 2010-2014 would get a current gen port.

The demand for next gen software doesn't completely diminish last gen software demand.

Next gen owners are hungry for games but that is a valid point as to WHY it would sell on them.

Either way, if someone wants to see what the game would look like on a next gen console, just get it on the PC. It will look and run better anyways.
