Diablo III PS3/360 |OT| Bringing Hell to consoles

Hey D3 console GAF. I just got the game last week for the PS3 and definitely excited about the save being carried over to the PS4 version. Started playing as a Barbarian and ended up beating the game on Normal. I'm at level 35 now and I started my nightmare play through.

Any tips for me while I try to get my guy to level 60?

Just keep grinding. I'm in Inferno, not sure if there's a point now that I'm 60 except to level Paragon for the expac. Achievements, I suppose, so I'll no doubt finish Inferno just to say I did, before it goes away. Pining for news on the release of RoS. Think we'll stick with this thread or start a new one, for next-gen and all?

Yeah trying to run through the game right now. Hopefully will get him to inferno 60 soon enough.

Finally announcing a date, that's good. Now:

Tell us about character import.

Tell us about upgrade paths for those of us that already own D3.

This has already been confirmed I thought?
Yeah, I made that comment before reading the press release.. hehe. They can still tell us about upgrade path, though.

I bumped up to Master I for farming on Inferno and suddenly I'm getting my ass kicked by elites. Even environmental damage like fire pits, that I pretty much ignored even on Hard (I could run right into them and my life bar would barely twitch), can now one-shot me if I stay in contact for more than half a second or so. It's kind of discouraging.

I just got to inferno mode, I might just do it on Medium but ive played Master I before and I couldn't do it. It gets annoying and frustrating while spending too much money on repairs as I died a lot.

Finally about to get my first level 60. I've been pulling a lot of Blacksmith tomes in Hell. But my question will I get Books of Secrets dropped in Inferno?

And yes I'm playing on PS3. Willing to trade or contribute to anyone.

I get the vibe post-launch support looks unlikely for the UEE.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13272817274?page=3#57

We're still working out all the details regarding if and how Ultimate Evil Edition will be supported post-launch (e.g. will we patch the game after it ships? if yes, should we only patch to fix bugs and address critical game issues, or should we patch in new content as well? at what frequency should we patch?), so we don’t have an answer for you right now. That said, I can confirm that UEE will ship on all platforms with all updates included up to patch 2.0.5, and that there will likely be a “Day 1” patch to add in patch 2.0.6 content, too.

As we move closer to ship and finalize our post-launch patching plans, we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Great question, though!

Would be pretty shitty of Blizzard to leave this game to die.

It'll be disappointing if we don't get any DLC that's released. Makes me much less likely to go day one on the digital version (which is what I'd planned), in favour of picking it up physically so that I can trade in.

CMs are getting a bit more talkative lately.

re: Paragon levels with data transfer.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13465916499#4
Things will work a bit differently than how the transfer from Paragon 1.0 to Paragon 2.0 worked on PC. If you transfer your save file to Ultimate Evil Edition, you will actually retain your current Paragon level that was earned playing Diablo III on console.

re: XB1 and 360 multiplayer.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13423182477#3
I saw this thread and thought it was pretty interesting, so I went ahead and asked around about it.

Microsoft has made some changes to the Xbox One that will now allow mixed multiplayer co-op games (i.e. games with both Gold and Silver members) to take their game session online. This is how local co-op games on the Xbox One version of Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition will work, as well. The only requirement is that the profile with the Gold membership will need to confirm that the Xbox One being used is that profile’s Home console.

I should point out that this is unfortunately not possible with the Xbox 360, and everyone playing in a local co-op game on an Xbox Live account will need a Gold membership in order to take that game session online. In light of that, local co-op parties created for UEE on the Xbox 360 that include both Gold and Silver members will not be able to play online. You can, however, play along with a Xbox Live Gold Account using a Guest account on Xbox 360, but you will not be able to keep your save data.”

The latter point essentially confirms the game is playable offline in case there was any question remaining.

The former point is a bit disconcerting, as it does call into question how well they think they have rebalanced the XP level requirements and distribution in earning it; on its face, it either means that getting up to PL800 is going to be basically impossible or that the process of earning PL in vanilla has essentially been neutralized (likely the latter).

Would be pretty shitty of Blizzard to leave this game to die.

I will be honest with the way 2.1 is shaping up it might not be a bad thing at all. 2.1 is a complete mess right now and if it comes to consoles I want it to be down the road. After they can get stats from PC players and balance it properly for consoles. Some of the highlights of 2.1 are making the worst class even worse monks. Taking the horrible life on hit and making it 10x worse by turning it to life per case for certain spells and skills. Other skills don't even get life per cast like explosive blast a ROS wizard staple. The upgrading of legendary gems is a mess since it is RNG. Getting legendary amulets is a complete mess thanks to the nerf on drop rates on keys and organs.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13421592048

Life on Hit has undergone a number of changes, and it can be little confusing at first. I'll go over how LoH is currently working on the PTR, but it's also good to keep in mind that it's still subject to tuning.

The bullet-point basics:

You gain your Life on Hit amount per cast, so long as you're doing damage.
The amount healed per cast does not change based on the number of targets hit.
You continuously gain a portion of your Life on Hit value while channeling.
We're increasing LoH on items by another 100%, and LoH in Paragon by 50% in an upcoming PTR build
We're aware that this needs tuning, particularly with large packs of monsters, or those with Reflect Damage.

More long-form explanation:

Currently in the live game, you’ll receive Life On Hit when an ability hits an enemy, and then that mechanic is run through the proc coefficient of the ability itself. As a general rule, this means that many AoE skills give very small amounts of Life On Hit vs. single targets, and you typically get large amounts of Life on Hit against multiple targets.

We want players to be able to heal consistently at the times you need it most: Boss fights and Elite fights. To support this, we’re altering some of the conditions of Life On Hit. Life On Hit will now trigger once per ability activation as long as that ability requires an animation*. This means casting Magic Missile, Frozen Orb, and Blizzard all provide the same Life On Hit per cast. Channeled spells provide an equivalent amount of healing over any given period of time to non-channeled spells.

Not only does this allow you to gain more Life when you’re attacking a low number of targets with AoE skills, it provides more consistent healing between various skills, and it also separates Life On Hit from the proc system. This last benefit is important as it means we can be more generous with allowing Legendary items to proc various effects.

All of that said, there is still some tuning to do now that we’ve adjusted how Life on Hit works. We’ll be keeping an eye a close eye on it, and continue to make the necessary adjustments to get it in line with where we want.

*Attacks that deal damage, but don't animate (like Overpower, or Frost Nova) do not trigger Life on Hit. The intention is to prevent double LoH procs per animation cycle since these skills can be cast while attacking, or channeling.

Yeah I'm not quite sure what mentality is behind the LOH changes at all. Potions with cooldowns never have been or will be a reliable life recovery mechanic, and leech is gone. LOH is the only thing that is left, and there's precious few skills which really have ever justified its use. These changes are a universal nerf unless LOH starts rolling 5 digit values. I just don't get it, nor why they feel these changes are necessary now as opposed to any time in the previous years.

Hopefully the GR board will get cleared again and the effects keep people pinned down to the mid 20s at best, which will either prompt further changes or rollbacks (or may be more what Blizzard has in mind for the game's limits to begin with...)

re: BOA rules, Gifting
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13348455222?page=3#52
Some items will still be Account Bound (like pre-order bonuses, for example). With that, when playing in a local co-op game, loot will be flagged when it drops for specific players in the group. For example, if Player 2 is a Demon Hunter and Player 1 is a Wizard and a pair of pants drop that have stats a Wizard would benefit from, the item will automatically be flagged for P1. Even if P2 runs over to loot the pants, they will go to P1’s inventory anyway. This helps streamline the experience of sorting through loot drops.

Additionally, when Legendaries drop, there is a chance a Player Gift will drop for someone on your Xbox Live or PlayStation Network friend’s list that also plays Ultimate Evil Edition, which you can send to them via the in-game Mail system either directly from your Inventory or at the Mailbox. The Player Gift will be targeted (i.e. it’ll roll as smart loot) to the character your friend chooses to open the Player Gift on.
So the news to glean from that is that you won't know what the gifts will be until the recipient receives it. That's interesting.

The console specific stuff looks really damn good. I do think it is great I can't see the item before I mail it. That way it is a surprise for you and your friend. I wonder if these can be torment only legendary items. The nemesis system I really like very cool I can avenge a friends death. Also in the video we saw all the console boosts to help with exp and run speed were awesome. I look forward to see how big of a kill streak we can get and how much exp we are rewarded with. I took off the launch week so hopefully we can grind out bounties together. The console team appears to be a great job this time around on the game. I hope they get a chance to do 2.1 right. Since the PC team has completely gone off the deep end to be honest.

I am a spectral blade wizard to. The best build I found is spectral/healing,bizzard/stark, magic weapon/life steal,familiar/spark,explosive blast/chain,energy armor/prismatic. Passives critical mass, blur and cold blooded. Cast blizzard then chop them up with blades use explosive blast for burst damage against elites or clear a lot of monsters at once. The key is getting the right gear to get enough defense to stand in about anything and continue to blizzard and blade. Blur and energy armor help a ton to get to 5500 armor and 1k resists. The healing from blades and magic weapon are enough you don't need a life steal weapon. So can have a lot more weapon options.

Just wrapped up a Diablo III PS4 hands-on press appointment. They confirmed today that it will support cross-manufacturer save transfers (Xbox 360 to PS4 and PS3 to Xbox One).

Amazingly you can still find people playing this online.

Although my last game the guy had hacked weapons that one shot everything on Master IV.

Kind of takes the fun out of it.

That is why I don't play public games. Either there is a modder at the start of the game or 1 shows up. There are some people here who play legit. I am just trying to get exp fast and so that means solo for me. I am closing in on level 99 under 50 million to go. Feel free to add me if you are getting UEE for the PS4 dirtgnap . Hopefully there are a lot here who get the game so have more people to play with at the start.

Good news reading the description of the pre-order on PSN it sounds like a pre-load game since unlocks at midnight PST. I now can get digital this pay day so can play soon as I wake up the 19th.

I added you on PSN some time, but don't see you on much.

My WD is boring, just running around gathering mobs and spamming CoB, hopefully UEE opens up some new builds. I have other level 60s I mess around on now for the most part.

It seems the higher the difficulty the worse drop rate for me.

I am on a ton have gotten 90-98 in last 6-7 weeks or so that is a ton of time. I just go offline a lot because not many want to do pure EXP runs since they are short. It is basically only 4 areas in act 3. 2 areas to get stacks and 2 best exp areas crossing-keeps 2. If you want to do pure exp runs just send me message when you see me. I only go offline for D3 but stay online for PSN. So I should show up.

I will be online a lot with UEE so I can run split bounties with people and share the costs of opening rifts with others.

Build diversity is the biggest issue with the expansion for the most part. At best a class has 2 builds for higher difficulty levels. Witch doctor has jade or pet builds.

Drops are just so random but I did seem to get more at lower difficulty levels. I commented on that earlier in this thread.

Darn, I wanted to know if it has separate trophy set fro PS3 and PS4?
The trophy sets are separate.

Wonder when we'll start seeing the hype for the Ultimate Evil Edition? Less than three weeks to release.
Probably the week prior (August 10 - 17). Reviews will start coming out, Last of Us Remastered will lose its novelty, and the lull in Destiny between beta ending and release will be strongest at about that point.

Just wrapped up a Diablo III PS4 hands-on press appointment. They confirmed today that it will support cross-manufacturer save transfers (Xbox 360 to PS4 and PS3 to Xbox One).
A CM post about this also confirms that transfer of PC to any console will not happen, which is good to have fully established as it will certainly be asked about in the future:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13660715952#6
Just to confirm, in an upcoming console patch for PS3 and Xbox 360, we'll be enabling what we're calling "cross-brand" or "cross-generational" transfers for Ultimate Evil Edition. As the name suggests, these transfers will allow players to copy their character save data across brands and across platform generations.

We'll have more details to share once the patch is live, including how to complete a transfer with step-by-step instructions and how Battle.net account linking works. In the meantime, here's a quick list of what's supported:

PS3 > Xbox One
Xbox 360 > PS4
PS3 > PS4
Xbox 360 > Xbox One

The goal of cross-brand/cross-generational transfers is to support players who may have switched brands when next-gen systems were released for PlayStation and Xbox, but don't want to leave their progress from original Diablo III behind when upgrading to Ultimate Evil Edition.

As a follow up to that, please note that the following cross-platform transfers will not be supported:

Xbox 360 > PS3
PS3 > Xbox 360

For same-platform upgrades to Ultimate Evil Edition (PS3 > PS3 and Xbox 360 > Xbox 360), your character save data will be automatically loaded once the game is installed. No additional steps needed!

Of course this does NOT mean we'll be able to use our PC characters on console.
Correct. :)

Thinking about the cross platform saves Blizzard really blew a chance to make a online mode only for those who want legit games. Since you need to link your battle.net account to your PSN/XBL the save must upload to their servers. When you converted your save or started a new game they could of had an option to make the save online only. For those converting old saves they would need to strip characters of every thing but levels. They could of left the off line mode for those who want to play that way. Would of been a great opportunity to get rid of the dupers/modders online. Would it of sucked to give up all the stuff I collected over 99 paragon levels yes. But it would be worth it to start fresh and have public games with out cheating. Separating online and offline modes would add much longevity to the game.

Anyone else getting the PS4 version? Send me a friend request on PSN!

Pre-ordered from PSN last night so when I wake up the morning of the 19th can jump right in. Also ordered the game guide just to see stats of gear since the diablo 3 website does not have a section on console gear. Want to see what changes they made to gear this time around. I am hoping they upped the cool down reduction of some of the gear slots.

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed about that to be honest. PC version isn't really an option for me due to Blizz stubbornly refusing to implement controller support, and the new console versions will continue to be hackathons. =(

Anyone down for a good run tonight on the 360 version? I just started Act 2 last night and it sucks not having anyone to run around with. Also when I open my party up to the public is there a way to set it to a certain level? I don't want a level 30 coming in when I'm only a level 12 and just one hitting every monster to me that sort takes the fun out of the game.

Uploaded direct feed gameplay from my hands-on appointment last week (with me and two Blizzard producers on the controls):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd95TxlhiCE&feature=youtu.be

Note: This was the same timed demo build from E3 and PAX, though according to the PR rep, last week was the first time they allowed raw gameplay postings.

Thank you very much looks great. I can't wait till the morning of the 19th to start playing.

A question that is non 2.10 patch if you know the answers. Will there be a kick option for the host this time around? It would be so helpful for public games to keep modders out.

Hopefully there will be some answers on wednesday 8/6. Gamespot is having a Q/A with the developers. To be honest I am leaning towards no on patch 2.10 they been to quiet on that front. Maybe they were waiting on pre-order numbers to see if it was worth the cost. I am hoping for a host kick option and some kind of gear check each log on. If gear is out of spec like to many affixes, affixes not possible, extra sockets or to high of rolls the gear is nuked. At least that would keep cheaters from 1 hitting every thing dead.

Got my monk to 60 and having a blast. I got everything except a wizard at 60 now. So if they nerfed some of the classes I should have something good to play in RoS. Don't even know what they changed in terms of classes.

I've gotten way more drops farming Master I then doing Master IV on my other toons. Still only Paragon 22 though. Monk seems OP now.

You can still get matches on-line although half the time the guy just goes AFK in town.

Need the $$$ for a PS4 now: (

Google wasn't much help here... so the only way to get all of the preorder bonuses on PS4 is to do the digital preorder from PSN? I might compromise my physical-only rules for this game if that's the case.
