Diablo III PS3/360 |OT| Bringing Hell to consoles

Just started this last night on PS3... is there any type of punishment for dying? They got rid of D2's go back and find your body mechanic?

Not to brag, but I don't know because I've never died. XD

But from what I hear, the punishment is that the durability on your equipment lowers. The later you are in the game, the bigger the penalty. This can get pretty nasty later on when you don't switch equipment as often.

Yeah, but repair costs are nothing, aren't they? Or does it start getting expensive later in the game? Right now, it's just a few hundred gold to repair, and I have thousands upon thousands, it's pocket change.

Thanks to quest/dirtgnap for the items and recipes!

I hit Paragon Level 8 on my Barb and can solo Master 3 with little difficulty, a little slow but I am having a hell of a time finding upgrades. Mostly get level 59 items and the few legendaries I've seen aren't better than what I have. Seems Master I drops the most, I dropped down to that level and did a run of Act 3 and 3 legendaries in 15 minutes, but it's real easy. Master 2 and 3 don't seem much harder but killing is slower. Haven't tried Master IV or V yet as I don't think my DPS is high enoug.

Right now I'm at 180k DPS self buffed(frenzy+maniac) and about 110k HP. Does it get much better than that? I see some people have 300k+ DPS and I have no idea how to hit that, II'm dual-wielding 1600 and 1300 DPS weapons right now.

Yes. You just need better gear, better gear and passives combination, more items with Chance to Crit & Crit Hit damage and a better use of gems.

For example, my Barb have 263k DPS unbuffed and 361k DPS buffed.

I still need a level 60 set of shoulder armor for that achievement. I have level 60 everything else.

I have a spare level 60 shoulder armor. Are you playing on PS3 or Xbox 360?

Just noticed now that you said "achievement". Sorry, but I cannot help you.

Anyway, if you are in Inferno, you should be able to find a level 60 shoulder armor without much problem, specially with the nephalem valor.

Try this run:

The Keep Depths Level 2 -> Skycrown Battlements -> Rakkis Crossing -> Fields of Slaughter -> Tower of the Damned Level 1 -> Arreat Crater Level 2

Yeah, but you'll be able to transfer your PS3 save(s) to the PS4 version when the time comes. You can get your character leveled to 60 right now, then take them over to the PS4 for the expansion.

Plus the dodge-roll on the console versions is extremely helpful. I don't know if they ever patched it into the PC version.

Didn't know that. Well that's makes getting this for the ps4 inevitable then since I can switch my character over. It'll be nice to not have to re roll my demon hunter for a third time.

Besides the Hall of Deceased Heroes, is there any other in-game clock? I want to know how much time I put into all my characters.

I went from the beginning of Hell to the end of Inferno this weekend. Started off with 8k dps and ended with 100k dps on my monk. that's made me sad about hundreds of hours it took to get to the same stats on my PC monk.

Last night while finishing up leveling my DH I got a legendary bow, Cluckeye.

It shoots chickens and makes chicken/rooster sounds on 50% of the shots.

I wish I could transmog the effect in RoS. I had no idea it existed and it is awesome.

I've hit around 161k on my DH on the PS3 (not at the console to check exact DPS). I've not played in a month or two, wondering where I should farm on Inferno? Think I was on Master 1.

Also, is that DPS good enough for Master 2?

So I just started this earlier on PS3. So far I'm enjoying it but I already have some issues with the game:

-Compressed cutscenes. On PS3. Why.
-Spanish dub can't be turned off. Granted, it's a kickass dub with some known voice actors, but still. Lame.
-So far the game has been way too easy. I just beat the skeleton king but I haven't died once. I'm playing on Normal but I remember D2 being a lot harder, with Andariel kicking my ass quite a bit on Act 1 before I could kill her. Does it get any harder later?

Minor issues aside, I'm having a good time.

Um, if you're playing on Normal, it sees a slight increase in difficulty, especially in the final act...but things get REALLY fucking tough when you bump up the difficulty (simply going up to Nightmare will cause you to start cursing on several occasions).

Not sure why you can't turn off the Spanish dub, because that was a non-issue for me and I bought the game here in Asia. Is there no English option?

You'll be able to import your character over to the PS4 version, so compression issues should be non-existent.

Nope. I'm guessing they did a Latin American version with only one voice track and language, since my PS3 has the system language set to English.

That's bogus. In Asia, language options are indicated clearly on the package. Especially for China/Taiwan/Hong Kong, you look on the back and they let you know what language the instruction manual, spoken dialogue, and subtitles are all in.

Well, finished Act 1. The Butcher was literally the only tough fight in the game so far. I hope the rest of the game gets tougher, otherwise I feel like I'm just plodding through everything, mashing X like there's no tomorrow.

The game is only truly hard when you reach level 60 and play with the monster levels. You can increase the difficulty as you level if it's boring you.

Or play HC. :)

You can change the difficulty in the options before you start. I switched to hard after getting to nightmare on my dh because I was just one shotting everything. Playing MP2 on inferno trying to farm better gear for my dh when I get bored leveling my wiz(currently level 36).

I just tried this... and got my ass handed to me. Repeatedly. I ended up switching back to Normal, lol

I played the PC version of D3 a shitton and got sucked into it to the point that I had to quit. The social atmosphere of the friends that I had and the AH compelled me to repeatedly log in several times a day, and I couldn't justify doing that any longer.

Long story short, I got the PS3 version just before Christmas. As of today:

Main account's Paragon is 47 and my wife's is 27 (and this is thanks to what I do as explained below; she's actually played the game all of maybe ten hours tops). My main is a wizard that is at 500K dps (particularly thanks to help from another poster here, though I am ever so slowly replacing some gear as time goes on), and I also have a 350K barb, a 300K monk, and the DH is probably at least 300K too once I move everything over from monk (haven't had a reason to do it for a while). My wife's main is a 300K barb.

The new twist that compels me to play this version continuously is how easy it is to "multibox". Since the game has the mechanic of auto-teleporting off screen characters in local coop, all I need to do is have three other empty controllers sit while I do runs. So for key runs, as opposed to X% chance for one player for a key drop, it is X% of four players; same applies for XP gain, legendary drops, organ drops, and so on. With my wizard in XP gear and buffs, I use a socketed Andy's (that unfortunately has dexterity base), a HF, and a Leorics, and still have 477K sheet damage. That's enough for MP5/Master II. The build is a CM/archon hybrid where the four face buttons are ET, EB, DS, and FN; this means that any time I can lock a boss or elite, I can just use my right hand to thumb down all four buttons at once, which lets me use my left hand to move another character and apply more damage. Otherwise, the Archon just escorts the meat shields. With the DH troop I was able to get the two unused characters up to 200K health, which is awesome with the one passive that grants regen on the basis of maximum health. For barbs, the two unused characters are at 110K health with 11K armor.

Playing D3 solo still stands as incredibly boring to me, but at least the console version doesn't require other actual players to enjoy the benefits of MP. It's also quite more engaging to play the game for the purpose of developing several characters at once.

I started playing around with monster levels the other day. I still can't even tell what is good gear and what isn't for my barbarian. I just stack the shit out of strength. I still die in like one hit so I gemmed all purple gems.

Quads on amulet and rings are ideal. This refers to having the four affixes of +damage (such as "+21-55 damage"), critical hit chance (CC), critical hit damage (CD), and increased attack speed (IAS). An item having the latter three affixes is referred to as Trifecta as well, and for barb, it's possible to find the Pride of Cassius belt which will give you a Trifecta combination. Maximizing these affixes is at least as important as maximizing your strength value.

So, slot by slot -
Weapon: Prioritize sheet damage, base CD, life steal (life on hit is not great but better than nothing), socket.
Gloves: Trifecta
Shoulders: Str, vit, all resist (AR), %life
Chest: Same as shoulders. Immortal King (IK) or Blackthorne with these is good for potential set bonus.
Helm: Mempo of Twilight with CC is ideal (always rolls with some AR and %life). Andariel's Visage or Broken Crown can also have IAS and CC.
Amulet: Quadfecta
Bracers: Lacuni Prowlers with CC will maximize damage; otherwise, 6%CC with stats similar to shoulders or chest otherwise
Rings: Quads
Feet: Boj Anglers for damage, IK or Blackthorne for potential set bonus, Ice Climbers otherwise
Pants: Blackthornes. Hope for two sockets.
Belt: Pride of Cassius.

Finished the game on Normal earlier today.

Remember how I said I found it too easy and missing that special something from D2? Yeah, forget I said it. I ended up having a blast with the game starting on the second half of Act II. The game was still a bit easy, but I guess being able to just respawn at your corpse instead of having to walk to it again just made it easier, not the monster density or difficulty. I actually killed Diablo on my first try, weird because some of the minibosses in Act IV were much worse, especially the first one.

Story was okay, I have a few questions regarding how it ties to the previous games, and I hated what they did to the character of
Adria
, but I enjoyed it overall.

Now onto Nightmare mode!

How do you think they'll roll the changes from Patch 2.0 into this?

I'm hoping the new runes will at least make it before the PS4 RoS hit.

Common debris is such a pain in the ass lol. Just farmed for 30 mins past when i wanted to play trying to find 10 stupid pieces. Didnt get a single white drop. UGHHHHH. Wish I had stocked up when it was all that dropped!!!

To the people that have double-dipped on PC and console - are the console versions as addicting as the PC version?

Something about endless monster killing and click click click click is just so very addicting. I was wondering if you can get the same kind of feeling when using a controller on a comfy couch.

Yup. Perhaps more so with the improvements, although I guess favour has just swung back to the PC.

Clicking a weapon/armor rack is like 90% chance for a white item.

I haven't personally played the console version but can't imagine them being anymore addicting than PC lol. Then again I always feel diablo is a PC game at heart.

Local co-op question: will this game let you level two characters at the same time?

i.e. I don't need to buy a second copy of this game so my wife can have her own character, do I?

Anyone still play this? After getting burnt out I've started playing again, trying to get my Paragon level up in advance of RoS coming to PS4(will buy the console when the game hits). Finally got some upgrades for my WD.

You can surprisingly still find games online, at least at Master I-II where I'm at.

I decided to park it until RoS hits. Love the game though, and can't wait for the expansion. One of very few games I'm willing to pay full digital price for.
