First Xbox One S impressions from a lucky Norwegian

If the S keeps the same proportions, a 40% reduction in volume is only a roughly 15% reduction in the length of each dimension. So it wouldn't look terribly drastic, especially in photos.

The photos don't really do any justice. When I saw it next to the launch unit in the Microsoft store it's really much smaller in person.

Would be interested if the console has a fan sound when in instant-on mode.

On the current console the power supply can be heard kind of annoying then the room is otherwise completely silent.

What pisses me off is having to wait until I have the new console before Microsoft will ship the adapter for Kinect. I'd pay if I could have it launch day, because my wife uses the voice commands. Kids love it too.

You have a faulty power supply. The fan should not be running in instant on.

Alternately it is easy to open the power supply and remove the fan as it is not needed at all. The Xbox One draws like 100W in the most demanding games. That shit needs no active cooling.

This really looks great, but whether to trade in my black bone for a white bone is the question. Especially with that powerful bone around the corner.

Wait am I seeing this right? The Xbox One S only has one USB port???

Also does it have an external power brick?

It has 3 USB 3.0 ports like the original One. Only difference is they moved the side USB port to the front of the console, the other 2 USB ports are in the back like the original One.

Are you sure ?

I had 2 xbox ones and all hat a running fan while in instant on.

Same on the xbox of a friend of mine.

Maybe they changed it with later models ?

Buying one next week. Hopefully the controller doesn't suffer from the drifting issues I've experienced with my Day One edition.

Not quite, original Xbox isn't as wide or deep but the brute has depth. Monster console couldn't hold in the powah!

But at first glance they are definitely in the same ballpark.

That issue seems to be pretty common and I'm concerned as well, however from what I saw the sticks on the new controller is "improved" to "last longer" whatever that means.

So the new Xbox uses Bluetooth, does that mean that the new pad won't work with the windows 10 wireless adapter? Also will my Elite pad work on the S?

All XB1 controllers would work. IIRC when it connects to the xbox the new controller still uses the 2.4Ghz, if your PC supports bluetooth the new controller would work without any adapters.

If the elite pad doesn't work with the 1s there should have been a riot already

You love... this?

The circular fan cut-out is so bad. Wish it blended like the current bone.
That is not even going to be visible 99% of the time due to the fact that you will see it at an angle and not shine a light on it. It's really only an issue in photos taken from a more perpendicular angle.

Yeah.

I got bored. Can't find any size for the new S yet...

Xbox - 320 × 100 × 260 mm
Xbox One - 343 x 80 x 263 mm
Xbox 360 - 309 x 83 x 258 mm
Xbox 360 Slim - 270 x 75 x 264 mm
Xbox One S - ????
