Should have just saved this reveal for next E3. A whole year away from release and who knows if it'll be delayed on top of that.

So how do you think they'll use the extra power of the current-gen consoles? This is their first true current-gen game so I guess we'll see better physics and animation. Hopefully the map is less than or equal to the size of GTA V, I think that was large enough. More density, less filler.

I would kill for some destruction on the level of when Michael destroys that dudes house in GTAV but thats probably wishful thinking at this point.

Hopefully a lot less. Without a car, it would be awful.

Rockstar learned with GTAV that you can sell three copies of a game to the same player. Current generation, next generation and then PC. I did this, as did many others.

So withholding a PC copy for a year or more like GTA is a viable strategy. Also likely cuts initial piracy ease way down and ultimately sells more copies using the spread release.

More NPCs with better AI is my hope. RDR always felt pretty empty to me, especially in the "cities". Even GTAV wasn't that populated, unless you modded it on PC.

feh, I still think the next-gen versions were the real ones and they just pulled some wizard shit to get em on PS3 and such because good god

Even if the framerate was butt, how'd they pull that off

Man I was just constantly amazed by what my PS3 was pulling off.

I expect it to look better than GTAV in some ways but not by a large margin. The setting will be very different so they'll get a lot of mileage for freshness there. The thing about Rockstar is that they are best at evolving, so the first serious effort on a new hardware spec doesn't offer the best results, it's the last effort at the end of the hardware cycle that does.

In terms of technical showcase, GTAIV was a pile of shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. RDR was much better, but had a ton of bugs too. GTAV looked amazing.

Well GTA4 was also the first jump into HD gaming. We'll see, I really don't know what to expect. I do hope it looks a lot better than GTAV though, heh.

Yeah I'm keeping my expectations in check and just assuming this will look graphically on-par to GTAV PS4/XBO with better physics, AI, and animation. Not expecting Uncharted 4-level character models.

Further to my previous point, with dlc and patches, they need to keep random crimes and random NPC interactions fresh. Once we beat these games and have screwed around for hours, we need a hook to keep playing. So if I am riding my horse around, I don't want to do the same small crime event again or the player activities. But reset gang hideouts and/or the unique random crimes etc.

The world needs to feel more dynamic.

Well, regardless of who you can play as, we can be sure of these things:

The American white guy will have a dark past.

The Irish guy will be a drunk.

The Native American will be stoic.

The Mexican will be loud and occasionally curse or insult someone in Spanish.

Wild West media is fucking predictable. Hopefully they change it up.

Whatever, I just want liar's dice back...and Hebert Moon.

But Seven Samurai is made in Japan technically not making it diverse where it was made.
True. Modern interpretations of this story evolved have been a little more inclusive.
honestly if they had a female in there. it would ruin it for me, it wouldn't be realistic at all, just a very unlikely scenario.
You must not read a lot of books, huh?

What makes you think you are entitled to a PC version. This is Rockstar's vision and they should be allowed to make the game for whatever platforms they choose. They don't owe you anything. Tired of this PC outrage.

Your next drink is on me if you're in the bay.

Hope there's a run in with a younger Bonnie also as a sweet cameo. Maybe we'll get another character like Luisa, and I'm really wondering if Abigail will be fully involved.

Women will be there! Baha, it's fucking 2016. I can't wait for the day Rockstar just promotes a single female character to carry an entire game. Their writing is strong enough, and it'll happen soon enough.

This game is going be awesome.

Rockstar announces a new game after 6 years, and here people are complaining about everything.

Fortunately, i'm not one of the complainers - i am happy that the new Red Dead is coming and it's gonna be awesome.

I wouldn't say shit. I mean there's a certain feel to GTA controls which I agree are not very natural. But comparing GTAIV to GTAV is like comparing something that is barely functional to something that is very functional but feels a bit too loose and somewhat awkward at times. I guess this is the "tank controls" of the open world genre. GTA Is never going to control like a smooth TPS, but they have made aiming and combat manageable and occasionally fun, which is a HUGE step up imo.

Speaking of controls...

I sure fucking hope Rockstar has taken off the goddamn training wheels for this game and HAS NOT designed it around auto-aim, like RDR1 and GTAV. It's so obvious when you select free-aim, every encounter just becomes a pain.

Personally, although I do not like how R*'s games control, I can deal with it, but at least give me that.

Also, balance red eye more. That shit was broken.

I don't want to get home from a long working day just to have estrogens in my storylines. My games need to be 110% testosterone.

Why are people so confident that this will be a direct sequel/prequel to RDR? GTAV isn't a direct sequel to GTAIV. Yeah, Red Dead previously had the Red Dead R- naming convention, but two games hardly makes a pattern and Red Dead Redemption has the name recognition. Most people don't know Revolver ever happened.

...but BOTH John Marston and Bill Williamson are in that artwork.

Nooooooo the map needs more filler. RDR was way too condensed and hyperactive to feel like an actual huge frontier/boarder location. I want to see gargantuan mountain passes + fields/forests, and ginormous desert vistas Just Cause style. More space for no man's land criminal activity and atmospheric hunting. More variety and complexity in random systemic events, but also more quiet time. Then when you get to the towns, make them more lively and dynamic. There needs to be a bigger divide in civilization vs. nature.

It's happened! Super hyped for the trailer on Thursday. Hopefully it won't run like ass on my OG PS4.

That's something I'm kinda worried about. The upgraded systems will probably be the lead platforms, but I hope the PS4/Xbox One versions still run well. With this in mind, it's obvious that they'll be going for 30fps across all platforms.

To the contrary, it actually made a pretty great argument for releasing it late.

5.6 million copies and that's not even counting the ones not on Steam, and the game hasn't exactly been on amazing bottom basement sales.

Why not get the double dips when the audience doesn't seem to care?

Rockstar also forwarded that they can do a better port when their core team moves over after the project is done.

How large is this audience anyway? It might be less than 50k who double dip, it could be 10k max, in which case it would not be that much worth. I read this argument all the time, but where the proof of big numbers of double dipping?

Oh great, you just brought me flashbacks when they made auto aim the default in Max Payne 3's multiplayer. Way to kill the game, Rockstar.

Take that shit off, and let us play with a little bit of challenge.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
When people say controls, they aren't generally talking about button configurations (though in this case, Rockstar deserves hell for continuing the ridiculous tap to sprint stuff), but talking about things like animation priority, clumsy locomotion, a bad cover system, having trouble getting through doors and up/down ladders, etc.

Just watch a high intensity action scene in GTAV. PVE or PVP. It looks like an alien's rendition of what they think human shootouts look like.
That's a really good way of putting it. I don't understand how this is possible after three HD games.

Did RDR ever come to PC?
It never came because RDR was held together by digital duck tape.

Yeah, a viable strategy for corporate greed. There's no defending this, I don't care how much extra money it makes them.

I feel as though this is the first sensible comment posted here. Good lord. I've never been so afraid to reply to any of these responses before in my life.

I really hope they bring back the treasure hunting side missions, and leave them exactly as they were. One of my favorite side activities.

Larger towns would be nice with all interiors being accessible.

I'm sure we'll have some nice destruction and all the really tiny details like footprints in dirt.

OK I see what you're saying. But I think the size of GTA V's map is large enough to encompass all of this. Plus, it'll feel larger without vehicles.
