No but really it all looks p. good. I'll have to dig my 3DS out of a drawer for the Gaiden remake, wasn't expecting to do that.

Is anyone else concerned that they're leaning into Fire Emblem a little hard now-a-days? I'm afraid we're gonna hit some franchise fatigue soon. I mean, in 36 months, we'll have had 8 Fire Emblem games. Think about it: from last January until the end of 2018 when Fire Emblem Switch is supposed to be out, Nintendo will have released the following games:

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright
Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest
Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
Fire Emblem Warriors
Fire Emblem Heroes
Fire Emblem Echoes
Fire Emblem for Switch

This is a lot of titles in a single IP to release in 3 years...

On the one hand, I'm about done with my 3ds. On the other hand, a remake of Gaiden sounds like a great idea. And considering it's the NES game, I'm expecting the gameplay to be
simplified! Yay!
lol

That's five games, one of which is barely FE. Fates is one large game broken into 3 packages. I only bought Birthright at first and did NOT feel like I had the whole story at all. The 'DLC' that was the other games was required.

When a franchise goes from a 200k seller to 2 million+, along with extremely hardcore fans that buy merchandise en masse, you capitalize on that hardcore.

lol holy shit, Gaf's reactions. So many people disappointed that a Fire Emblem direct focused on....FIRE EMBLEM.

edit: though I'm glad most people seem to be pumped for the details we got. Whoo!

If it's popular, why not? Most of those games (and Fates is just one title) don't step on each other's toes in the first place.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions has barely anything to do with the series except for a couple of character in all fairness. And Fates was just one game split in three, not really sure if I would call that three completely separate things either. But that's just how I see it.

Excuse the dumb question, but I've watched the portion twice and not noticed an answer. Does this mean that Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is releasing globally on May 19 2017, or would it just be releasing in one region and coming out later to other regions?

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.

I mean, if an IP is doing well, it makes sense to try and keep interest up doesn't it?

So how did I do?

The new game isn't for 3DS. :p

I think the reimagining might be more interesting though.

I liked the direct but it's dumb imo that echoes does not get a Switch port while Warriors gets a new 3ds port. The resolution on the 3DS is ancient by now i prefer HD resolution imo. But i will get that mobile game, Fire emblem 2018 and warriors.

Ok that was pretty great, Gaiden on 3ds looks damn good and Heroes is the gacha we expected and it looks great.
Some artworks were not so great but with multiple artists it's bound to happen.
The choose your legend thing seems like strange way to start it up but whatever, Cordelia got my first vote.

A new game coming to switch next year is great news as well, it couldn't have gone better, it's crazy that some people are actually complaining lol

Awesome day for FE, both the mobile and 3DS ones look great! Hope they bring out an Advance Wars game or something next.

Can't say this direct did anything for me. They could make a hundred more FEs and localize all of them, but if they all suck, it's the same as having none.

FE Mobile looks lobotomized, which isn't really a surprise I guess, but I had some hope they would have built something traditional at the core of their money-maker.

Echoes is remaking the worst game of the series and it's really isn't in their best interests to fix it; people like to grind, so you just need to polish up the waifus. I'm leaning pessimistic until proven otherwise.

Musuo is musuo. Don't tend to like these, but I won't reject it out of hand. Doesn't really mean much for SRPGs. Hope it isn't flooded with FE13+ and some FE1 throw-in (the first impression of the mobile is basically this).

EDIT: A new TMS would have been great, even an enhanced port. However, I was smart enough to not get myself hyped for the possibility.

Is there a quick summary I can read anywhere?

FE Heroes on Mobile is a gacha game that looks somewhat Fire Emblemish. Had the most gameplay to show.

FE Warriors is Musou. 10 seconds of gameplay shown.

FE Echoes. Remake of a previous game for the 3DS. Long trailer with anime intro. Two amiibos coming with.

FE Switch. They said it exists. That is all.

FE Echoes: Shadow of Valentia (remake of FE Gaiden) launches on 3DS May 19. All the Gaiden weirdness (dungeon crawling, towns, world map) included. Amiibo of the lords, Alm and Celica, available as a 2-pack.

FE Cipher series 9 includes Echoes and FE 6 - 9.

FE Switch announced, no details. Launches 2018.

FE Warriors gameplay shown. It's Warriors but with Chrom. Launches on Switch and New 3DS Fall 2017.

FE Heroes, mobile gacha SPRG. Lots of gameplay shown. Launches February 2nd on Google Play, TBA on iOS.

Would you count Pokémon Sun and Moon as two different games? I'd argue that the first three are all different parts of the same game.

#FE is Persona minus the S-Links with a few Fire Emblem characters grafted on top. The gameplay is much more SMT than FE.

Everything gets a Musou game nowadays. I'm surprised we haven't had Yuri on Ice Musou yet.

Frankly as long as the love for FE doesn't dilute Nintendo's attention to other franchises, they should bring it.

This is a really negative outlook. You are down on Gaiden because it's a remake, but what they actually showed seems interesting at least. Heroes, while obviously dumbed down for Mobile, seems to keep the core experience intact, and I'm sure it'll be one of the better mobile SRPGs. We now know for sure they are working on FE for Switch, and FE Warriors will likely be similar to Hyrule Warriors, an Omega Force title with lots of FE fan service. Seems good to me.
