just finished episode 6. This entire season so far has been a delight. I'm so glad they're ok with taking risks like these.

The Master of None universe reminds me of the Parks and Rec universe. Its realistic but also very cartoony. I would like to live in it.

Great season.

So there are obvious parallels to be drawn between Linklater's Before trilogy but do you think
Francesca broke things off with Pino before being with Dev? In Before Sunset, Hawke just cheats on his wife but I feel like that's not wholly the case here.

Finished season 2. I loved season 1 and this just blew it out of the water. Just wow.

We won't get a season 3 anytime soon which sucks because I need more

imo it looked like she was imagining a life with Dev if she wasn't married. What could have been

I think Fran and the black girl from episode are better matches than Rachel.

Episode 6 was the best of the entire season for me, that was amazing how that all came together. And generally, just was a great feel good episode
the last segment with the taxi driver was my favorite bit - his face at the ending was gold lol
.

Thanksgiving, was also really really good although i do have one gripe
Michelle was in no way what I expected and was disconnected from her portrayal in season 1 (princess love or lil funyuns or something). But Joyce and Grandma were really good in the episode
.

On the ending:

I'm glad Dev and Franchesca got together in the end. I didn't know what to expect with Rachel showing up, and was really surprised Franchesca decided to stay with Dev (especially with the way Dev handled Franchesca putting him down). Loved how the ending was handled.

Great season, this was some fantastic work from Aziz and the team.

I seriously don't know where he finds these people. Must be a friend of his? That's the only explanation I can think of, because I refuse to believe that was the best actor they could find for the role.

It's his real life cousin. I'm kinda surprised that's what he looks like after hearing so much about him in Aziz's standup

Music was indeed awesome.
Hearing Kraftwerk gave me a huge smile.

What else used the German version as bgm? I didn't know the song name or the band but I KNOW I've heard the song before. I don't remember if it was a youtube video, movie, or show though. No clue where I heard it lol.

Are you thinking of the Coldplay song "Talk"?
I know it sampled that song in particular.

Actually I am pretty sure they were released simultaneously, I just assumed the German was the original because they are German.

There's only one version.

Haha, holy shit that's Harris?! He's nothing like I expected.

Just finished episode 9, I love this show so much, and it's ridiculously good looking as well, been a surprisingly good showcase for my new TV.

edit: ah shit, double post, sorry.

I liked the season but not the ending. I just don't think it fit with the feeling of the whole show. The I love NY episode was excellent.

Nah, I remember a female singing voice and I want to say it might have been used comedically, or at least in a comedy of some kind? It's killing me lol. I know I've heard it I just don't know wheeeerrrrreeee

I must be the only person who didn't care for Episode 6. The doorman part was good, but the silent second segment felt gimmicky and the main actors were bad in the third part.

I find the bad acting in certain parts affects my enjoyment of the show more than most. It's very inconsistent. Any episode with a lot of Arnold, Brian or Aziz's mom is usually guaranteed to be a stinker for me.

Arnold and Brian completely ruin this show for me, to be honest. Their acting is just not believable; almost student film-level.

is it really a
happy ending, though? she didn't seem that happy to me.

maybe i'm misinterpreting the ending.

Goddamn. I was surprised and enjoyed the first season, but the second season has been far more consistent and stellar as a whole.

Bravo.

Agree somewhat with this sentiment, it is really distracting at times, though I don't find it 'ruins' the show, just a weird blemish on an otherwise great show.

Same as me. It's the
I think I've made a grave mistake look. That being said, we already watched some sort of dream sequence between them with her ripping his heart out. Maybe this is something similar.

I ultimately don't mind the first two... more or less, but yea, I don't enjoy the scenes with his mom at times. She's not nearly as endearing as his father is. But I dunno, I kind of get through it by how sweet it is that that is his actual mother.

Agree 100%. The last shot makes no sense, Dev was
selfish, especially to his lack of understanding of her circumstances, like a spoiled child, didn't deserve her.

I hope it ends up being a dream.

I think the last
shot is very bad. It is confusing and weird that it appears to be on the same exact day as that other night. That doesn't add anything, it just looks sloppy. Also, the show isn't about the plot, it is about the experiences that Dev goes through. A cliffhanger is wrong for this sort of show.

They were both being selfish. I see the next season being the unraveling of that dream relationship as reality hits and the pressure of living up to the expectations of somebody that's just abandoned their life for you.

Season two proved to be very enjoyable for the most part. Episodes 1 through 8 were all wonderful to one extent or another, but the last two I didn’t like nearly as much. I guess the overarching relationship stuff didn’t work out quite in the way that I had hoped this time around.

As for the ending,
I don’t see the relationship between the two lasting. I think Francesca was (understandably) more worried about losing her chance to experience things that she wouldn’t get to experience if she married Pino (they really made him out to be a bit of a jerk) than she was in love with Dev specifically. He just happened to become a part of her life at a critical point in time and inadvertently helped her break out of that future. Not that either of them knew this at the time. At least that’s roughly how I interpreted their relationship and the final shot, but we’ll see if there ever is a third season.

I just finished the I Love You, New York episode. That was fantastic. I absolutely LOVED it.

EDIT: And I think Dev's producer might be my second favorite character after Arnold, haha.

Interesting to see the reactions in this thread. I agree with most of them. But my girlfriend's take was interesting, as she hated the final 2 episodes and felt they
romanticized emotional and, then later, physical cheating. Doing a search for "cheat" in the last couple pages of this thread, even, and only one other post comes up... I guess most people aren't bothered by it? She was definitely #teamPino during those last two episodes and couldn't condone Dev and Francesca's canoodling and increasing flirtation with each other,
which I can totally understand even I don't feel as strongly about it as she does. I think the beauty of the show is that it doesn't depict perfect people and perfect relationships. It just depicts things as they are for many people, which is why it's relatable.

I think episodes like New York, I Love You and the Thanksgiving episode saved the show from growing a little bit too stale. Until things pick up with the main story in episode 9 and 10, there were definitely times where I found the "Dev and his quest for romance" storylines tedious and boring. Relatable, but boring. Focusing on some of the other characters was a smart move. I especially loved the Asian dad and his dual-girlfriend dilemma (Coco!).

Good season overall. Francesca is cute as fuck, but I'm still kinda bummed about the cute black girl in episode 1.
