Redskins have till Monday to negotiate a LTD for Cousins. That's a real interesting situation and they're kinda fucked either way

Let him go and burn it all down.
Probably the right move. He's been good but if they sign him that basically prevents them from fixing their defense. As good as he's been he isn't in that elite tier that can compensate for a shit D. Better to use that money elsewhere and just hope to hit on a QB in the draft. Most of their team is pretty young too

But just imagine the shitshow that'll be. Letting the best QB they've had in years just walk away

It is pretty rare for teams to compensate for shit defenses. Brees has one playoff win in the past five seasons despite all these numbers he does (inflated due to the dome, as well).

Man, Abdelhak Nouri, one of the most promising Dutch soccer players has been pretty much declared braindead after collapsing on the pitch a week ago. Kid just turned 20. Sick to my stomach about it :(

Morning

Dan Snyder gonna read this
I would not be shocked if Snyder were a Gaffer

That speaks to how poor QB play has been in Washington compared to Cousin's talent. He's manageable and dare I say showed sparks of excellence, but he's not gonna carry you to the mountain by himself. it was the same when he played for the Spartans. He had a run game and two of the best defensive minds in college football running the show in Narduzzi and Dantonio.

Reason why Scot was willing to ship him off, it's obvious.

Yeah that's kinda my point. Brees is an outlier imo because he hasn't had a bad defense, he's had a historically awful defense. But guys like Rodgers, Carr this past year, prime Peyton, 2011 Brady, Luck, Ben, even Eli can at least carry a bad defense to the playoffs. Cousins hasn't been good enough to do that, except for 2015 when the NFC East as a whole was pretty shit. Obviously those are the elite QBs in the league, but Cousins is potentially looking at $25M+ a year contract after the Carr deal. So I don't think it would be a good idea to make him potentially the highest-paid player ever when he hasn't shown to be that elite player, even if he's been the beacon of hope in DC the past two seasons

Yup
Yeah that's true too. I think Cousins is good enough to build a franchise around, but not for the money he'll be demanding. That would cripple a team from doing anything unless they were the Browns/9ers with so much money that they have to burn it. So it may send Washington into a nosedive but it's probably the right move to let him leave
