I have the wampa cave it's cool. The little snowspeeder is great and the lightsaber stuck in the ice is spring-loaded for simulated force-pull!

Not that it matters but minifigs asside I don't think Will should be allowed to weigh pieces that he's built but are not attached to the main superstructure yet. He's just piling semi-completed stuff on top.

We've both been doing that through the entire show. The way Norm's build goes for the superstructure parts, there would be entire episodes where he doesn't have any improvement if we didn't weigh partially completed stuff. The rule is pieces attached to pieces in the proper places are weighed. Sorted, but not attached pieces, aren't weighed.

Anything that they've built should be weighed, whether or not it connects to the "main structure". However, Will shouldn't have been allowed to weigh those 2 small pieces that were "floating", as he put it, in the instructions. They were so small that I'm sure they didn't contribute anything to the total weight, but it should still be disallowed.

Also, that elevator was pretty sweet.

Just caught up with eps 5-9 this morning.

Norm's is so much cooler. He wins by default.

Though, of course, anything Star Wars isn't really cool so they both lose.

I had friends over for the weekend so that is why no GIFS last Friday but I have them ready now :).

GIFS FROM EPISODE 09 (last Friday)
(quality is a little worse because I had the keep the file size down)

You did cheat tho with two loose pieces. lol.

You both have weighed partially completed stuff, but Norm has never weighed loose pieces!

Will cheated!!!!!

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with a decision that I am facing thanks to this thread - Super Star Destroyer or regular Star Destroyer? I only have room to display one and am trying to figure out which to go for. Has anyone done both of these?

I know the Super Destroyer would be better for the money considering the regular one is out of print, but I was trying to ignore that for this decision since space is the real premium.

Guys this is the week to be watching. There is BIG DRAMA coming up this week!

ALSO LOL I forgot about that LEGO store story. "Stay in school, kids!"

The best part was when the kid who was pawing at the glass with the Super Star Destroyer behind it asked his dad how long it would take to build. The dad said "I dunno, maybe a couple of hours." LOL, try again.

You should have laughed like a Bond villain at that.

Buying the SSD needs to be done in the LEGO store and not online, the kids look at you like you're god.

Does anyone build nanoblocks? I saw this stuff in major supermarkets lately:

I saw these in Toys-R-Us over the weekend and thought they looked really neat. As dumb as it is, making things "mini" is always awesome. If the vita wasn't coming out so soon I probably would have picked up a set or two

Also, wasn't Jeff's "lego magic" done with nanoblocks (the giraffe looked like the one in the store)? I guess they were playing with them on the latest happy hour or something - I saw the .gif on gaf and it was amazing.

It's amazing how many more pieces Norm has on his table then Will. He must have significantly less bag 5/6/7 pieces, otherwise I don't see how he could be within 1% of weight difference.

I don't know, the SSD is much less difficult than it looks. It will depend how fast he can get through the three engine sections, which I think were the most difficult. The detailed top section is actually much more simple than it looks, and the two large top panels are very very quick

Will's build is very modular and he only cares about one small section at a time. Norm has a bunch of lego vomit piled on lego vomit and the whole surface area is fair game. They have different ages for a reason.

Sol: Exodus on Steam
Quick Look of it:

Edit:
Actually he could be talking about Evochron Mercenary too, which also recently came out on Steam. This game is a more complex sim and has multiplayer.
Quick Look:

I was talking about Evochron, but I haven't played much yet. It seems like something that will require a Saturday afternoon to figure out and I can't stop playing Skyrim long enough to try it.

I think the regular Star Destroyer looks better. I feel the same way about the design in general, not just the LEGO kits. The traditional Avenger class Star Destroyer is my favorite thing in sci-fi. Closely followed by the Millenium Falcon and the TIE Interceptor.

This. Norm has some steps where he basically pulls dozens of pieces, then makes 4-5 big pieces out of them.

Every time I look at the engine array of the SSD it terrifies me, that is definitely the most difficult part. It looks like a simple enough build until you see THIS:

Actually the top superstructure looks pretty complex too:

The top is really just two different parts you build a bunch of and then mount. Biggest part of the top section is the removable cover for the bridge set.

The engine array is amazing to see come together.

BTW what happens if one of of you is done way earlier than the other one? Do we get to see the rest of the build while the winner is standing by mocking the other guy?

If Will wins, he should be rewarded with a B-wing to build and destroy the SSD with.

if both were similar prices, I'd jump all over the Star Destroyer. Just way more iconic IMO and cooler looking.

UCS Imperial Shuttle > UCS Millenium Falcon > UCS Star Destroyer > UCS SSD

No idea where the two death stars or other sets come (the snow speeder looks pretty damn nice, as does the AT-ST)

Yeah...right now it's a toss-up between going for a new SSD or a used ISD. I've never bought a used set before, but hopefully I'll be able to find something complete and in good shape. I usually take good care of my stuff and I know what dust can do over time.

To be honest, I'm kind of surprised by all of te love for the shuttle. It's on my list for a smaller section of tr wall, but I didn't think that people liked it all that much from the movies. (at least the people I know anyway)

I'm hoping for hours and hours of me standing there saying "are you done yet?" as fast as possible.

Just bought the shuttle. I need more god damn shelves in my apartment!

Watching Norm apply the decals to his Super Star Destroyer so hastily brings me out in hives. Slow down, it's not a race! Oh wait, it is.

(I always really take my time over the stickers as I am OCD about proper placement and unless you're very careful you don't get a second try at it.)

I say DEEcal too. Might have to stop now that I know that's how Will says it too.

I think I got it backwards. DEE cal is correct. He said de CAL.

Something. I dunno. Will says it funny.

However, you have a British accent, you're supposed to say certain things funny. Will has no excuse.

Also, after watching you build a tie fighter, you get real American when saying "I got it" three times fast.
