Surprised that it didnt go the way I thought the final episode would go. Lots of times it did feel like the type of story that would be on a bonus episode OVA for an epilogue of sorts. However it was still rather entertaining and fun. I wish it would get a second season, just for Iori alone, best.

Overall a really surprisingly well done anime that was the highlight of my Tuesdays each week. Really liked the setting and plot and how things escalated and tethered on the enjoyable real scenarios that often left me a bit touched and some of it seemed to kind of hit a bit close to home at times but the power to persever and other lessons it taught and just seeing characters just go on was really inspiring at times. Really lovable cast these that I loved seeing all interact over these past 24 or so weeks. I'll miss Sakurasou. 9 / 10. A must buy whenever Sentai releases it.

I don't know if too much Ikuhara in too little time is good for the brain and the soul. For now I have Princess Tutu. Maybe some other stuff. I'll figure it out.
At the end of the day the anime was really anything but Lavish (as I think every episode title had it in it). I guess it was just all over the place with its episodes. About half of them were entertaining to enjoyable, while the others I basically watched just because, well it was a new episode and its on Crunchyroll so I can watch something to pass the time while at work. Though I did like a few of the things in the anime even if unexplained, like how all these power suits got here

This lighthearted arc was really well done and didn't feel forced compared to the previous content of the show. Hope there are more episodes like these to counterbalance the (also good) bloody action.
Overall it was a fairly satisfying conclusion. I don't know if it's the firehawk hate or what not but I found it more enjoyable than not. First half of the episode sort of sucked but towards the end it was a return to what I enjoyed about the series: craziness, jokes, and hijinks. It was fun and I'm sort of sad what chaos would ensue after 3 new residents move in. Oh well. There isn't enough content to fill and considering they went and covered 6 novels worth I think where we ended up was okay.
EDIT: Days of Dash is a nice choice for the end than the other not so good ending.
And this is the end of a very good saga . and it bridge the events of the manga quite nicely since we have the
new hyoubu , that is not ruthless anymore without his unlimited cheat mode but without the fear of his habilities going berserk.
This change is quite important because it will change the character balance in the new area ..
Ending was alright .. but everything was expected .. knowing that the 2 were anime only characters & the conclusion
that they had to seal this "unlimited mode " somehow to fall back on the manga timeline , andy or yugiri were the only canditates to take care of this task.
That didn't make the scene any less good.
About the serie :
Quite good,with decent animation . They didn't change many things on the manga setting , yet it might help for future manga or anime adaptations. Quite satisfied.
About the characters :
Hyoubu : 10/10 nuff said
Andy : 7/10 would have been better if he wasn't forced by the plot to betray the pandra familly. he still had plenty of good scenes however and his interraction with yugiri and the othe pandra members were quite good.
Yugiri : 9/10 - so cute i want to protect her from the evil forces that were abusing her.
Magi :8/10 Competent i liked his scene when the castastrophe was under attack to bring the major back
Momiji : 7/10 not enough good scenes but she was alright in most of them.
Yoh : 7/10 i liked his scenes with andy BUt he didn't have enough screen time .Also his power while usefull is not that"cool"
Momotaro : Die useless being ... also 2/10
Patty : 7.5/10 Good act of protecting the children during the attack ..not enough lines however. This should be corrected if another season is being made...
Minamoto : 9.5/10 Nice minamoto overall , not enough effective but good enough tactics and a quick way to asses a situation. All of his scenes with andy were good , except the first encounter that was excellent.
TAIZO : 10/10 because he was MIA... thank god we didn't see him
Oboro : 6/10 quick thinking in "her scene " at babel headquarters but not good enough not enough scenes to raise note.
Sakaki : 6/10 good enough sidekick.. but quite useless in most of his scenes.
Tsubomi : 8.5/10 Quite good and most of her scenes had weight
Young tsubomi : 9/10 excellent temper
Young hyobou : 8/10
Overall : i'm satisfied... need to see the black phantom arcs animated
It probably says a lot that this was the first Ghibli project where they handed control over to a bunch of younger guys, including the director, Tomomi Mochizuki and look how many movies he's made for Ghibli since. (Hint: none).
I wonder if, after the movie came out people began to question if it would ever be possible to hand Ghibli over to a new generation of talent. Considering they chased out Hosoda, undoubtedly one of the most talented directors alive today, I suppose the answer to that is a resounding "no".
Whoops, I've kind of avoided talking about the movie entirely! I really liked and I found the 'drama' and characterisation to be refreshingly naturalistic and down to earth - something that you wouldn't expect from a Studio Ghibli production.
I wish Ghibli as a whole had been more open to experimental projects such as this one. Perhaps, like with major game studios, the need for Ghibli to always make huge blockbuster movie simply to ensure the studios existence has creatively limited them. That and Miyazaki being a horrible control freak.
Yeah, it's a real shame they didn't do more of these types of things as they probably would've made some great things if this was anything to go by. I guess the various issues they had during the production process had a large role to play in that. RIP Ghibli.
Do you think there would have been a way for another director to do this, given the story is a (mostly) faithful adaptation of the novel? I suppose if, like the manga, the story had made the sexual elements more graphic, it might have been more appealing, but I'm not sure what else could have been done to the storyline to make it of a more general appeal. Perhaps it would have had to have been entirely artistic things - more "typical" character designs, or something.
I've only briefly seen a few images of the From the New World manga and noticed that the character designs looked more fan service like. Has anyone paid any attention to the sales numbers? I wonder if those elements have had any effect as far as sales or if it's just as much of a low seller as the anime seems to be regardless of "service".
Heh, interesting. It seems the comparisons to Sailor Moon really do keep on coming with this show. I read different ones comparing Rikka's pose was similar to that of Sailor Venus and Cure Rosetta's pose seemed kind of familiar to me. Sword and Mars maybe seem a bit iffy though.
At first it looked like Prism Nana was maybe just a pachinko machine but it also seems like maybe there is an anime and this is just more advertising. I hope so anyway...I just found out it has Asami Imai too...

i saw those fight with nostalgia since i'm already playing the vita gamethat has events after those ones so i already know about what happenning but it was fun to see those girls fight and their flashbacks.
It is going to feel weird without Sakurasou on Monday.
Probably needs another 12-13 episodes to finish, but its disappointing BD/DVD sales may prevent that from happening, sigh...
