If you mean the My Nintendo codes from Canadian and American games, you can get cool stuff when they do promos. I've received a Metroid Prime 2: Echoes demo disc, The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition, and 3 issues of Nintendo Power so far. All free. I've also got two 1 year subscriptions to Nintendo Power at a reduced rate ($12 for 12 issues for the US, $15 for 12 issues for Canada).

I think once you hit platinum, it's better to start saving codes for the next year IF you think you can reach platinum again. If not, though, you might as well try to get enough points to spend on an item whenever.
