If brocks chin is bad, what is overeems?
Yaco, I know you're bad at anatomy but the chin isn't on the side or back of the head.

Are both of those to the back of the head?

Ya but ppl always say brock doesn't like to get hit, so I had to post that for levity.

To capt, reem fans like to ignore the fact he was tkod like a half a dozen times in pride vs shogun, arona, nog, chuck etc. But if you think he's got a great chin fine by me, but when he gets tkod by kongo or pat berry in the ufc, we can have a laugh.

And really who turns around and runs away during a fight after getting hit? Oh ya a k1 champ.

Damn I love Rory, but it's so hard to root against Ebersole. The Canadian within me is definitely compelled to root for Rory though. It's like that rumored Korean Zombie/Hominick matchup.

The guy is turning away from taking it to the face, not his fault.

I hope Brock wins!Imagine if he started training with GSP for takedowns or at least put in lots of work on keeping guys down once they are down.I believe if he managed to keep Cain down he could had that fight, but let him back up too easy.

poor Ebersole, did this guy do anything to upset Zuffa, his old ass is going to get smashed..
What?

If anything Macdonald is the underdog here.

edit: Oh snap I just had a brain fart and thought Ebersole was fighting Jason Macdonald since I heard he wants to fight UFC vets. Well what I said still stands. Ebersole's experience will give Rory a run for his money.

Interesting. Looks like Reem was offered a title shot against the Cain/JDS winner.

Was Brock the only fight offered to you for your debut?
I got offered to fight for the championship belt but that would mean I had to wait, because of course dos Santos is fighting Velasquez Nov. 12, it's going to be a great fight, then probably these guys are going to need some healing time, relaxing time, so November plus six months, that will probably be May. I'm a fighter, I like to be active, so then some names came rolling out and Brock Lesnar was among them and I think it's a dream match-up. The fans wants to see it; I want to see it. I'm very excited about this fight, so I immediately said yes.

So, I think this basically seals the deal for Strikeforce to fold by year end right? Once this HW tourney is done, it's over.

god i hope the lesnar/overeem matchup doesn't go 5 rounds. if it goes 5 rounds then expect one of them to be on top of the other resting his head on his chest while they both breathe hard and the audience boos. hope this fight has a quick and exciting finish.

i thought they signed a handful of females to new contracts? they could continue on, just not with it's stars like Melendez, King Mo, and others.

Was there ever a doubt? Once Gilbert makes the jump, it's a done deal.

having strikeforce is important to zuffa. having an org that can build up fighters is important so there won't be many 0-1 and out fighters in the ufc. many of those fighters can be pretty good but just had one bad fight and they are out since the ufc has too many fighters and not enough shows.

that LA Times article states Overeem might set up camp in Los Angeles. if this happens, Brock has a big chance of beating him. way too many distractions and temptations from Hollywood and others for Overeem to get good work in. we could see Fox shipping Overeem out to promo during baseball/football games, Fox morning news, etc. there are also the studios that will talk into his ear like they did with Rampage. oh, and the women in LA, hot damn Overeem is going to lose his focus and get caught on TMZ clubbing with young Hollywood.

Showtime isn't paying Zuffa so they can showcase a bunch of up and comers fresh off the regional can circuit.

As expected, hughes took the fight with koscheck:

@danawhite
Dana White
Diego broke his hand so Hughes will now fight Koscheck.

He's fighting Alan Belcher a week from Saturday which, depending on Belcher's eye, is almost as lopsided a matchup as Overeem/Lesnar.

edit: fixed wrong date

Yeah, exactly. If CBS/Showtime want to push for a Strikeforce like organization, they'll upgrade Pro Elite - which CBS already has a stake in.

Zuffa turning Strikeforce into a contract for their prelim fighters or washed up guys they would otherwise would let go, most likely isn't going to fly. I heard talk of moving Rich Franklin there for example, it being a haven for middling vets that aren't bad enough to retire or hit the regional circuits, but aren't going to be confusing anyone as title contenders anytime soon. I don't really think doing that, plus other guys, womens fighters, and sideshow attractions like Herschal Walker will be enough to make Showtime renew a deal.

strikeforce will still have many guys that are good. the ufc will just take the guys who became the breakout stars. if showtime doesn't like it then they could just not renew the contract when its up. i'm sure some other channel will be willing to take it.

He isn't the same fighter and you know it. He was a kid back then.

a guy in his 36th career pro fight was a kid? that was also his 6th tko defeat. so now it's an undisputed fact that overeem fans are the most delusional fanbase of all of mma. the same guys who call fedor's opposition hand picked and cans are championing a guy who's recent mma wins are todd duffee, brett rodgers, fujita, james thompson, and gary goodridge.

how is this guy ranked in the top 3? i guess like someone else explained before, rankings are bullshit.

Reem isn't Rampage.

ya unlike overeem, rampage has actually accomplished some things in mma.

Diaz no-showed the media day for UFC 137. Don't be scared, homie.
He no-showed a media day that isn't until tomorrow?

UFC won't let that shit fly, he has to play the game. When it's time to roll, BABY WE ROLLLIIIIIIIIIIIINNNN

After Reem's last fight, I hope he actually tries to fight this time.

Oh you mean his opponent won't fall down and try to pull guard after getting hit. Yeah, Brock won't do that.

He wasn't doing a whole hell of a lot when they were both on their feet either. It's not like he put in a dominant performance standing up and Werdum was trying to goto the ground every 20 seconds.

Reem was so worried about Werdum pulling guard that he was overly cautious with his striking as well.

Odd performance from both guys but I don't know why Overeem seems to get all the blame for it.

Brock is always very aggressive; even if Reem wanted to dance around he'll have to engage. But that fight wasn't typical for him at all anyway. However this goes, I can't see how it will be boring.

Probably because he didn't do anything on his feet for the reasons you said. Is he that scared of going to the ground in dominant position?

Damn, Zuffa has a ridiculous amount of cards left in 2011, with some big, big gaps to fill. ELEVEN events left in the year for UFC!

12/30/2011 UFC 141 - Lesnar vs. Overeem MGM Grand Garden Arena,
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

12/10/2011 UFC 140 - TBA Air Canada Centre,
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

12/3/2011 UFC - The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale The Pearl at the Palms,
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

11/19/2011 UFC 139 - TBA HP Pavillion,
San Jose, California, United States

11/12/2011 UFC - UFC on Fox 1 Honda Center,
Anaheim, California, United States

11/5/2011 UFC 138 - Leben vs. Munoz National Indoor Arena,
Birmingham, West Midlands, England

10/29/2011 UFC 137 - St. Pierre vs. Diaz Mandalay Bay Events Center,
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

10/8/2011 UFC 136 - Edgar vs. Maynard 3 Toyota Center,
Houston, Texas, United States

10/1/2011 UFC Live 6 - Cruz vs. Johnson Verizon Center,
Washington, D.C., United States

9/24/2011 UFC 135 - Jones vs. Rampage Pepsi Center,
Denver, Colorado, United States

9/17/2011 UFC - Fight Night 25 Ernest N. Morial Convention Center,
New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

Big gaps on UFC 139 and 140 to fill. And UFC 138 is one of those weak England events.

Throw in another four for Strikeforce:

12/17/2011 Strikeforce - Melendez vs. Masvidal TBA
11/18/2011 Strikeforce - Challengers 20 Palms Casino Resort,
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
9/23/2011 Strikeforce - Challengers 19 Palms Casino Resort,
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
9/10/2011 Strikeforce - Barnett vs. Kharitonov U.S. Bank Arena,
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States

OK, challengers is no big deal, but they'll either have another event before the end of the year or put the heavyweight tourney finals on the 12/17 Melendez card.

Lots and lots of slots to fill.
