Drama returns for fourth season

Fox has extended "Prison Break's" sentence by another season.

Having seen its third season cut short by the writers strike, "Prison Break" will now be back for a fourth go-round. Fox has ordered as many as 23 episodes from 20th Century Fox TV, insiders said.

Fox aired 12 segs of "Prison Break" this season, averaging 8.2 million viewers and a 3.5 rating/9 share among adults 18-49.

Third season of "Prison Break" revolved around the show's main characters breaking out of a Panama prison. The show's exec producers had crafted a mid-year cliffhanger at the end of the show's 12th episode; that ended up serving as a de facto series finale.

Now, season four will pick up with the characters having escaped prison, and Michael (Wentworth Miller) seeking revenge against the people who killed his love interest. Domic Purcell stars as Miller's brother, Lincoln Burrows.

Paul T. Scheuring created "Prison Break" and exec produces with Matt Olmstead, Marty Adelstein, Dawn Parouse, Neal H. Moritz, Kevin Hooks and Brett Ratner. Adelson-Parouse Prods. produces with 20th.

Also Monday, CBS announced a handful of sked changes, including the return of "Shark," which will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. starting April 29 (with four more episodes) and "The Price Is Right Million Dollar Spectacular," which will air as four primetime specials on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. beginning April 30.

The only reason I care about this is that it means Terminator being renewed should be announced soon since this got roughly the same ratings and even a little worse in some instances. I bailed out at the end of season 2.

They did have a nice massive attack music sequence at the end of one of the episodes. That made the entire season worth watching.

As pioneered by the makers of 24, which is as it stands, is pretty much a joke now. Although it is probably still the front runner in the war porn genre.

I don't think you get to criticize other shows if you're a fan of the Sarah Conner Chronicles.

Also, they need to kill Lincoln. And that bitch, Gretchen.

I've called Sarah Chronicles cheesy fun. I have no illusions it is anything more. If the second season is shit I will call it as such. The first season of Prison Break was good. I was a frequent poster in the threads back in the day. Same with heroes. The fact that both shows went into the toilet after that isn't my fault.

Cool, but has to be handled carefully.

I tend to hate shows/movies when people break or get out of jail, and instead of relaxing enjoying life, they tempt going right back. That stuff gets stretchy and corny real fast. They should focus on the guys who are still in the prison, I don't give a shit about pretty boy anymore.

Prison Break Season 1 was really, really good. I was instantly hooked to it.

Season 2 was a dramatic drop. I watched the first few episodes but could barely bring myself to finish it. After seeing the plot setup for Season 3 though, I was done.

Man this is one of the worst shows on television right now. So painful to see Fox renew this whilst canceling so many other promising series'.

Nice to have it officially confirmed even though all signs pointed to it coming back. I have a feeling they might make it another season after this so they can get to ~100 episodes and thus can put it out for syndication.

I'll be watching to the end for sure. I love this show.

Season 3 really brought the show back to form and focused on the most interesting aspect of the show (the prison politics/breakout). I welcome the fourth season.

I loved seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 was obviously hit by the writer's strike pretty hard, and I thought it was just OK.

Here's to hoping S4 is good!

Season 1 was best. Well thought-out and well executed, abit of drag-out in the end though.

Season 2 was okay. Chasing and all kept everything pretty intense. I really enjoyed it, but not as much as season 1.

Season 3 was.. not that great. Didn't quite enjoy it as much as first two... and same stuff over and over, and got really tired of all the characters, including main ones.

They should have wrapped it up w/ Season 2 at the most... but since I enjoyed season 1 so much, I'm going to see what happens next...

I overall enjoyed season 2 more than season 1. I say this just because them being in prison the entire first season got old. I found that them being on the run was far more enjoyable.

What type of numbers was this doing? I ask because I thought it was doing similar numbers to the Sarah Connor Chronicles so if PB got renewed that would be a good sign for Terminator.

To be fair, that wasn't really the show's fault and the creators tried everything possible to soften the blow.

I haven't finished watching season 3 but from what has been mentioned in this thread, I am assuming Sarah is really dead huh. I know it was a contract problem with the actress and all, but looking at it from a story perspective, it really sucks for Michael because he got in jail for covering up her murder, but she ends up dead anyways. He probably has nothing much left to go for except revenge. Who would have thought that helping break his innocent brother out of jail turn into such jumbled mess huh *_*

I thought season 1 was exceptional, season 2 was good, and season 3 was ass.
I will definitely NOT watch season 4. I used to be a big fan, but they're pushing this idea way too far.

I also heard there is going to be a spin-off with woman breaking out of jail. :|

Well, considering we only really got half of season 3, this was inevitable. The question is whether they will get around to ending it this time around.

Well, no one wanted her to die, the writers didn't want her to die. Won't be hard to say "Fake body". She seemed to be the one being difficult to work with when they wanted her back fro season 3, wonder what changed.

So anyway, I did enjoy season 3 and seeing the aftermath, but I'm really hoping this is it. I may lose interest in this show if they try to go beyond a 4th season.
