Now the question is do I buy a Vita for this or just play it on the 3DS that I already own. (I will own a Vita by the fall anyway I can't resist that sexy screen and I've got like 150 bucks in trade in credit at a local store that's burning a hole in my pocket.)

Zero Escape is a great choice, given the content of both games.
Very pleased about this.
Also; if you have a Vita and a 3DS, I personally recommend the Vita version unless you really, really love the 3D. Either way you'll be getting a kickass game.

You shouldn't but play it anyway, it'll probably add to the impact and it's a fantastic experience (eventually) on its own.

Out of interest, what were the sales in Japan for this like? And did it sell more than 999?
Going by memory:
First week around 9K for 3DS and around 6K for PSV.
999 LTD should be just under 40K.

Came out last week. Sold 9.3k on 3DS, 6.5k on Vita. 999 did 16k first week on DS, 39k lifetime.
