On Topic: Giana Sisters sounds interesting. Are there any other platformers that anyone else can compare it to?

For those considering it, Sonic Generations 3DS is a good game, but not worth the $30 price tag. I say wait for a sale, if we ever get one.

Getting BoF2. But don't get cocky Nintendo, I refuse to pay 8€ for VC games. I got 5€ from them thanks to the deluxe promotion, though.


Okay, Earthbound doesn't count.

Sonic Generations 3DS isn't that bad, a couple of annoying bits but if you wanted a Sonic game on 3DS its, 'ok'.

The problem is the price, it shouldn't be that much lol.

Pretty different. Modern Sonic plays plays very similar to Sonic Rush-style, so levels are mainly 2D, and aside from Green Hill Zone, all the levels represented are different (Sonic 2 has Casino Night Zone over Chemical Plant Zone, S&K has Mushroom Hill Zone over Sky Sanctuary, etc.) I haven't played it yet myself (waiting for $20 or less), but off the top of my head, I know those are the main differences between 3DS & console.

I heard the translations were pretty horrible, so how bad is it?

Not at all. Pretty much a 4th Rush game (with Colors DS being 3) that's super bare-bones. You can tell that it was rushed out the door. It's not unplayable, but it's pretty easily the worst of the Advance/Rush series (though I need to replay Advance 3, to be fair), so unless you've played all those and are dying for some more Sonic, I wouldn't really recommend it.

Gotta agree, it's definitely one of the more safe Sonic games, very mediocore level design and such. But at least it's enjoyable in comparison to it's console brother, that much I can say. And the unlockable missions are nice to pass the time.

FINALLY got Chronicles of mystara, $30 credit redeemed.

It reminds me of old Sonics somehow, but after the first couple of levels it gets very hard. I played on medium/normal difficulty, and died like 50 times on one level. But the checkpoints are pretty well placed (at this difficulty level) and although the game rewards you for not dying very often, it doesn't really punish you if you do. And seems like every now and then the difficulty drops again to less lethal levels.

It has light puzzle elements, but nothing too complex. The gameplay has you switching between cute and punk Giana all the time, but it's a pretty fun gimmick. The level graphics also change when you switch the character...I prefer to play as punk Giana because it makes some of the spikes and traps easier to notice due to more varied color palette. Graphics are good, but not even close to Trine 2. Music is excellent, especially the rock tracks.

Okay, now I'm confused. Thought that my console had automatically downloaded and installed the update above but my Settings says I'm on 3.1.0E, and it says above that the 3.1.0E update was in July.

Has that update gone live yet..? I've had problems accessing Miiverse and Netflix since Wednesday. Fuck knows what's going on.

Edit: Well that's weird, switched from my US DNS settings to my UK DNS settings and everything is working as it should, even Netflix. Weird. Maybe Nintendo flicked a switch somewhere for a few minutes to prepare for this firmware update on the way. Fuck knows lol.

lol, well, considering the Wii U launched within the last 12 months, and the Wii Shop Channel was on life support before then, it's not really too surprising eShop sales have increased a lot.

eShop behemoths like Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem on 3DS no doubt helped a lot too, of course.
