Yeah, from the press release:

Pokédex 3D Pro: The perfect companion application to Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, Pokédex 3D Pro is sold separately and launches in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 8. Players can learn all about their favorite Pokémon, as this enhanced and upgraded version includes detailed information about more than 640 Pokémon featured in the history of the Pokémon video game series. With the new Pokémon Challenge, players can test their Pokémon knowledge in a variety of quizzes. To ensure that players have access to the Pokédex that will aid them the most while playing Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, the original Pokédex 3D will no longer be available from the Nintendo eShop after Oct. 1.

Weird that it comes a month later than Black2/White2

Nintendo World Cup for the Virtual Console. Should've been the NES version, but also great and fun game.

It's amusing that it STILL doesn't have all the announced Pokemon in it; Meloetta and Genesect are nowhere to be seen.

Nintendo has always been ace at pretending that such thing as an international network where people from all over the world can communicate and share information disregarding physical and language barriers outside of official channels and press releases, called "the internet", doesn't exist.

It's not even that; I mean, I can understand them not officially acknowledging the event Pokemon exist until they actually want to use them.

But Meloetta and Genesect aren't in the Japanese version. I mean, there's a big, ongoing arc entirely centred around Meloetta in the anime, and they don't even acknowledge it in the Pokedex.

It's just baffling.

Brazil you should update the OP
3D Solitaire and Castlevania are already released in EU, also the latest FW of the 3ds is 4.3.0-10 if I am not mistaken.

Keep up the good work

Mega Man 2 to the Japanese 3DS VC? That's exciting news!

Obviously we had the initial batch of 10 NES games as part of the Ambassador program, and we got Punch-Out since then as well, but, wasn't sure how much they would continue with bringing non-portable games over to the 3DS VC. Very happy to see that they are continuing to do so (and Mega Man 2 is an amazing game, so that helps as well).

Too bad every month can't be 8-bit month. That was a good amount of VC games available in July. Would be nice for that to be the norm. :(

what about other GBA games, not just the ambassador games. There were more then dozen or so GBA games released if I'm not mistaken
You're mistaken. There were ten, and they were all released to Ambassadors.

They may indeed sell them later though.

Is this the first third-party Famicom/NES game on 3DS VC?

While I like the idea of playing Mega Man 2 on my 3DS this also makes me sad. I personally dreamed that Nintendo would come to their senses and allow NES games purchased on Wii VC to be playable on your 3DS and vice versa. Because all the NES games available on 3DS so far were directly from Nintendo I thought they could give a credit to users who bought a game they already owned. I understand their may be licensing issues and such, but it seems ridiculous to need to re-buy games on 3DS that I just purchased on Wii Virtual Console a few years ago.

Is there any chance LoZ: Four Swords will be available for purchase sometime down the road? I'm still kicking myself for missing the opportunity to download it for free. :(

I'm asking why aren't there GBA (besides the ambassador games) on the eShop

Purely speculation but I'm guessing it has something to do with Nintendo not being fully satisfied with their ability to emulate GBA games on 3DS. Playing the GBA ambassador games makes the 3DS go into a GBA mode kinda like its DS mode, the screen is hella dark and they didn't emulate any of the multiplayer features. Last one is most likely why we'll never get the mainline Pokemon games on eShop either

What, it didn't go away did it? Didn't it just become a paid game after the free period was over?

It completely disappeared from the eShop/DSiWare Shop. It doesn't have a profile like every other game and obviously you can't rate it anymore.

Four Swords is completely unavailable, which surprised me too. I thought they'd simply charge a few bucks for it once the free download period ended.

It's decent evidence that maybe they were serious when they said the GBA Ambassador games are going to stay Ambassador-only. Everyone was like "pshh, they love free money, they'll definitely put them up later," but then you have things like this too. While it may seem stupid to us, Nintendo doesn't always think about what will give them the most profit. It seems like they're going for the "you had to be there at the time" sort of added value so that people will jump on things early. Selling the already-complete and awesome Four Swords for a few bucks is a no brainer, but they've chosen not to, and it wouldn't be surprising if they do it again.

I hope they never put the Ambassador games or Four Swords up for sale. I like having things that other people can't have. :D

The NES games were "Ambassadors first, updated versions for everyone later", and the GBA games were "Ambassadors only, no plans for everyone else" and, as you say, Nintendo's stuck with that. But I remember Four Swords only as being "free for a limited time". Once the limited time was over, I'd assumed it'd go from free to non-free rather than completely unavailable. For a title aimed at getting more people on the DSi's WiFi, pulling it entirely is strange unless maybe they're planning to update it for the 3DS down the line (Flipnote Studio style).

Well the 4 swords thing sucks because I won't be able to play multiplayer when my bro eventually gets his 3DS :(

Bleh, I don't really keep up on the Nintendo downloads usually (just checking in more now as I have a 3DS now) and when I got the last e-mail update from Nintendo I thought the Mario games sale meant that a new Mario game was actually getting added to the service each week, not just a sale on an existing one. Just rubs in how many classic games they really need to get onto the VC service, even just from the portable catalog.

Glad that someone asked about the GBA VC games as well, as I was about to ask the same thing. Really hope those go up at some point, I've found that most of the GB and GBC catalog is just a bit too dated to go back to (with a few exceptions) but the GBA era would be a lot more interesting for me.
