This will be a great month for NA. Glorious catching up! :/

Hope they keep up the VC pace after July...

EDIT: Forgot about picross-e. Seriously, where is it? :(

EvilMario

Will QA for food.
Welp. Those Club Nintendo prizes for July don't quite do it for me. :(

8-bit Summer should be great though. Let's hope Nintendo actually extends it to you know.. forever. At least one release per week, but I know that's asking a lot.

Club Nintendo rewards this month are just meh. Won't be getting anything.

Great thread as always, really excited to play Heroes of Ruin this week.

I believe the Club Nintendo games last until the 15 (electroplankton) and the 22 (Mario Tennis), but I may be wrong. They'll be replaced soon enough :)

Woo, 8-Bit Summer! Starts off with... NES games. Eh.

Will be a good month for Game Boy VC games, though. Bring 'em.
Does it really take long to localize a Picross game?

Have to translate all of those numbers and pictures to English.

Roto13

^^ No. VVVVVV is, for $5. Maybe Super Mario Land 2 at some point in the future, though.

Why does Sonic Labyrinth even exist?

From the schedule, even weeks with crappy Game Gear games are going to have decent-to-great Game Boy games (or Zelda 1 for NES), so whatever.

The worst part is that they are going to end up being $5 each and people who dont know better will buy them :l

Guess you gotta wade through the crap before you get to the goods
Sword of Hajya!

I wonder when (if) TG16 is going to happen? Hudson basically stopped digital releases after the Konami murder, but I hope it's not permanent.

And that's why the eshop will never compete with iTunes. On iTunes you get devs saying "hey look at this awesome game I made!" and then it's uploaded to the app store in an hour. Picross E has been out in Japan over a year now. It's just pathetic. Now Reggie will log in and claim that they can't please anyone.

Jupiter should just combine Picross e and Picross e2 for the western release at this point.

I'm more curious if Genuis Sonority's Denpa Ningen RPG makes it over?

Not defending Nintendo's practices, which from developer stories seem absurd sometimes, but getting approved on iOS store can be equally headscratching and infuriating.

Yes, because of the sheer number of games and apps being submitted daily. Nintendo doesn't have that problem.

Don't expect to see E2 in the West until at least 2014.

The lack of Picross e is kind of baffling. There was a huge space of time when there wasn't much coming out and Picross games can't really take that long to localize. It should have been out months and months ago.

The idea that the eShop will never compete with iTunes because anyone can release any shit they want instantly in iTunes is kind of hilarious, though. By that logic, Steam can't compete with iTunes.

You do realise the app store is split into regions too right? While it is easier to get apps in all regions simultaneously (single submission, no ratings), that still doesn't mean an app can't be delayed several months across regions where localisation is required (Capcom is notorious for long delays between their Japanese and English releases).

In much the same way, the ePicross delay has absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo's regional submission policies. Simultaneous releases across regions are absolutely possible, even if it's not as easy as the app store (See Marvel Pinball as a recent example).

Does Steam maintain a restrictive release schedule and force developers to wait months at a time before their stuff can go up? Nope. Does the eshop? Yep. Does PSN and XBLA? Yep and yep. One of the reasons why I love the iTunes app store so much. It's awash in really shitty and really awesome stuff. Seemingly endless. Whereas most discussions about the e-shop involve questions like "When is <game> finally going to be released?"

Just ignore me. I'm just pissy because the hardest part about being a Nintendo fan is Nintendo.

They probably assume that Mario's Picross on the VC will take care of all of your Picross needs.

If Mario Picross is what you desire, don't overpay for the eshop ripoff. Just buy a used copy of DS Picross and you'll have free access to download all of Mario Picross and Mario Super Picross as free DLC. And it's cheaper (got it for 3 dollars used) than the eshop title.

Picross DS usually goes for $10-15 used, but a new sealed copy will run you $35-60.

Meanwhile I got Mario's Picross for free. :)

For the OP: Pokemon Dream Radar has an specific date in America: October 7. (Same date that Pokemon B&W2 comes out) as announced here.

Speaking of Mario's Super Picross, that never came to NA, did it? That would be a nice release. Hopefully Wii VC will see more support if it continues with WiiU. It has been pretty nice lately

EDIT: also, are the new Pokedex and Dream Radar apps going to be free or priced?

Here it is at Gamestop

A much better bargain when you take into account you get Mario Picross, Super Mario Picross, the entire DS Picross game, and about 200 other extra downloadable picross puzzles. All for 5 bucks.

Gonna be so good on my 3DS XL.
Site says it's unavailable online, and it's undoubtedly card only if you can find a store with stock. A full copy (case, instructions, etc) will run you more.

I agree it's an amazing package, which is why I bought it new way back when. :)

I think the window for Nintendo's own stuff is probably over. Which is a shame since there's still some SNES/N64 classics we're missing (Earthbound, Yoshi's Island, Star Fox, Tetris Attack, Excitebike 64, Pilotwings 64, etc).

Ehh, you have a very rosy view of the App Store.

Basically the only explanation you get for days is "This light turned from red to yellow and I guess I wait for it to go green?"

If it gets rejected, you get no explanation. Same with Steam, actually. You just get told that it wasn't the right fit.

I've never once seen that game anywhere for less than $30.

Just plug your zipcode into the gamestop site and it will show you every store that has it. There's 4 stores within 15 miles of me that have it in stock for 4.99. Maybe I should buy 'em up and sell 'em to you guys for 15 bucks. Then we all win!

Do you really need Tetris Attack with Pokemon Puzzle League already out?

Probably true.

Thats a real shame :(

Maybe they will finally see release on WiiU now that there is a fresh new console to release it on, plus backwards Wii playability. But that may never happen lol

Yes. Aesthetic and nostalgia matter. :[

I would LOVE if Wii U sparked a VC renaissance, but I doubt it. The Wii VC trickle will probably continue for a couple more years, but Nintendo's probably finished. Their last NES game was 2008 and last SNES & N64 games were 2010.

I'd really like to see Nintendo release their old arcade games too.
