Hah. I was just thinking about this game and whether the Paypal total had progressed any and now I see this was bumped up with the same concern.

More importantly but not strictly relevant to this thread: what the hell's going on with Pirate's Curse? Haven't heard anything new about it for quite some time.

The eShop release list had it as Q1 2014.

The last big update was for E3, where they announced the game was coming to Wii U as well as 3DS. The Wii U version uses HD assets for character portraits, menus, etc but is otherwise identical to the 3DS version (minus the 3D, of course). Projected release window for both versions is "late summer" but at this point it seems a spring release is more likely.

There's one last chance to pitch in your dollars, either through PayPal or through upgrading your pledge via the Wayforward site's backerkit. (You need to register)

They are currently at $933,504 and donations end on DECEMBER 16TH at 11:59 PM

What still needs to be accounted for? Two bonus chapters and full VA/Animated sequences. Or, look at this image:

Is there no miracle that can occur to make these possible within 7-8 days? I must see wayforward do animated cutscenes.

I don't care about full voice acting, although the limited voices in Pirate's Curse were great, but I would love the two extra chapters. They sound absolutely great. I hope they at least decide to do the Nega Shantae chapter l even if it doesn't look like the stretch goal is going to be met.

Damn it, I really want all of those, but I've already backed as much as I'm willing, not that that would make a difference.

Really hope to at least get another chapter and voice acting. More content is always awesome, and what little voice work they have had before has been great, and would really improve the story elements.

Check wayforwad's twitter. They said it's done could be here before the end of of 2014.
Don't use Twiter, but glad to know it's done.

Would be very convenient to have the game out this year due to the digital deluxe promotion ending. Maybe people could remind that to the Wayforward friends through the social networks. XD

Oh gosh, I totally forgot about the white-washing issue. The image almost seems like it's making fun of that design:

Thank goodness they fixed it.

Anyway, loving the new art. Super hyped to see it released!

Might as well post the entire update:

Slime, Sand, and Silver (Anniversaries)!

Greetings and salutations Shantaerians and Tinkerbackers!
Say Hello to SlimeGal!

While for most of you it’s been a while since our last update (sorry about that), a smaller group of Backers has been working with the dev team intensely on backer-created content for several weeks now. Today we’d like to reveal the first of our Backer-Designed enemies, the SlimeGal!

The SlimeGal was designed by backer A.J., with his idea being a slime-based enemy capable of changing shape. She’s not overly malicious, just a creature looking for her next meal. A.J. walked us through several design iterations, with him writing additional thoughts, moves, and adjusting to the game’s needs. We worked on dozens of possible designs and color schemes, with A.J. directing us towards the version you see here. We couldn’t be happier with the results, and feel that she fits wonderfully into the existing universe.

We had a ton of fun working with A.J. but we’re not done yet! Animation will continue to draw up key poses while the programming team proves out her base behaviors. Then we’ll get her working in actual environments designed to maximize her move set. And when that’s over, visual effects and sound design team will step in to perform their magic. A.J. sends his regards, and hopes you’ll love SlimeGal as much as we all do! Thank you A.J!

Your Face in Game & Your Art in Game!

We’ve been making progress on “Your Face in Game” Backer NPCs as well, although we do need your help! We’re still missing photos from two of our backers. If you backed at the “Your Face in Game” Reward Tier and did not receive an email, please check your spam filter or email us at support@wayforward.com!

Yesterday was also the deadline for our "Your Art in Game" Backers to submit their fan art for the in-game Museum. We're still missing a large number of submissions from our artists so if you haven't submitted your art, please submit it ASAP. We're extending the deadline until 3/16/2015 at 11:59 PST, but after that we can't guarantee your art can be included. If you backed at the “Your Art in Game” Reward Tier and did not receive an email, please check your spam filter or email us at support@wayforward.com!

Desert World Concept Art!

The team has left Mermaid World behind to work on the Desert World, the Race World, and some revisions needed for the Intro section of the game. The underwater areas have been given a lot of attention in the past months and look absolutely stellar! Here are a handful of images to enjoy.

WayForward turns 25!

Lastly we’d like to invite you to celebrate WayForward’s 25th birthday, which just landed on March 1, 2015. We’ve been doing this for a quarter of a century and love making games for you. To help spread the love, we’re holding some epic sales in the coming weeks on fan-favorite games. Prices range from FREE (this is for you, Vita owners!), to 25%, 50%, and even 75% off. Some sales are restricted to certain territories, so check out our Facebook page for more details. As backers you’ve done plenty for us already, so we’ll say it here – DON’T MISS THE FREE STUFF!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have to say. Slimegal has a really cute design and some amusing attacks.

A goo girl, huh? That's pretty much Mariel's bread and butter. How about a REAL challenge, backers. Never mind there's already a recurring enemy in the series that glops around and shapeshifts breasts when idling.

Man, I want this game so much. I haven't kept up closely, did they give a date yet when we could be expecting it?

You guys know that "backer-created enemies" could be soooo much worse than SlimeGal, right?

Still might.

I'm 100% okay with SlimeGal.

Darn it, and there was me having blown half my Sunday really half-arsing something just to have a submission in on time. Oh, well, maybe I can squeeze in a second pass on it or something (but probably not)

Yeah yeah, I know, leaving things late, but I wanted to play Pirates Curse before committing, and that took forever to get released in Europe, then I was ill and, well, yay Procrastination!

What's the current amount at?

They closed funding back in December so they could finalize their budget, and after adding in post-Kickstarter Paypal donations, the final total was $947,937.

Also, <3 SlimeGal. The first thing I thought of when I saw that artwork though was "thatsmyfetish.gif" lol.

Of course the first backer-made enemy was going to be a slime girl...
Looks adorable, though, and they could go crazy with the animation here.

Man. This thread hasn't been updated in a long time..
We had separate threads for HGH news and updates for a while now...

Just to recap.

Considering this is a voting update.. Perhaps it would be better to make a seperate thread about this one too?

Might as well post the entire update like I did previously

Hi Backers! We’re back with another rip-roarin’ update for you!

Let’s kick things off with another vote. And to vote properly, you’re going to need a little context. Remember that magic carpet race at Cape Crustacean? The chapter you all funded as a stretch goal? Well in that chapter, Shantae and friends need to infiltrate the race and identify the saboteur who’s been stealing carpets out from under everyone’s noses. Rottytops goes undercover posing as one of the Pit Crew, because hey -- why not? Here’s where you come in to flex your mighty voting muscles. Rather than a straight-up A, B, C vote like our previous ones, we’re going for a “two-fer”. You get to vote on a “Head Costume” and also a “Body Costume”. Then we’ll put the winning combination together, and BAM!! Instant Rottytops cosplay.

Vote #3 - Rottytops Pit Crew Outfit poll here!
https://wayforward.com/wayforums/topic/shantae-half-genie-hero-vote-num3-rotty-outfit/

You’ve got one week! Choose your head gear, pick Rotty’s duds, and you’re done. If you want to see what every possible combination is, just use this handy chart.
https://wayforward.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/RottyOptions.png

Boy oh boy, with this disguise, she’s going to blend right in! Oh – in case you’re wondering, this cinematic takes place when playing as Shantae in what we call the “main story mode”. And the final costume won't be gray, we just did that to keep the focus on the style of the outfits. Lock in your votes by Oct 13th 5:00pm PDT! Get votin’!

A Backer Build Approaches!

Oh dear... another backer build already? Yes indeed, that E3 Steam Demo you’ve all been tearing apart and putting on YouTube will be updated this month with a new level. We won’t blow the surprise just yet, but we think you’ll have a ton of fun with it. We’ve got new visual effects, some tweaks to player controls, and improvements all around. The old levels aren’t going away, but they’ve progressed since the previous build. So if you want to play them one last time as they currently stand, better get cracking. Look for that backer build to arrive sometime in October. As always, if you backed at a tier that includes development builds, you’ll need a Steam account. You can always contact us for help at support@wayforward.com

Poor Scuttle Town never gets a break! If it did, our Guardian Genie would have a very boring job. Yep, pirate attacks are a way of life in this burg as you can clearly see from these latest concepts.

Bah2WbK.gif

And here’s Shantae sporting her jammies! This is an example of our newly refined animation system which uses a combination of traditional hand drawn animation and custom created “Spine” rigs. Pretty dang awesome.

Other Stuff!

Shantae is heading to Japan!
Thanks to our partners at Intergrow, Shantae will be arriving in physical form in Japan. Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be getting a boxed version! It’s crazy! Such a thing hasn’t happened since Capcom did it on Game Boy Color in 2002. No one puts Baby in a corner, but Intergrow puts Shantae in a box! So if you live in Japan, or love to import games, you’ll want to keep a close eye on Intergrow in the coming months.

Mighty Switch Force! Adacemy!

There’s a brand new way to get involved with game development at WayForward. This time it’s not through crowd funding, but via Steam Early Access! The next game in WayForward’s Mighty Series is “Mighty Switch Force! Academy!” This game focuses on Patricia Wagon’s Academy courses... simulations designed to test your shooting and thinking skills. By getting the game, you’ll have access to the Steam Forums and a direct line to developer Austin Ivansmith (that Ducktales guy). He’s working with fans directly, taking comments, trying level ideas, and updating the game organically. The number of levels and features just keep on growing – now with 4 player mode and ump-teen levels! The game will release officially to multiple gaming platforms once development is complete. But if you enjoy the journey as much as the destination, click the link below and be part of the fun!

Thanks! We’ll see you next time! And don’t forget to Vote!

Forgot to say.
2 or 4 for the head gear and C or D for the costume. Guess I have a week to decide

every time this thread pops up I am rushing in hoping I can buy this game at retail now :)

Still expected holiday 2015 for now but it might slip.
Also. The japanese physical release seems to be on Intergrow only. Doubt WayForward will release a physical retail version.
