Dudes just got into work on the best coast.
Also as someone who visits the place regularly, Nintendo World could NEVER host a tournament of Apex's size unless you tell people to chill in Radio City Music Hall and that pizza place/chinese buffet up the block while pools are playing, lol.
Keep in mind that NOA employees probably just got into work 45 minutes ago.

Is Nintendo World even big enough to hose an event of that size? I know they've been able to host their own tournament there in the past, but that was just for one game.
Isn't twitch located in CA?
This call for Nintendo stepping up makes little sense. Shouldn't it be the call for someone to(like what happened)? Not specifically them?
Just hand it to Armada and androidI think it's a likely possibility that doubles will be dropped this year.
It would be that for anyone who stepped in though. At least to some notable and worthwhile extent.I'm not saying it's not a massive screwup on their part or anything for them to not do anything, whether they could or not at this point. But it would have been extremely beneficial for them from a PR standpoint if they had been the ones that "saved the day" and not Twitch.
There's drama but there's a lot of great people working together because they give a shit about this stuff.Man, it seems like Team Spooky, Twitch, all these organizers are different camps but I will be damned if they don't pull together when shit goes down. Any more rants on how established TO's are A-holes seems to go right down the toilet, they are clearly working hard and if you think this is happening at no cost you are nuts. Even if Twitch/ Big N foot the bill, someone had to volunteer to get the ball rolling no doubt. Good on everyone holy shit.

What twitch is doing sounds amazing too. I figured a new venue of proper size was basically out of the question
It's good to see they're working hard to make this happen. Such an unfortunate series of events for the organizers but I'm glad to see they might be able to pull through.
Who cares if that irked "some people"? Nintendo doesnt need to step in to save people, especially one that already have an irrational dislike for them.Of course.
But there is still some disdain in the Melee (and PM, as you'd imagine) community about Nintendo's involvement with what was once a grassroots scene, it would have been a good way to get on their good side. Especially after the "mishap" where NoA only tweeted about Smash 4 at Evo and completely ignored Melee. I know that irked some people.
Goddamn lolWhat is this, a Virtua Figher tourney?

Probably a good thing this happened. Whoever pulled that alarm could have hust saved some lives.
Smash community for youGlad they were able to get help. However, it boggles my mind how some people expect Nintendo to step in and do something about this.

lmao can't resist making jabs can youSmash community for you
Just looking for Nintendo to prove they have passion for the scene and aren't just opportunistic.

Pretty much. For those saying Nintendo missed an opportunity, realize that those at the event are probably:
A. Not authorized to approve spending.
B. Don't have the means to get approval in such a short time span.
Someone could've been killed because of their negligence. Taking money for the event while pretending nothing was wrong is bullshit.
This is just a catastrophe. Wonder what the TOs are gonna do now.
Pretty much.
I'm sure JC or Bill would probably love to help, but they'd have to go through the bureaucracy, all the way to the decision makers in Japan. NoA doesn't seem to be a company that can just quickly do whatever it wants/should.
This was my reasoning as well. They're still doing an announcement right? For those saying Nintendo missed an opportunity, realize that those at the event are probably:

Most likely, yes. This was my reasoning as well. They're still doing an announcement right?

More like Alex Strife with one last gift.Man apex 2015 is cursed. Call it the project m curse.

"Git to da choppah!" the organizers cried as the APEX building sunk into a mile-deep crater.
As the helicopter flew into the sunset, the gamers blinked back tears as they watched the booth for F-Zero WiiU sink into the earth.
"We don't have backup code," said Iwata, who was wearing a sideways baseball cap and was attending the convention for some reason. "Guess we'll have to cancel."
