hopefully this game has actual scale and makes these creatures SoTC size or else I'll be disappointed. the concept art is cool but it would make me more hyped if the world has some size to it.

I don't know why but this design really stands out to me, I absolutely love the design they've used for the head. It's almost got a 1960s sci-fi feel to It.

There's nothing wrong with the others as I like those too but they're far more what I would expect from this sort of thing.

its a radar for the head, like the ones of top of awacs planes and you can see the traditional antenna on the back

I could have sworn Shinobi said it's about Witcher 3 size.

So yeah if true it will be huge.

It sounds like they've put together quite a dream team. GG are one of the best in regards to tech and art style but they couldn't write a decent story to save their lives. It's rather odd considering they are great at the world BUILDING part of it (KZ has a pretty rich universe) but they could never capture the nuance of character development and narrative. The fact they now have some great writing talent makes me very VERY happy.

I can't wait to see the explanation of this. I'm guessing it's some post-apocalyptic world where humans are nomadic and machines that survived run rampant? Or maybe an alien machine race comes to earth during this point in human evolution?

Really hyped for a PS4 exclusive, even more so for an RPG. Exclusives have been slim picking since the launch, but the deluge seems on the horizon.

Pretty sure its along the lines of the former.

Would be a nice twist if they made it so its a kind of post-technology society of humans, where they live 'primitively' but still have access to a reasonably high level of something like materials technology in order to hunt robodinos and suchlike.

Perhaps Naughty Dogs need a challenge either than Santa Monica Studios (GoW)...If GG can match the quality NG puts out, then perhaps we can say Sony's 1st and 2nd party is on par with Nintendo's now?

Sony were already better last gen imo.

that would be nice, i know open world is a big thing at the moment but i dont mind seeing a GG game thats open world, theyve been sort of confined to making linear games with the Killzone franchise. hopefully the robodinos are large beasts in the game, would love to see that long neck one actually be that big in comparison to the human characters in the game.

something like this would be dope

I hope its not a strategy RPG. Those games are awfully boring. I can't bring myself to play a Fire Emblem game because of the combat. Its just to fucking slow.

Lead Witcher quest designer in an open world RPG with Dinobots you say?

...

I refuse to be hyped for this until we get more info. So far everything about this game is too good to be true.

Oh my, didn't expect it to be revealed in this upcoming E3. Finally a different kind of game from GG, not to mention it's a RPG! HYPE!

At the end of the day, all we have from this is some concept art and some knowledge of the talent attached to this.

I know, technical wizards like GG can make their concept canvasses come to life in a beautiful way, but every damn high-production value game, or even mid-tier games are capable of having beautiful concept art, because they're just that... Art. It's easy to imagine a grand game concept, but it's down to tech, design and code wizardry that actually brings those art to life. Bruce Straley's burning building analogy applies.

Talent is a great thing. Folks with amazing experience from many of the top-AAA studios, Blizzard, CDPR, Obsidian, etc. But at the end of the day, we're talking maybe 15-30 people out of 250 people in a studio who's probably NEVER done a RPG. They're a FPS studio doing something new and unfamiliar to them, by and large. Games are a team effort, and we've seen flops/mediocre games from established studios, even when they have amazing pedigree, or hell, even when they're making a sequel to a proven formula in the first place, but fucked things up because of design decisions. (Hitman) Or how SSM had a new IP cancelled, even though they're an amazing AAA studio.

I'm very excited for Horizon just because it's a new IP, and new IPs are always exciting, but it's always good to keep expectations tempered. Game development is hard, new IPs are hard.

I remember after Heavy Rain came out, Quantic Dream was developing a game called Horizon that I believe got canned. I wonder if this has anything to do with that
Its not canned actually, it was just put on hold. QD's PS4 game will be Horizon as far as we know.

I wonder what happened to Beyond PS4.
I would assume it either got cancelled or farmed out to another developer and just waits approval by Sony to get released. Wouldn't surprise me if its done since a while and they are just waiting for a better time to release it or maybe they decided to include HR as well and create a collection to increase the appeal.

I doubt the two Horizons are linked in any way btw, but maybe QD and GG plan to cooperate more closely or something (like on tech). At least there was that thing with David Cage appearing in the special thanks credits of KZ SF for seemingly no reason and when asked about it the co-CEO just replied with "you know, we talk to Guerilla a lot and stuff..."

Hermen : You know, that Horizon name you had planned. Give it to us.
Cage : Eh, but we want it...
Yeah that was probably it xD I would kinda like it though if they made 2 completely different games in their respective styles both based on an universe with robo dinos.

This has some people on it that gives it some serious promise. And the concept art is just incredible. I am hoping for the best on this. Quest designer from Witcher makes me really excited, and I just hope there are little to no MMO elements to it.

A quest designer, not lead quest designer.

Shadowfall is still in the top 3 next gen graphics powerhouses.

You take that tech + some time to actually mature and polish the actual game and maybe GG can do something great.

Super interested in seeing what form this takes.

I wonder what happened to Beyond PS4.

I think someone looked though those leaked Sony emails and it turned out Page sued or something over the nude models of her in the game files.

Maybe that put that remaster on the shelf.

(not entirely sure on this. I should look it up again)

Wow, they have some serious pedigrees enlisted for this game.
RPG vets and GG technical wizardry?
I can't.
The hype is too much.

They need to pair this with Morpheus. I hear a lot of people talking about the best VR experience having very large objects that the the player can look at. No better way to show off VR then giant mech dinosaurs walking around.
