More like cheerleader. He seems to have a strong urge to constantly provide free advertising for Microsoft, even with his avatar, which he changed to Tomb Raider the minute this "exclusive" was announced.

The video was ok, no big deal. No need to fight over it.

Major Nelson's swordplay sucks big. I 've seen kittens on Youtube wield better than him.
That explains why he's still a Major and never get a promotion.

Can we stop using this gif as a dig (or, more likely, an implication of his 'fakeness') whenever his name pops up? Criticise the guy's methods by all means if you must, but not like this. Also, try maybe film a video of yourself smiling for hours then pick out some 'comedy highlights' from those moments when your face muscles just can't take it anymore.

It's weird that they do veiled responses to sony deals. And it's weird how characterized their pr people are.

No.

I do find Xbox's reaction to promotion deals held by other companies to be odd.

Xbox has plenty / has had plenty of 3rd party promotion exclusivity and Sony, as far as I know has never attempted these methods to circumvent restrictions.

I wonder if this video will be removed like the Destiny fragrance ad. Well I can't blame MS for trying to get a piece of the pie. Battlefront is going to end up being one of the biggest third party partnerships this fall.

Yup it is a very American way to approach competition

No one else does it, it seems rather small time and desperate.

Major Nelson is all right!

And I'm sooo happy I don't have a public job where I'd face the wrath of angry video game nerds on a daily basis

when even the pr mouthpiece of ms use the usual Victimisation on gaf(its because its xbox, this is sonygaf yaddayadda),you know we have reached a new low

i find odd that after the mattrick debacle and phil spencer new direction this guy still have a job,in some ways is the personification of some of the problems MS past years

It really does come across as butthurt.

Why on earth would people get butthurt over a corporation light heartedly poking fun at a deal made between two other corporations that says one corporation has exclusive rights to advertise the other corporation's product?

Honestly think about it, unless you have a personal stake in said corporations, it's a stupid thing to care about.

who is butthurt here? ms for the sw deal? the people who dont find funny? or you in the defense of the ad?

They are the only one doing it, it comes across as small time and bitter.

When lack of market share hurts the ability of your wealth to buy friends, lash out in faux comedy, pretend we aren't bitter video skit or "perfume" add.

Look at all the deals MS got last gen, Sony didn't bat an eyelid, did their own stuff and still matched the 360 for console sales.

That's how you do it, not with Phil Spencer saying we don't care what the competition does and then release this.

Major told the truth at least.

It's sad, a lot of Microsoft/Xbox threads turn into 1-4 pages of trolling and some even get locked because they are so bad.

Why is everyone so serious? Its just a light hearted video which he got asked to make and this thread is full of pointless, childish, personal insults.

Grow up.

They're poking fun at something gaf largely thinks is anti-consumer. Don't be so upset by it.

I would imagine the person at Sony who worked to get that Battlefront marketing deal doesn't think the video is just light hearted.

Why do you assume people are being "so serious" to dislike something?

*Chilled out....and yep, the ad is still not funny!!*

I would imagine that specific guy doesn't care at all, Sony the company that paid for the deal cares... but I doubt the specific guy that negotiated the deal gives a crap.

I don't think anyone cares what that guy thinks though lol.

It's weird that is your take away from the thread, because honestly, there's barely been any posts with personal insults. The majority of posts over these eight or so pages, are just people saying the video sucks, offering their reasons why, others saying it's ok, and then others just generally having a laugh etc. It's not "full of pointless, childish, personal insults" as you're trying to make out, or have for whatever reason perceived it.

Exclusive footage capture of that marketing rep after watching this video...

Holy shit that cracked me up lol.

I'm not, unlike people in here, I watched this smiled because of its attempt at humour, and got on with ny life.

No you're not. You're reading words on a website, and in your mind you're creating a persona for the person who write those words and then you made a post denigrating their behaviour, which as we've acknowledged is actually in your head.

I'm not upset, just pointing out the difference in behaviour. I particularly don't care from an emotional standpoint, its just a silly video but its interesting to study for the reaction of MS to these events and the two different narratives coming out of the company.

Also exlcusive promotion deals are not anti consumer.

If that is the case, surely the TR threads should be full of that narrative also, and that stopped a game appearing on another console.

Let's not get into that. That is a different beast altogether.

They are, aren't they?

Ugh...I really despise the word 'narrative' in that context.
