I didn't know SWARM did well enough to get a sequel, that's pretty awesome. Maybe this is what VR "movement shooters" are meant to be, not Doom-likes.

The mobile Quest 3 update looks better than the PS4 Pro version that I owned. Dynamic shadows, more zombies, and higher resolution. Not to mention light years better tracking and wireless. Step in the right direction, but they should have had this ready by Quest 3's launch imo.

Stuff like this might be better on PCVR. The second chapter is available for less than $15 on instant gaming HERE. They also had the first version available not too long ago for under $10. Might be worth considering.
Some referrals for standalone quest stuff, these are ones that I personally think I worth having standalone vs. on PC VR, especially stuff that's fun to show off or not available elsewhere, or needs very low latency:

Interesting tidbit about the Wizards: Dark Times...
The graphical enhancements were supposed to come in the Brotherhood patch, but it seems they focused on the Quest platforms and ended up gimping the PC version.
When people found out about it, they ended up being called out, and they went radio silent for a week. Then it really started blowing up as more people began to notice, until eventually they acknowledged that it wasn't up to the playerbase standard, and they would "fix" it.
The reality is that they likely never made the high quality PC assets, and there should not really be anything to "fix", they downgraded good assets they already had. The whole thing is quite shady. The game is enjoyable though as far as I underatand.

As for Beat Saber, seems they finally gave us PC graphics on Quest 3? That's what it looked like on the trailer at least. Tempted to get rid of my modded version and update to the most recent one...Seems the modding scene hasn't been updating things...

I forgot to add this🤦‍♂️

Please leave the quote in full since it switched pages and just name drop the game you mean :p

Probably shenanigans, they're using AI art or whatever I believe, small scale non interactive medidative environments not much unlike your home area maybe, spiced up with audio, visuals and maybe some reaction to your movements, Idk how that sort of app is usually made or works, but we'll see.

visuals look really good on that, i cant wait to open my quest 3 at the weekend. happy bday to me :messenger_beaming: my aubika head strap arrived today so ready to go. res evil 4, beat saber , asgards wrath 2 and jurassic world collection to start with.

Kind of surprised quest 2 still essentially the king. Although maybe black friday sales helped? I've got no idea what kind of sales they had on quest 2.

Fuck yeah. Swarm is one of my favorite VR games. Really looking forward to this.

Xbox Game Pass has dropped on Quest 2/3.
I'm having issues trying to get my Xbox controller to work with the app.

Well deserved (wasn't me), I really appreciate these news updates.

I also think a lot of people don't realize what they are missing if they never given VR a proper shake, but it's not the easiest thing to get into. Slowly putting together a website to help address some of this as many of the guides online are just wordsalad and too much info all at once.

Man I started my VR journey in 2023 with the release of Quest 3, and there's just so many damn games. The fun thing about many of these games it's stuff you can play for a loooong time, like the rhythm/fitness games, even some of the wave shooters.
There's just stuff that works so well in VR that wouldn't work in 2D, a good example is the game Barbaria (also a game that can be played for quite some time).
Throw in some racing and flight simulation and you're playing forever. Much thanks for the updates :)

Nice to see more companies roll out Quest 3 updates, even if it's just a framerate and resolution bump, that makes a world of difference.
Some games I'm like I'll tolerate Q3 graphics over PCVR just to avoid the extra step of virtual desktop and maybe have to fiddle less with steamVR being obnoxious.

Yeessss.
Been waiting for In Death Unchained to update. That game is lit. Also on sale right now for 40% off.
Also have been waiting for this. One of my long time favorite games. Of course my wife is using the headset atm so I can't test it out. I can't wait for christmas day for my daughter to open her Quest 2 so I can make them use that ☺️

Pond Scum looks like a fun little indie platform game, don't ignore it just because of the plain release announcement tweet (I posted a trailer earlier on Dec 11, there's just no new one for the launch day).

I'm eventually going to download gymclass. I tend to like sports games in VR. Problem is I know it's going to be infested with kids.

here's a neat trick to save a few bucks

When buying inside the Quest-Store via my Quest 3 headset (not the app!), I get the option to add one of some suggested games for an additional 10% off. It says if you add 2 games, you get 25% off the final price. This wouldn't be that great because of referrals, BUT this stacks with the ongoing sale on ALL games! Referrals aren't stackable with it.

I played through the entirety of Metroid Prime 1 in VR with that old branch of Dolphin and it was almost flawless from start to end. I tried it before but the framerate was erratic, stuttery and even had some ugly slowdowns in some areas, until Virtual Desktop gave me the solution: Put the headset in 60hz mode, then the game ran perfectly smooth.

In retrospect it was ovbious, those games weren't designed to run at anything other than 60fps and trying to shoehorn then into 72/80/90hz was going to give problems. I'm glad VD allows for 60hz refresh rate and I hope they never take out that feature because neither Airlink nor Steamlink support lower than 72hz for some strange reason.

I think I'll be sticking to 60hz for everything from now on and bump up the resolution/detail in other games.

Isn't there a way to play a pc version of Assassins Creed Nexus? I got it recently but it only plays from the quest 2 store and it is super blurry. Maybe it's because i ve been playing psvr2 games lately but i feel the pc version would be much cleaner.

They do have a pc store did they just ignore it?

It's Quest exclusive at the moment I'm afraid, hopefully Ubisoft will port it at a later date.

Meta is all in on the Quest eco system and is abandoning PCVR, for now at least. It is just a matter of if the devs of a certain game want to port it to PCVR or not.

On quest 3 it's not blurry at all.

It's been a long road, but we're finally here.

This is the initial release of UEVR, a universal tool for enabling VR in UE4 and UE5 games.

Supported versions
Unreal Engine versions 4.8 - 5.3

The MechWarrior 5 mod is a neat (first?) case of a mod made to work alongside Praydog's UEVR injector as that handles the VR rendering functions and what not but the game has been further modified to accomodate VR best with new cockpits, 3D HUD and other gameplay & visual elements 🔥

MechWarrior 5 in VR looks great especially with the added mods you mentioned. I've got the game just need to get motivated the same time I have some free time ;)

That said i'm kind of impressed they modded eyetracking into bigscreen and didn't totally screw up the form factor, pretty much implies the only reason headsets don't all use it is probably because of cost and/or battery life. I'm not sure many would care with bigscreen being 10% heavier, it's already really light.

Yeah mechwarrior 5 feels like a native VR game now. Played about 4 hours yesterday and had an absolute blast.
Atomic Heart is soooo damn good in VR too. This mod has completely changed pcvr from a declining option to the best. This isn't slowing down anytime soon. They can easily get 3-5 AAA games going a month that feel near native with profiles designed for each game.

I just picked up Mechwarrior 5, it's 50% off on epic currently. Does anyone know if it works well with a flight stick, that's my preffered way to play mech games. Also how does it compare to Vox Machinea? I played a little of that and it was ok but felt a little low budget.

It's harder than Vox but much bigger budget all the way around better.
