I cannot decide between him and Loran as my favorite gundam protag. They're both real good.
As for wing being worst than Destiny, I don't think so. Wing is saved by great mecha design. Destiny has only a handful of really good mech. The Impulse, Destiny, and Akatsuki are really the only mech that Destiny has that I really enjoy. They both represent what's wrong with AU gundam so it's hard to pick a worst.
Yeah, I know.. not saying I'm tolerate that either, and also Inoue is a detail freak.. He writing/drawing the match play-by-play.. Zeus.
The only team sport that can fit properly in anime form is baseball, due to the turn base nature.

There have been some rounds in the manga that lasted a really long amount of time. The anime really shortened that stuff. It just stands out a bit more in the anime medium compared to in the manga.
Oh come on, Trowa doesn't brood. If he brooded he'd have anything resembling a personality, and Trowa's singular character trait is to be the most important noncharacter on the show. His GUNDAM has the personality, not him. And Wufei doesn't brood because brooding implies quiet of some sort, and Wufei is too busy being an arrogant ass to be quiet for one darn episode.
If anybody other than Heero broods, its Quatre. And Quatre's redeemed for being my first taste of a "Break the Cutie" in a show. Adorable widdle Quatre freaking out and blowing up a colony is one of the best parts of the show.
How can you even say that Shinn being a little bitch about how the Athha's sold him out (by choosing not to sell out!), and his absolutely horrible romance with the Gundam Courtney Love is better than even the worst moments in Gundam Wing? The first 36 episodes of SEED Destiny are divided like so: 1/3 Shinn/Stella awfulness, 1/3 retread of the plot of SEED, which was already a take on the plot of MSG, and 1/3 Athrun or Kira sparing us from utter boredom. The Athrun and Kira stuff was all that kept that show from sinking into horror.
Athrun was a total badass, and Kira at least had a good reason to be a crier. Where did Kio get off alternating between crying and shouting WHEN HE NEVER HAD A MOMENT'S HARDSHIP? I will take Athrun and Kira over Kio anyday.
After all, there was only one good character in Gundam AGE, and he wasn't an xrounderxrounderxrounderxrounderxrounderxrounder

So this thread kinda counts as the Anime OT right?
Its easier to compare your fast read to real time flow, than 20+ minute for wasting a round.
The match are also more fast and brutal without hear the boxer talking in the head for 5 minute or so.

Makoto is a fucking boss, the bride girl (the red haired unnamed one, not Azusa) is totally shallow (HEY YOU'RE ACTUALLY HOT AND RICH, I GUESS I'LL MARRY YOU AFTER ALL), and what the fuck happened in this episode I don't even know.

I guess it really depends on if you are marathoning the manga/show or keeping up. You can easily blast through a chapter of ippo in a min or 2, but then you have to wait an entire week, in which I rather prefer a 20min eps weekly.
But if marathoning, i'd probably prefer the manga, but I still feel like the show is worth watching, because fuck is it extremely well animated for a 70+ eps long show, and season 2 was also impressive.

Wanted to ask a question but wasn't really up to making a thread in Off Topic about it.
Anyway I was thinking about Cowboy bebop the other day, and what exactly makes it so good that it's prominently listed in most Top 10's of Anime? Before anyone goes overboard I have watched the entire series and the movie, and did enjoy them. But the whole time watching I felt like I was missing something. But to get it out of the way now the music is definitely top notch and you wont see me arguing about that.
I don't know what it is but I liked the characters, and everything else yet I can't walk away from the show saying it was one of my favorites or one of the best. The only thing I'm thinking of is that perhaps I was expecting things more like what we saw with Spike's Past, Vicious, and what not.
The Church Window Scene and Ending were especially my favorites

1.)Hell yes the Gundam just dual wielded against Mquve'. I mean, I'm pretty sure the Freedom dual wielded at some point, but beam-spam was its forte, just as BFG was the Wing Zero's and being fugly and useless the AGE's, but when you're just the Vanilla Gundam and you're up against a guy in his cheap, knock-off Gundam, you're gonna have to pull out your stops, and DUAL WIELDING is totes one. Go Amuro! Also Frau Bow x Amuro time in this episode, Tomino teasing us with the least naked Seyla possible (after a buck nude Frau Bow and Mirai, cuz, you know, you wanted that) and even Charservice.
It's obvious Frau Bow x Amuro isn't gonna happen, though, as EVERY TIME a woman is swept off the board for Frau, another comes along into Amuro's life. Our latest is Lalah, who, in spite of being obviously infatuated with Char (who can blame her?) is undoubtedly going to be drawn to Amuro, since they're bothX-Rounders SEED Bearers Zero System Operators "those NewTypes".
Most hilarious part of the episode was the guy regretfully thinking about a jar. I mean, WHAT.
And also, Texas will eventually jettison itself into orbit or something. Space Colony Texas.

The show was incredible for its time.
It suffers from many other shows usig the same ideas and character types in more recent shows, which diminishes the impact it makes on people today.
Sailor moon suffers from a similar recency bias.

Ahh I can definitely see that now that I think about it.
Though in that regard what about Evangelion? Off the top of my head I can't think of to much else like it (Though I wouldn't mind finding some). I decently watch anime, but definitely not in the realm of knowing it like most in this thread.
So, soft femdom and forced hygiene... I need to get into these shorter shows.

GJ-bu episodes are normal-length.
Evangelion may not have created so many copycats, though it has a few like Eureka7 and more directly RahXePhon, it did forever change anime. So many popular character archetypes were popularized by eva. The reason you see so many Rei/Asuka/Misato types in anime can be attributed in large part to the heavy influence of eva. You could say eva kind of ruined a lot of anime in a way.
It made tsunderes and kuuderes more popular.

Bokurano is like the quintessential Evangelion clone, but more depressing.
In addition, Madoka is the quintessential Bokurano clone.

Now I'm tempted to do a rewatch.
I kind of want to refresh my memory on the first season to compare it with my opinion on Rebellion.
I tried to avoid such insider language since they said they haven't watched much anime, but that's totally it. The reason you see so many Tsundere personalities in anime is directly Asuka's fault.

I always find it strange that I hear "Rei clone" a lot of the times for kuudere characters and have never once heard of an Asuka clone. Oh well, at least it was what potentially gave us Yuki Nagato.
I feel like that's because there's way more Tsundere characters than Kuudere. When there is a character like Rei, it feels a lot more like copying and less like playing off an archetype.

I was looking into that, and definitely was surprised that there really were so many influences in other anime when it comes to the other character archetypes.

Seems interesting enough might have to go and check both of them out.

I have come to the conclusion that Nichijou 16 is the absolute best episode of the series.
- Mio's amazing freakout (DRAGON SCREW LEGWHIPS FOR EVERYBODY)
- The genius coffee shop sketch (D-D-D-D-DOPPIO?!)
- Yukko visiting Nano's house
- The "character eraser" sketch (Which features one of Mai's greatest trolls ever)
It's just so good. Best episode. I think it's going to be the episode I recommend to people from here on out.
