I still think the live action movie did the whole time travel gimmick in a more interesting way.

But I'll admit that having the girl
travel back through time herself
makes for a more interesting story.

I thought that film kind of lost its way, and it was just too long.

Hahaha, that was pretty good. I got the feeling that this episode was somehow closer to the show's "main plotline" than the others, since Ryoko was suggesting that
they should spend their time honing their wind controlling skills.

I love how Nao doesn't give a damn about her friends' relationship.

Both the umbrella and the
Cat-amari
scenes were pretty surprising and fun, haha.

I'll be honest, other than the broad strokes, I don't really remember anything about the film.

Yeah, I've just been reminded of that fact! I think it's safe to say (to those who may be interested), that it isn't a patch on the original film.

I can only seem to remember the twist, that the boy in the past is destined to die.

If firehawk can find a good story in space babies and psychedelic lights, he can probably find a good story in anything.

Are there any websites that you guys trust for reviewing anime old and current? I'm always wary when reading about the older shows that the nostalgia effect is in place with the reviewer.

Also, are there any informative, witty, and well-written blogs about anime and its culture? Something a casual could dip into and still enjoy?
(NB: If you think there exist more than seven videogames with good writing, I don't personally consider you qualified to answer this question)

Finally, are there any internet places offering a more academic slant on its analysis? You know, beyond the usual thinking that Neon Genesis Evangelion has philosophical depth or something because it has Christian references and angsty soliloquies.

passcode: there are no games with good writing, there's only about 30 good games total period anyways

Which live-action? The recent one or the 80's original?

Hosoda's TGWLTT is very nearly an original work anyway. There's not much left in the movie that connects it to the original work outside the title, themes and minor riff raff.

It's one of those things where the original work (short story) is so wafer thin that I'd be difficult for it not to come across as a mostly original work - the structure of the story (and most the things people complain about in the movie) were there in the book, but it's so lightweight that he had to add that much original content just to make it movie length.

CODE: BREAKER OVA1

FUCK YEAK MORE CODE BREAKER WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

First two parts were just gag shorts but the third one was a far more somber flashback featuring Hitomi and the
death of a fellow Code: Breaker.
Damn good stuff really. Oh and I can't forget about Nyanmaru, the second best character in the show
that isn't puppy.

This was another great episode. I like episodes based around storms. It's always fun to watch the storm gradually develop in the background. Paranoia Agent has a completely different tone (practically an opposite tone), but its storm was also handled really well.

Nao is a true artist. She doesn't need to listen to money-hungry producers like Miki.

Speaking of which, I wonder if this show breached the Manabi line.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to say. I thought their plan was dangerous and unnecessary, but everything worked out, so whatever.

There's a nice note of ambiguity at the end. I like how it rolled into the episode preview.

Well, it really doesn't look like a show that had any chance to sell well.

Toradora OVA

Almost all of this episode was wasted because Ryuji was being a competitive dumbass to someone who didn't even know they were in competition (or knew Ryuuji existed), but quite frankly anything with more Ryuji and Taiga being toradorable would probably get an A++ rating from me for the forseeable future.

God I love this show

Ami and Kitamura actively shipping Ryuji and Taiga at the end was lolz tier. I wonder when in continuity this takes place - probably somewhere just after the conclusion of Kitamura's arc.

Also the only thing good about the chibi shorts is Taiga and Ami with wagging tails and cat/dog ears. They're not very funny otherwise, but still... MOE~

Excellent. Wonder if they'll keep doing them after it begins streaming on Niconico (March 16).

As for this PV, 0:00s of Kurumi footage = 0/10, would not watch again.

Cute little slice of life series set in the countryside. It's the sort of thing that'd bore me quickly if it were an anime, but in bite-sized chapter chunks it's fairly entertaining.

Welp.

Now I'm tempted to do a rewatch.
I kind of want to refresh my memory on the first season to compare it with my opinion on Rebellion.

Yeah I haven't seen Rebellion yet and I'm not even sure I've seen the second season for that matter. Decided to play it safe and do a refresher watch first.

On further reflection, these Toradora chibi shorts are something closer to an inexplicably food-related nightmare in audiovisual form
