AusGAF 5/5 - Everything's Amazing and Nobody's Happy, a rental at best

What would fit through those holes? They're smaller than a pencil
They're pretty big holes. I think you could get some finer pencils in there. The reason they're so big is for stuff like this:

The case really looks unfinished without it. Almost half the top of the case is for mounting shit.

E7B upper level theatres? They are the worst, borked air con and tiny seats.

Nice, ganbatte!

Also, first year girls:eek:

Sitting in Price right now listening to the philosophy behind legal remedies actually. It's not sweltering but it's sure as hell not comfortable.

Meeting people, still difficult :T

Clooney really goes out with an ex WWE Diva? really?

Are you serious? It's not like she's a pornstar. (I'm looking at you Carlton from Fresh Prince).

Why on earth wouldn't you. She is hot as fuck, Have you seen those legs? Good lord.

Yes!

Nope, DDR3 is dirt cheap atm. I grabbed 4GB for $29 not too long ago and it's been perfect.

Wait, seriously? Where? I want another 4gig ddr3 to get up to 8gig.

damn you two, temptng me with cheap awesome computer things.

Whats like the quietest case that can fit a big ass video card? I hate noise!

Also is the HT worth it to get the i7 over and i5?

Also, does anything use usb3? It seems like the uptake is slow >.<
The most noise anything would (or should) make in your case is the GPU fan. I didn't go out of my way to buy a "silent" case (Coolermaster 690-II Adv.) and the only noise I ever hear is when the GPU fans arc up. That 5970 is a motherfucker. BTW my particular case needs to have a drive cage removed to fit a bigger card in, so be wary of that if you were thinking about it. Having said that, the case with a near-silent CPU cooler (I have the Thermalright Macho, as good as the all in one watercoolers, quieter and far cheaper) and a Noctua fan (that I had laying around) at the rear. It's a tight fit, but minus the GPU you don't even know it's on. My NAS makes more noise!

For illustration:
1BMCn.jpg

(Note the distance b/w the CPU HSF and the rear case fan. Also note that I can't actually use the first RAM slot either! This is pre-5970 so the lower HDD cage is still attached.)

It doesnt just come with BF3 though, it comes with ORIGIN too burn!

>.<

Whats the best cheap 1155 mb?

Thinking of getting a cheap mb and a 2500k to tide me over for awhile
The AsRock Extreme 3 Gen 3 is cheap and does a REALLY good job. Only worthwhile stepping up the Gen 4 if you want (I think?) dual 16x PCI-E 3.0 for CFX or SLI and possibly some more USB 3.0 and SATA3 ports. But I've never found the need. Paid around $140 I think?

FWIW, that combo with some Ripjaw RAM and the 2500K nets me 4.9GHz <70C under load.

Also there isn't a major difference between brands. Most will use reference boards, Some will throw on their own cooling solution, Different warranty and crap in the box.
Yup. The only difference is in things like warranty and after-sales support.

Fake edit: Apologies if this covers old ground, had this tab open while doing other stuff at work. It should still help though :)

I thought they were speed holes. To make the computer go faster.

Carlton's doing a porn star? Dang.

Hey PCAusGAF... I currently have 8Gb running in my PC. I can't get to the first slot on my mobo because of the zomgawesome CPU HSF, is it worth me dropping another 4Gb in there if it means losing my dual-channel RAMmy config?

My 'puter that I bought last year has a cheap ASRock 1155 mobo. Case is a 690-II, got a 2500k, 8gb ripjaws and a 560ti trucking along. Just running stock cooling though. Runs cool enough, obviously gets loud while gaming. Even managed to stay within good temps in this 35+ degree heat. No problems with it yet, runs games awesome. *touch wood*

Also Stacey Kiebler is hot, whatchu talkin' 'bout Choc?

With the cheap price of Ram thesedays there is no such thing as 'too much'. You can get 16 gig at 1600mhz for $110.

The more the better.

There is such a thing as "no benefit whatsoever to videogames in the forseeable furture". If you're using that RAM for something else, I agree, why not.

What do I do with a now useless i7 920?! Boooooo.

Sad thing is, even if I wanted a new 1366 mb, theyre all out of stock and end of life >.>; boo

I've seen the odd game chew up a stupid amount of RAM
32bit applications, ie video games, can only use up to 4GB. Hardly any games have 64 bit versions, Crysis is the only one I can think of. I believe there wasn't much difference between it and the 32bit version anyway, but it probably helped for crazy mods.

If you're referring to my post, it has nothing to do with the top fan. The HAF 912 is designed so you can add shit on to it, and if you don't plan to do that, it doesn't look right and it's pretty easy to drop large sized shit into it given the holes are abnormally large. The CM690 II has a top fan too.
Never had a problem. Mine came with a top fan installed. Runs SUPER quiet, barely even know the PC is on. MSY had it for $90 when I grabbed it last year.

Well my 1366 MB is dead and to get a new one is pretty much too much of a head ache >.<

I assume my cpu is fine, everything else seems find, its just the mb is resetting constantly when I put power into it, unplugged everything and even took out the cpu, still screwy.

Um... I dunno, pay for shipping?

Um, should my after market cpu fan work on 1155 mbs >.>? I should check....

TwinFrozr cards are meant to run quiet. My mates 560ti is super impressive and is card I have had my eye on for the last 12 months.

Also grab a CPU cooler. Coolermaster 212+ is around $30 and a great option, super easy to install. I think the 212 Evolution is the new model of it released this year.

But not a radiator mounted to the top, right? The fan is inside? I'm sure it's perfectly functional, but it looks pretty low rent if you're not going to attach anything to the top. I was pretty disappointed when I bought one for someone else and discovered it basically looks like patchwork on the top, compared to the slick looking CM690II.

Radiator? No just a regular stock fan. Can't say I worry too much about what the top of the case looks like since I am the only one who would ever bother to look at the case for its aesthetics. I end up sitting the hub for my wireless headphones in the middle of the fan usually as it is a nice spot for it while still allowing airflow out up through the case. Seems to throw out a lot of air which is great I expect.

If I worried that much about looks I would go with a sleak case like Cookie (or the PCGAF thread) talked about. Some very SVEN looking ones that would look awesome if I had a modern looking office.

What a terrible article >.>;

Like the worst article I have read in the history of the universe.

Sounds like one of those great 'Immigants gettin welfare pensioners sick!' emails that do the rounds every so often.

according to megalogenis of the Australian, a fair chunk of the debt could be traced to tax cuts from Howard years when they thought that Australia would have surpluses forever.

For twice the price? Why? For $6 more you can get a good looking case that does what the HAF 912 does for most people including you. I would get a Silverstone if I had $200+ to spend on a case. If you're giving advice to other people, looks matter.

Disappointingly Blizzard are having huge issues with the login system for the Diablo 3 beta. Downloaded last night (thanks to Fogz) so I was ready to go, but no dice. Apparently heaps of new accounts are affected. Lame!

Ahahah.

How was Golden Abyss, Yug and other vita players?

I quite enjoyed it actually - I mean, if you love Uncharted (and how could you not), then you'll love Golden Abyss.

Yeah, alot of the touch screen mechanics are gimmicky - though some are fun, and some are quite clever. Nothing that completely detracts from the game itself, most of the time it's optional anyway.

I played Diablo III for about thirty minutes today.

What's the video game response of michaelbluth'her?'.gif?

Why did they get rid of talent trees and skill points?
