If that's the case then the choice would be easy, two versions for the price of one.
Hopefully it's true
It would be cool, but aren’t crossbuys usually done through the Oculus PC/Rift store? I don’t want to wait, but Cross-buy would be cool. Oh well, I guess I’ll just go with my gut and get the Quest 2 version.

Yeah if you want it now then you have to choose on the platform. Personally I think Oculus is making a mistake to not have both versions on their store day one

Just beat the boss the first time and I’ve now played every character. I think I’ve spent 6 hours in game and barely scratched the surface. Honestly this might be one of my all time favorite games not just in vr. It’s really fun drinking a beer and strataguzing with some randoms. I couldn’t imagine how much fun this is to play with a group of friends. Trying to get the crew to pick it up.

I’ll have to play it more but it really does make time fly by. Seems to have a decent amount of depth and there are some very cool environmental combos. I highly recommend the game to anyone that likes rpgs/strategy games.

We need to have a GAF Demeo squad. I just bought it and downloaded it onto my Quest 2. Gonna hit the bong and jump in. So fucking excited!

I’m down. My headset died but I’ll follow up tomorrow with my ign and tag or whatever it is and whoever wants can add me.

I hope you enjoy it. Try your best not to team kill too much lol. Also the archer is legit. I was playing her wrong at first not realizing her distant is unlimited but just limited to LoS.

Currently I think the paladin is my favorite character but definitely need to spend more time with each.

Sounds good! I'll post mine tomorrow, too, or PM once we get an idea of who wants to play. I'm not very experienced with D&D, I've only played board games based on similar ruleset and theme. Shouldn't be too hard to get into, though.

I played it with one of my friends and we got to the last boss and lost. I have another friend that bought the game, but he had three other friends with him so we couldn’t join a game with both of my separate friends. I can imagine this game still being fun to play with ransoms as I’d imagine the people this game attracts most likely won’t be crappy people.

Same. I’ve never played D&D and always wanted to so this might be easy mode for the veterans. I will say that everyone I have met in game has said they absolutely love it. The community is off to a strong start with everyone being super chill.

I made it to the boss twice. Got wrecked the first time but beat her the second time. My team was super experienced and carried me telling me what adds to Aggro/kill first. I almost threw by placing my healing shrine on top of the stairs preventing anyone from getting down to attack the boss. For a turned based strategy game it sure had me on the edge of my seat.

In My last run before my headset died, the first floor was probably the hardest floor I’ve seen yet. Completely wrecked the whole team and I was playing with the same guys who I beat the boss with.

This article confirms it will be cross buy once the rift version comes out. I’ll probably end up mostly playing the rift version because I was playing on my couch with a 16 foot usb cable plugged in from my computer once my power got too low. This game is primarily a seated experience anyway so it will be perfect for link on my couch and airlink if I want to be ultra lazy in my bedroom where I’m not that far from the router and get about 300 mbit connection on the 5ghz wifi through an iPerf 3 test I run in my host pc.

I use a separate router that isn’t connected to the internet for Airlink.

I have a Tp Link Ac1200 connected to my laptop by Ethernet, with 2.4ghz turned off, and the oculus connected to its wi fi signal.

This means I can have it all upstairs where I game, and I don’t have to move my main internet router. It’s pretty much flawless in terms of the link... much better than wired to be honest.

I have a cooling pad for my laptop, and it does keep temps lower during gaming.

So your laptop is connected to 2 routers and you just switch the connection in Windows when you want to use Airlink?

Don’t even have to do that. I’m connected via WiFi to my main router downstairs, with the secondary router just for Air Link connected via Ethernet. No switching necessary.

I think the rift version is out? I've seen it on the steam store I'm sure.

On the fence regarding getting it. It looks cool but sometimes I'm not really in the mood for socialising.

Edit - separate question. Is Swarm any good? I'm really close to pulling the trigger on it today and was hoping for some options. It looks great but worried it might get old quickly.

Swarm is fantastic and I highly recommend it. Best arcade style game out on quest currently. They really nailed the gameplay and there is a decent amount of depth to the combo multipliers you can pull off. Weapons feel great and of course slinging around like Spiderman makes you feel unstoppable.

Ok thanks! I did actually get it anyway and have played a few levels. The mechanics feel kinda tough. It's more difficult to control than I expected but that's not a bad thing.

It does feel quite deep in terms of skill ceiling (deep and ceiling? Not sure I've got that right lol) which I like, and it's all presented nicely. None of the cheap vr jank you can get.

Pretty pleased so far, I'll see if it grabs me longer term.

Yeah it takes a bit to get the hang of it but once you do it feels unlike anything else. Let me know if you make it to the level 3 boss. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Demeos is the best game I've played on Quest, holy shit it's fun, and a great social game too. I've never played D&D before but the tutorial was slick and was really easy to get into a game with others and start playing. Don't sleep on this game.

I'm playing it on normal difficulty and man is it tough. I'm stuck on the first boss and it's pissing me off. I might have tried it over ten times and it just won't die. Not sure if I'm enjoying it as I'm honestly just annoyed.

Is missing NVENC a big deal?

hmmm....Honestly that seems normal. I got frustrated as well and a few time throughout the game and I almost lowered the difficulty. In the end the challenge it was worth it because of how it felt to beat the bosses/level finally. Here is my breakdown.
Boss 1 was super hard and took me tons of times to beat. I almost lowered the difficulty but never did.
Boss 2 was easier than 1 but still took a lot of attempts.
Boss 3 was by far the hardest and it felt like I was playing a Dark Souls game. I cannot count how many times I died. I had to come back to the game several times but the fight itself was incredible.
Boss 4 was easiest but still took a couple of try.
Boss 5 I am one stage away and need to go back to complete the game

I have already gotten my moneys worth and replayed most the levels already. I cannot wait for expansions.

CloudNull CloudNull You gotta show me how to play this because I'm having a hard time even clearing the 1st floor in Single Player mode. I got the key once, but I couldn't make it to the door. Played about 1 1/2hrs so far and it's really engrossing.

Haha let’s do it. I’ve never even touched single player so I have no idea how it scales or if the hereos are controlled by ai.Do you control them all or are the others control by the computer?

Funny thing I played two runs today and couldn’t even get past the second floor. I think I got lucky by beating it already. I am pretty sure I got a super lucky boss spawn as well. She couldn’t really move a lot.

A couple tips I have.
- Don’t open any doors until the room you are in is cleared or unless there are only a few weak enemies left
- Learning the cards helps a lot. Some cards will show you were the key is and the exit so you can clear the floor faster.
-Poison urns/lamps are your friend. Poison slowly spreads for several rounds then eventually disappears. This can be used to damage everyone in tight areas. Apparently poison is flammable as well which can be paired with mage abilities.
-Also sometimes you just get screwed by rng. Some runs are much harder than others.
-you can leave the game and rejoin using the code on the side when online. Your exp will reset but sometimes it’s worth it to get the W. You rejoin with a fresh hand
- you can sell or destroy cards if they are not ones you want.

Im going to hang with the family for a few hours but I’ll be on later around 8 pst and we can do some runs if you are available.

Does Demeo have a decent solo mode? I'm not very social. My purchase will be based on this. Thanks!
I’ve never played solo so hopefully some one else can answer. Reviews say it is good and I know it is super challenging solo.

Had a great time playing Demeo with the GAF homeboys tonight. We had a good run and got wiped at the boss. Good learning experience and still a ton of fun. I think that was about a 1.5hr session.

We're a west coast US crew. If any GAF regulars would be interested in joining in sometime just let us know. This game kicks ass!

Yo man it was fun playing. It was hard for me to talk with you both because of an audio delay. Did some research and turns out it was because I was using AirPods with the quest. Apparently the blue tooth doesn’t play well. I switched to the wired headset and the delay went away.

Beat the boss again afterwards. I honestly think it’s damn near impossible with just 3 people. We got close though and bet we could pull it off if we all had stacked decks.

Did I hallucinate that support was coming on Quest 2 to see the keyboard if it was Bluetooth to sort of have a virtual desk?

Thanks man. That post actually really helped me to chill a bit. I guess I always get mad and assume I'm just way worse than everyone else but seeing that someone else had problems with that boss helped me out.

I'm now on level 3 and really enjoying it. If nothing else, the raw mechanics of this game are a total blast.

not quite my kind of game, but there's no denying Population One BR is really one of Quest's biggest games and it just received a complete new area in the map, which was already pretty huge:

dual revolvers is nice. Gliding feels out of character and the modern trains, but good stuff. Gliding is the way cover long distance easily, they should implement vehicles at some point, it was fun back in Honor and Duty D-Day...

This makes me happy to see. I cannot stop thinking about the game and I really hope they hit the added content hard. Some people on the subreddit are requesting the option to build their own campaigns.

If they add this feature then the game would have never ending content while waiting for the major chapters to drop. This would also help the flat gamers on PC pick up the game at a faster rate.

Same here. It's super addictive and fun, I think a lot in part due to the difficulty. When you finally get a solid run it feels great.

It's a killer app for VR. They just need to keep the new content rolling and I'll keep buying.

But is it any good in single player? Honestly it looks kinda boring, sort of like a sparse a fire emblem but with cards instead of an RPG system with weapons and stats. Or does it feel more like a rouge-like?

I can't always chat to people because of the noise and it would have to be randoms when I do probably. Also I'm not always in the mood to meet new people constantly. So, with that said, is there enough for a single player in unlocks, levels, achievements etc or is it just the basics?

The assassin is ridiculously powerful in Demeo. I played last night with a buddy of mine and we played two assassins and ended up beating the game. We stealthed around making sure to pick up as much gold as possible, and that allowed us to buy the best cards. We were in a rough spot in dungeon two with my buddy dead after being downed too many times, but I used coin flip on the key boss and won that coin flip. I was then able to stealth to the door, cleared the enemies out of there, and moved on to the final boss stage which revived my friend.

The mage/sorcerer feels pretty underwhelming; in parties with 3 or less people anyway. You use the zap card and then it feels like you end up skipping a bunch of turns because you don’t have anything useful to do if you don’t want to get in melee range and zap is on cool down. You’re probably better off taking a second assassin in a party of four.

Sneak for the Assassin, and Repair Armor for the Paladin make them essential characters. Archer is good for range, especially in combo with Decoy. I've played a decent amount of single player, and you can feel the impact if you end up with the Mage instead of the other 3. We'll see how it plays out as I learn more.

SP just consists of controlling 3 characters instead of being in a group of up to 4. It's fun, but if it's not winning you over the best thing you can do is just wait for it to drop in price. $30 seems steep if you don't intend to do much MP.

Yeah I agree the Rogue is the most OP. They do the most damage and it makes sense why they are aggroed by default. I bet a party of 4 assassins' could run through chapter 1 in no time, especially if they save all of their ballista cards. My most recent successful run I was rogue with 3 different ballista cards when I reached the boss. We cleaned up the floor super fast.

They need to buff the mage by giving him a better refresh card or an additional default card. The stun can come in clutch in certain scenarios but not often enough. I think the Paladin is a good spot and so is the archer.

$1400 for the full kit, so expensive. I feel like VR is heading into Facebook group, and the rest. Quest 2 will dominate these expensive sets, especially if they’re not ground breaking.

Lol wtf is htc doing.

Let's see

Quest 2 $300: snapdragon xr2, 64gb internal memory, internal battery for 2-3 hours. wireless link to pc, 3.6k resolution 120hz, LCD, 2 controllers

Vive pro $1400: 5k resolution and better FOV. 120hz, LCD, 2 controllers and 2 base stations. no SOC, no internal memory, no internal battery, and if you want wiereles you need to buy a $350 wireless kit.

I get facebook going from oled to lcd in quest 2 to hit 120hz and lower the price to $300 but htc? why would i pay 5 times the price for a display with with the same black levels. just for a sharper image and a slightly better fov? and you can supersample to 1.7 on quest 2 if your PC is powerful enough to really take advantage of the display and the image quality is great.

this is not even a contest.

In fairness they also announced a Quest competitor stand alone that does have an XR2 on board, wireless PC VR, and improved resolution and fov.

But it's $1300 lawl.

The damn wireless kit is more expensive than the Quest 2! And apparently limits to 90Hz.

It’s not even remotely competitive.

I feel like if Quest 3 implements half dome 3’s concept, cameras inside headset for creating avatars with your face expressions and eye tracking foveated, it would be such a big impact on the industry that it’ll kill off these competitors. Not something I want, but cmon, try to have a competitive product HTC.

yeah let's see what they do with the quest 3. the quest 2 is really an amazing product and today nothing can't touch it. i guess the only downside is that you have to use your facebook account.
