David Wise, god of game soundtracks, returns to the world of men (new samples inside)

Dem maracas?

Dem maracas, son. That and I just adore the mechanical, mysterious and almost eerie tone of it all.

And, holy crap at 6-2. Wise is back with a vengeance. I was afraid he might not live up to his past endeavors, but I'm left proven wrong and in musical ecstasy. Only Wise can make Donkey Kong feel like an emotional joyride.

The Rocketbarrel theme has been posted as well, likely taking place in the Cave area of DK Island. Soon we shall have the music for the Forest, Cliffs, Factory, and Final Boss levels.

I was on the fence whether I preferred this version or the original from DKCR for a while. I think hearing a clear rip's made me like this version more, but the original is great. Best track in DKCR.

Busted Bayou is still by far my favourite song in the game. Perfection

I haven't even unwrapped DKCR yet!

It seems like it would hard to go back after playing Tropical Freeze. You should try it. It opens up kind of standard and slow like most Nintendo stuff but it ramps up in difficulty so fast and demands you to master the move set quickly.

I hope TF doesn't spend too much time with the teachy stuff. I want to be screaming by the end of World 1.

In a Snow Bound Land remix? With actual DKC2 samples!? I think I've listened to enough tracks, got to save that for the game.

Well, I was kind of turned off by the 'waggle to roll' mechanic, so kind of forgot about it in the backlog.

....... Actually, come to think of it, I'd probably unwrap Metroid Prime Trilogy before I get to that, honestly.

...........

(don't kill me, Retro fans! At least I bought the games!)

Hey, if you get Tropical Freeze for the soundtrack, you'll discover the platforming is equally good, and then afterward you'll have a whole "level pack" to explore in Returns, so it all works out either way. :)

I'm pretty impressed by the quality and SIZE of this soundtrack.

Me too, you'd think a game like Tropical Freeze would be prone to re-using the same tracks for similar themed levels like Mario and the old DKC games did. And while I'm sure we do hear some tracks more than once, there's a very impressive number of varied and lengthy tracks. Wise certainly went all out with this soundtrack.

I think the Gamespot review was a hidden message for world 6 of this game ;)

Joking aside, Nintendo needs to have David Wise do the next Metroid game too! WOW O_O

Hmm... Does it seem like 6-7 was recorded in Mono (left ear only) for some reason, or did my headphones just go kaput?

Is the soundtrack available yet? I can't seem to find it on iTunes and Bandcamp.
Nope. It's Nintendo. They're back-asswards.

And don't point to the Pokémon soundtracks -- those smart merchandising moves can probably be attributed to the Pokémon Company.

Game rips. The game has a music test. You can even turn down (or turn off) sound effects if you want to listen while you play. :)

I don't have a Wii U, nor do I have a TV, so buying the game just to hear the soundtrack is going to be expensive, haha. Let's hope Nintendo decides to release a soundtrack as soon as possible.

I can dream, right?

Well, Nintendo did talk about David Wise while marketing this game in various venues, so perhaps they're aware he's a bullet-point and they'll release an album accordingly.
