Dear Sony, do you like Money? Then please make a WipEout VR

Looking at the recent titles being added into the PS VR portfolio like Rigs and GT Sport I've come to realize that VR may have potential in breaking into the consumer market.... On that note I game that would be rad for VR is WipEout. I mean it sells itself... Cockpit view racing with VR.... Accelerating speeds and lots of tracks.

Need I say more?

Want to more convincing? Here is the game running on a Oculus DK2

Who else think this is a no brainier.

I don't know if any Sony studio that has the SCEEL style. I'll keep playing HD Fury and continue to hope for a 60FPS 2048.

As much as I love WipEout and want a new game in a series, I think that I'd vomit everywhere if I'd play a WipEout VR game.

Hey Sony, do you like Money?

Well don't make this game that you've tried making on several occasions for an install base of millions for a VR headset with an install base of not millions.

I think Sony likes not losing money, and that's why we are not really seeing Wipeout anymore.
and good riddance

There are dozens of you! Dozens!

with cash in a wallets!

I can also see this making new WipEout fans

The reason there's no more Wipeout is because they do actually like money.

also I have faith in Sony in finding ways to address motion sickness

WipEout is fast I agree but smooth fps and pixel quality can help it

people fling around in Rigs and I can see good speed occurring for GT Sport

No offense but whenever I read something from a Wipeout or F-Zero fan all I can think of is

Is the vomit thing a joke or do people really think that they would feel ill? Driveclub is fucking fast and there were no problems with the VR demo. Racing games should be one of the easier genres to pull off in VR.

Makes sense right? They are ex Studio Liverpool devs and have helped Japan Studio with the Playroom and maybe they had a hand Playroom VR as well. Sony is know for making deals with ex devs of theirs. Too bad they are not confirmed for PSX

it would be perfect for them to do it
having more VR titles would be better for the platform

I've heard that the better VR experiences are ones that don't focus on speed of movement, apparently thats a one way ticket to barf town. Can anyone with first hand experience confirm this?

Not sure that wipeout is a good choice. Just give me a super hot this-gen version instead.

Actually no. Fast movement straight ahead is good, our brans are used to it. There are tons of arcade racing games [in vein on F-Zero and endless runners] that work great in VR.

Forced camera rotation and strafing are bad for brain in VR. [strafing in cockpit games is fine, because we can see in VR that we are sitting in cockpit and that the vehicle itself is doing the strafing]

I was waiting for the first "because it's not a relevant franchise in today's gaming market even though indie equivalents prove otherwise" post but this is close enough :)

Most directional movement starts to have a lot of negative effects on a lot of people I've witnessed demo the units. The worst one I've seen where almost every person had issues was the space flight game from the eve online guys. Trashcans were kept beside you at all times.

I don't know how I'd feel about a Wipeout game not done by Psygnosis :(

They should just port Wipeout HD to PS4 with the 2048 content as well

I really like Wipeout. If they made a new one though, I would want it to be without VR since it would probably end up being a bad Wipeout game with a gimmick attached to it.

I mean if the refresh rate is high enough and the head tracking is fine, then surely it shouldn't be any more vomit inducing than the regular versions.
At a certain point the problem is not insufficient FPS, but rather the disconnect between what the body percieves through different senses. Given that the aim of VR is to make it more immersive, it just makes it all the more jarring to the body's sensation that it's just staying still, even though the visual and auditory senses say otherwise.

I could be talking out of my ass though.

Maybe some people wanna pay to get motion sick and throw up? I mean it's not that different from a roller coaster. People love those.

Wipeout always came across to me as the poor man's F-Zero, and considering how Nintendo treats F-Zero. -_-

Disclaimer: I'd play the hell out of some F-Zero VR.
