Wait, is this like an honest to God musical where the characters actually sing and stuff? Or are critics who are calling it that full of shit. I'd LOVE to see this if this were a legit musical.
I don't think there's singing. I think a lot of it syncs up to the soundtrack. Just a guess though.

I can't wait for this, Wright is one of my favorites, and Scott Pilgrim is up there with the greats for me.

Ah, I see. It's "musical", but not a musical. Then the critic who compared it to La La Land is totally full of shit. Still gonna see this though.

I feel like I'm broken. I absolutely adore Edgar Wright but that trailer didn't do much for me :(
Chill out, dude heh. You have your opinion, you stick by it. I loved the international trailer, but that's me. Edgar Wright films are way better than the trailers (unlike some other directors...), but even if you don't like the movie in the end, if you can defend your points then you'll do fine. There are lots of people who don't like World's End or Hot Fuzz, and that's fine.
Watched the international trailer and that was waaaaay better. Domestic trailer sucked.
Oh cool, well there you go! Hehe

One problem this trailer has, is selling the movie for what it is. Because so many movies that *aren't* like this have trailers like it.

Press coverage will handle that though, I'd expect, looked at the SXSW impressions.

I thought the trailer was bad. No real rhythm to it and you get glimpses of some ideas that seem too strange at first glance. None of it feels like it fits together to sell you on a movie.

Basically, it's fucking weird but that's what Edgar Wright movies tend to be and I love him for it. I'll be there to check it day 1 just because I've never been burned by anything he's made. The impressions sound ace as well so i'm super interested in this already.

Even though I like Edgar, I too think the trailer is bad. If it's supposed have music as one its stars, so to be speak, they surely didn't let people hear those songs. Stupid decision. Now it looked like a bad version of Fast & Furious. It was too long and lacked action.

Like every Edgar Wright movie the internet will love it and no one will go see it.

-EDIT-
Now Ive seen both trailers...Wright really is the British Robert Rodriguez. Makes movies for one audience..16 year old boys.

Smh at some of the Drive hate on the last page. I can see this looking more like what people expected out of Drive based on the trailers but Ansel ain't got shit on papi Gosling and I say that as someone who thinks the movie is gonna be good after seeing the int trailer.

Huh, I don't see that demographic connection. The only connection I see is they're both genre filmmakers. But RR is more in the shlock lane, while Wright changes lanes all the time. From Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim, World's End, and now this. Quite a lot of variety. They're not even comparable in quality.

Every single one of those movies/show you mentioned would have been my favorite movies/show if is this was 1993 and I was still in high school.

it's funny, weren't you just in a terrence malick thread saying how you had to be up your own arse to like his films? cos between your comments in that thread and your comments in here you're certainly coming off as pretty condescending.

Make a Sergio Leone, Michael Mann or Spike Lee thread and things will go that other way.

What in the world.

You haven't even seen the movie to know whether or not the comparison is valid or not.

And you're going to see it anyway.

Which trailer did you watch? I didn't like the American one but the international one was pretty damn good. You get a much better sense of the tone of the film, which is darker than I expected. Didn't expect everyone but the kid to be a bad guy.

I wish I was younger so I could accept the main protagonist as something more then an annoying teenager.
Staying with John Wick for my old man action flair.

Yes.

You have not seen Baby Driver yet, but you know more about Baby Driver than a critic who has seen Baby Driver.

That totally makes sense.

Yeah, I also hated Terminator 2.

Imagine The Driver or Bullitt if they were set in Atlanta, propelled by a soundtrack, and directed by one of the most visually distinctive working directors.

That's Baby Driver and it looks brilliant.

Oh ok, so he just likes to incite. Will ignore him from now on lol.

See i WAS a bit younger then and thought HE WAS THE COOLEST.
It's that thing were at first you emphasize with Bart and later move on to being on Homer's side.

Hope this is a success, love Wright's work, still going to watch it.
But I just jumped over that threshold were YA novel heroes like this feel weird in "my" action film.

Yeah, Jeff is...

...He likes for people to notice he's doing things, I guess.

I mean, just because he was in The Fault in Our Stars doesn't mean he's not an actor. I'm betting he'll be good.

...or maybe it's a Michael Cera-esque misfire in the lead casting again. I dunno. Even with Cera not being a very good Scott, he didn't fuck up the movie.

I doubt you would understand a fraction of what's going on in terms of cinematography, directing, film making and writing in every single one of those movies/show as a high schooler.
In fact, you suggesting that means you still don't.

See I was totally fine with Cera. Opinions opinions.
I still have no clue why a boring charisma lacking actor like Charlie Hunnam gets work but there must be folks here who like him.

Now a REAL baby driver (crossover with Dreamworks BABY BOSS), that would have been something!
