Nintendo Direct September 13th for Switch and 3DS

Man Bethesda is going all in on Switch.

I kind of thought Skyrim was going to like a one off or something, but they're showing they are willing to offer some fairly impressive support. All of it late, all of it unexpected.

Good Direct with good news, but not something you had to be there live for. Recommend watching all the trailers/news on Youtube for stuff you may be interested in, but you don't need the whole thing.

Mario Odyssey being one more thing'd bugged me, that should be saved for surprises! Not stuff you told us would be talked about beforehand.

Need to pre-order Xeno2 now, I guess. Hope the SE goes up soonish.

Seriously, Odyssey is shaping up to be everything I wanted - basically "Super Mario 64 2", or a true spiritual successor. We went years without anything coming close to that, and for a while it seemed like Nintendo was going in the opposite direction.

And then we get this game. The beauty, style, innovation, and amount of content...it just looks insane, and every time I see more of it I somehow get even more excited.

Switch stuff was underwhelming outside of Mario and Octopath but goddamn are those two titles looking magnificent. Snipperclips update and phantasy star are very welcome though.

Not much of note on 3ds either but a new style savvy, a western release for alliance alive, and a release date for Layton isnt too bad.

Anything else of note on the Japanese steam?

Decent direct in general, but I really hoped for one megaton announcement.

I'm still amazed that the Switch is getting Wolfenstein, but not Okami HD.

Up there with the most disappointing presentations I've ever wasted my time on. A bit melodramatic I know, but I just recently got a Switch. The hell am I supposed to do with this thing besides Zelda?

Maybe you should have waited if nothing else interested you from the games already released.

Mario doesn't even seem real. It's like some ultimate collective fanboy fantasy come to life, evolved, and perfected.

Shook indeed

This Direct seemed to solidify that Switch will not be getting a Smash Bros port but rather will most likely be getting the sequel to the WiiU/3DS versions.

If a port was coming it would have already been announced. My guess is that they have already begun working on the next Smash for holiday 2018

At this point the over hyping and concern trolling that comes with every direct is just kinda sad.

Good Direct. Mario just looks utterly jaw dropping, nice suprise with Doom & Wolfenstein and finally time to start getting hyped for Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Between the nindies and this, Nintendo have done a good job getting set up for a strong holiday season.

I'd like more 2018 stuff but that was solid.

Doom/Wolfenstein II is a nice surprise.

Odyssey looks great. XB2 looks interesting even if they spent too much time trying to explain the gameplay systems.

Will download the Octopath demo

That was okay. I'm not like really disappointed or anything but I would have expected a single fairly big new first-party game and that just wasn't there. That being said Nintendo announced enough during the first half of the year for me to be content for now.

Project Octopath looks amazing though, the 3DS Mario Party game looks surprisingly cool, and Kirby/Mario Odyssey/Xenoblade Chronicles 2 look good if not mindblowing imo.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Great to hear DOOM and Wolfenstein 2 are coming to Switch.

Wonder if they thought about porting Arkabe's recent stuff like Dishonored 2, Death of tje Outsider and Prey. Guess they're more niche compared to DOOM and Wolfenstein 2.

one big game announcement

Yep. Something like this would've been nice.

I wasn't fully expecting one or anything considering Nintendo's description of what the Direct would focus on, but I guess I got a bit overhyped by the fact that it was going to be 45 minutes. Figured there very likely could be a big juicy surprise/reveal in there.

Someone questioned whether or not I liked Nintendo games earlier. I certainly do. I just don't like Splatoon or Arms, and I've played MK8 to my heart's content on Wii U. I'd just like to hear more about new big time games outside of Odyssey, which does look awesome.

I just really wish they would come out and say what they are doing with Smash. New game, port with or without additions, remake, Melee HD, whatever. I play Smash 4 daily still, I would just like to know when I can unplug my Wii U.

Otherwise good direct.

I'd give it a 7/10. Could have trimmed some Xenoblade fat, bit of concern about the lack of any media or online app news, but it was a fun time nonetheless. DOOM and Wolfestein 2 are the biggest megatons for me; I thought at the very most we'd be getting DOOM and Wolfenstein 1 maybe but not those two. I'll be double dipping on both if they're not terrible ports.

What a great direct! XBC2 stuff was a great explanation, and a great date for me, Skyrim fits neatly in between SMO and XBC2 too! Octopath Traveler looks good, can't wait to try out the demo tomorrow. SMO was... yeah, it's time for October 27th to come.

Legit surprised to see both Doom and Wolfenstein II come to Switch, really interested to see how well they stack up to the XB1/PS4 versions! Dragon Quest Builders seems like a great fit for Switch. That Tencent game (lol sorry) should be a really big deal too, big get for Switch. Still no Platinum :(

All in all great direct. The only thing lacking is first party content, strangely enough. Still only one first party title for H1 2018 confirmed, the Kirby game. Is there another moment to expect them to lay out first party for 2018? Maybe a January direct?

-No updates at all about the system itself or OS
-No VC
-No new game announcements (don't @ me - ports of old stuff or pseudo-indies aren't new games ^_^)
-Boring as hell Xenoblade block
-No Platinum (even though I don't particularly care about it)
-No Smash

Dissapointed about that Kirby multiplayer 3DS game... thought it would be something like Four Swords/Triforce Heroes.

Dillon Rolling Western 3.

Worst part of the Direct for me is no Mario Party Switch. That game has always been about local multiplayer on the same TV for me, get it working with joycons and it would have been perfect.

Mario looks amazing though.

Wait people were disappointed? Just what were you expecting?

They were expect 5 new unnannounced 1st party games

Nintendo was not going to announce a bunch of huge games right before their Fall line up comes out, we go through this every year with people in the Sept Direct lol

I feel like they could have announced one "big new game announcement" and some of y'all still would have complained that it wasn't the one you wanted.

Good thing I didn't fall for the hype like some of the people here.
I'm mainly impressed by the amount of western 3rd party support here. Doom and Wolfenstein 2 are mindblowing.
Only thing I REALLY didn't like was the amount of time dedicated towards Xenoblade 2. The new mechanics are cool, and I'm genuinely interested in the new lore, but ffs don't put the tutorial in the trailer. Also, the more they reveal about the game, the worse the game looks. Sooooo many clashing artstyles. It looks like they just got some doujin artist to design the main protags and nobody else. The townsfolk and more mature characters have normal proportions and more grounded shading.
