I never bothered with Halo. Should I be excited for this?

Ok well, this has my attention. Goddamn, haha.

You're interested in a FPS with social and other activities? Or something like that.
Wait for the tomorrow's reveal... hard to be truly excited for something you don't know about at all.

Ew, not necessarily. But who knows, I dig MMOs and I was excited for Project Offset at some point. Fair point though.

Probably not a MMO, due to this coming to current-gen consoles, remember that. Too many limitations.

My mind is blown.

Of course.
And I will defiantly be enjoying tomorrow. Hype train at full blast.

That's incredibly interesting.

The Traveler is a fucking MOON of Saturn?

I hope one of the characters says "That's no space space station...".

Dude, no wonder they're doing this tomorrow.

Mind blown.

Can't read all that now. Can someone give me a quick summary?

Highly recommend watching the linked TED talk. Titan and Enceladus are quite interesting indeed: http://www.ted.com/talks/carolyn_porco_flies_us_to_saturn.html

Basically Enceladus is the 7th discovered moon of Saturn. And looks almost the same size as "The Traveler" show in these images. Cassini is orbiting around Saturn and is scheduled to pass over Enceladus tomorrow, the 17th. The reason why Enceladus is interesting to us is that it has a tiger-like stripe in it's Southern region that astronomers believe is laced with organic material.

The whole Southern region of the moon is the hottest region, and the tiger stripes are supposedly "spewing" out icy-organic particles out thousands of miles into space from the core. You can see the jets here:

Certainly looks like a ship. And kinda fits in with the terraforming theme that the ARG has been prancing around. Also, it wouldn't be the first time Bungie has made a moon a ship. The UESC Marathon from their previous game series was converted from Deimos, one of Mars' moons.

What the fuck? If that was true, surely someone would've saved it and spread it around by now.

I did and they threatened to sue me. I can prove what I saw after the official unveiling when it doesn't matter anymore. I'm not claiming its all they will show tomorrow. I have no I inside info

If it was posted publicly Im not sure what grounds they can sue you with.. but the whole thing seems a little weird.

Yup I'm going with Traveler=Enceladus. Bungie saw that picture (in 2007 when they were wrapping up Halo 3) of it above the Earth to compare its size to England, and went "Oh shit imagine that for real, this is our next game".

The cracks along the bottom of the planetoid on the cover art match up with where the plumes of vapor supposedly erupt into space from its south pole.

EDIT: Well, Greencastle's post lays this out perfectly.

I don't even think the largest PC elitist out there can deny that Halo may have rivaled Counter Strike if it was on the PC.

Tribes 2 came out the same year as Halo 1.
Deus Ex came out the year before.
Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, System Shock 2 and Counter Strike two years before.
Half Life three years before.

Wait a minute...everything I have studied now leads me to believe that The Traveler ship is actually a hollowed out moon retrofitted into a ship. As we all know, what other ship in the Bungie universe is just that? Marathon.

Is everyone in gaming about to shit a house. Don't connect it like this, Bungie. My heart can't take i--hnnnnghhhh.

That's kind of creepy.

I must be watching too many LunaCognita videos.

Awesome nonetheless.

For those that aren't aware, I bolded the tiger part on the strike marks on Enceladus because Bungie's internal codename for Destiny is Tiger.

Do you think we'll get to play as the Alien factions? Assuming their is one going by the IGN video on the stream link.

ViDoc? Sounds godlike

but will set expectations low so I can be blown away. Will be concept art, vague hype/promises, and assorted lore/ARG shit nobody cares about

Every ViDoc Bungie has put out, unless I am misremembering, has contained plenty of in-game footage.

But yeah, keeping expectations as low as possible is the smartest thing to do nowadays.

After Reach, Bungie expectations at all-time low regardless

Hope they can redeem themselves from that damn game

Simply because of that, I just can't take their "competitive modes" seriously when talking about Destiny. They said the same exact thing for Reach. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. Hoping for the best.

Okay, reading the theory about the giant orb hovering above Earth actually being the moon of Saturn has me very excited. Call me selfish, but I REALLY like it when sci-fi includes characteristics that are unique to our solar system and planet. When it turned out that the portal to the Ark in Halo 3/ODST was on Earth the whole time I was excited. I am very eagen to finally see what Bungie has been secretly working on these past 3+ years.

It's nice because its a type of fantasy you can apply to reality.
