PokéBOMB XIII: UK trailer up -> starter evolutions, Mega Garchomp and more

Quilladin is super-adorable, and the level of customization looks great. I'm so happy that I can finally make my character look like the daftest punk who ever lived.

Japanese Pokémon: The Origin page is up! And not sure if mentioned in another thread, but the special is less of a special and more like a full length movie. It takes the 19:00 - 20:49 slot of TV Tokyo -- ads outside, that means a good 90 minutes feature.

Also, from the Japanese XY website, in the Kanto starters' page:

Bottom ones are new shots from Origin. Art looks brilliant! Is it hand-drawn?!

Honestly, Braixen looks pretty cute in a "none creepy" way. When I get Fennekin, I'm going to soft reset until it's female, like I did with Chikorita.

I'm definitely warming up to Mega Garchomp.

Dear lord, that new ability seems OP. Tyrunt and Amaura will probably end up be physical and special sweepers, respectively, with abysmal speed.

Amaura has the worst typing in the game, so not, it most definitely will not be OP. Even Magcargo has a better typing.

Am I the only one that kinda digs female Pyroar? The ponytail makes her look much sleeker.

Furfrou on the other hand just cracks me up. I can't say the name out loud without laughing.

Wha? Fennekin eats branches? How come this is the first time i've heard of that aspect about it? Also, are we sure it's not branch vixen what with tree branches being an important point of the Pokemon apparently?

This was to balance out the fact that it is also resistant to fairy and is super effective against fairy.

Is that really a huge boon? It's a defensive typing that lost 2 resistances (screwing over a number of steel types) in exchange for an SE of questionable value.

Woah the level of trainer customization is way better than I expected (unless the screenshots turn out to be all of it).

So tempted to get X and Y together at launch now for some reason.

Unless its really easy to get the exclusive pokemon online like it was with Black/White

Wow. I'm gonna have fun getting a furflou. Gotta unlock all those different styles for it.

#teamfroakie since the beggining for me. o: I hope his last evo is a ninja, gets me thinking of Dororo from Sergeant frog. :p

Smartphone Global Link and instant profile updates (ie your appearance on your card changing when you change it) is amazing. I can't handle it anymore guys.

Looks more like a Special Sweeper.

It does, which is kind of a waste of Refrigerate, since all the good normal attacks are physical. Ice hyper beam sounds cool, until you get slaughtered by a steel/fighting attack on the recharge turn. On the other hand.... ice extreme speed, trash, fake out, double-edge, mega kick, facade....

Mega Garchomp.

Greatly improved Attack
Greatly improved Sp. Attack
Mildly reduce Speed.

Mmm, does Garchomp even has viably special attacks?

Oh shit needs its own thread!

You can just stick to one game since Bank let's you store your old Pokemon and withdraw them into a new file.

I don't think so. That speed drop is going to ensure that standard Garchomp is preferred. Even a huge attack boost isn't worth it if you're <100 base speed.

Curious. How would people react if Mega Charizard appeared in Pokemon the Origin? :p
I kinda think it's gonna happen.

Can't decide between Fennekin and Froakie.

Probs Fennekin because fire moves look better and my water starters always just end up being my surf bitches.

Steel was too strong anyway. At least it got some buffs along with it nerfs. Ice just lost its exclusivity as a dragon slaying type despite being one of the worst types.

You can MegaVolve and use a move in the same turn, though. So if you switch in Garchomp, the first turn, when you MegaVolve and use Dragon Dance, you're operating off Garchomp's base speed, and by the time the turn is over and you have to use MegaChomp's base speed, you have a Dragon Dance anyway.

Yeah, so transferring is easier. But I meant how I could easily get say the legendary from say Black on White as I saw it so it was in my Pokedex and could easily get it via the online trading system.

Just basically meant I didn't need to buy Black for the exclusive Pokemon.

I really disagree with this point and find it damn near baseless. Scizor and Ferrothorn are great, so that means the entire type has to suffer? Same goes for Fighting. It was already perfectly balanced with 3 types resisting (2 of which SE it) and another that was completely immune.

IMO this is a really botched balancing job, and GF will be forced to nuke Fairy in the future. All because they didn't want to gimp dragons too badly.
