This doesn't prevent grass Pokemon being put to sleep; just prevents them being affected by Spore / Sleep Powder. In singles, the only frequently used Pokemon which uses Spore is Breloom, and the only one to use Sleep Powder is Venusaur (and it's fairly generous to say Venusaur is used frequently). Neither of these Pokemon are such gigantic threats that people will start using more grass Pokemon in order to deal with them (particularly as most grass Pokemon wouldn't deal with them particularly effectively anyway). For singles play, it's not really much of a big deal at all.

At others have pointed out, it's more important for doubles, but I don't play doubles so w/e.

Breloom not being able to put Ferrothorn to sleep and Focus Punch is a pretty big deal. By the way, Breloom is #10 and Venusaur is #35 on the Smogon usage list in August.

I'm still really liking the designs for Generation 6 in general.

That is creepy. Did its pupils move to its ears?

I gotta have these two.

Might as well've taken my time with it, so here ya go.

So what is braixen the portmanteau of?

Vixen + ???

Well the chespin line is a paladin/knight style design, froakie line is ninjas and fennekin is some kind of mage so I'd imagine it had something to do with that.

Either that or just some word that means fire that starts with a bra.

Wow, Frogadier looks awesome in the official art and in motion. Hell, even his name is cool.

Tyrunt is such a fitting name for a baby T-Rex pokemon, it just puts a smile on my face.

I'm calling it now though: Diantha is the Kalos regional champion. She just has the Cynthia look to her.

Wow, we really are getting a Water/Fighting ninja out of this.

Does the Pokemon Company has no idea how to do a trailer? The music is grating.

Very informative, Mega Garchomp looks great, as do the styles of your main character. Chespin Evolution looks even fatter, uglier and dumber.

The balancing changes are great. When they say Poison types nullify Poison Spikes, does that mean that they are removed after switching in a Poison type?

If so, please do the same with Stealth Rock. It needs nerfing badly and should never have existed.

Quilladin's 3D model is much better than the artwork. Still the worst of the starters though, with Braixen winning by a country mile. #TeamFennekin

Also think I'm gonna go with the female trainer after seeing some of the customization options. Looking forward to being as fabulous as Braixen.

Type immunity changes are interesting. Gonna laugh so hard if there's a roaming Ghost-type legendary who flees at the earliest opportunity. Wonder if it extends to stuff like Shadow Tag, too?

You shouldn't downplay its importance just because it doesn't directly effect you.

To be honest, I'm not even convinced it'll be that useful in doubles. This is pure theorymon, but in the current VGC meta, the only frequently used Pokemon that use Spore or Sleep Powder are Breloom and Amoonguss. Why would you use a grass-type Pokemon to counter either of them? I mean sure, you can switch it in on a Spore safely, but what are you going to do once you're in? Especially Amoonguss, which is fairly tanky and can take a few hits, if you just switch in a grass-type, why would the Amoonguss user care? If they're running the traditional doubles set of Spore/Rage Powder/Giga Drain/Protect, they'll just continue to use Rage Powder, content in the knowledge that you're probably not going to be hitting Amoonguss particularly hard (only Exeggutor, Abomasnow get SE STAB on Amoonguss out of the viable grass types present in VGC), while Amoonguss' partner continues to do whatever it was doing. If they run Sludge Bomb, then Amoonguss has the edge on most grass-types anyway. I simply don't see this doing anything revolutionary for grass-types at all. Nobody ever really thought "damn, Abomasnow would be the perfect Amoonguss counter if it wasn't for the presence of that pesky Spore".

EDIT: Yeah, this is basically a response to the post below as well. I'm not saying this is a bad change or anything, I appreciate any attempts to help Grass given it's such a poor typing, but I just can't see this doing anything.

At others have pointed out, it's more important for doubles, but I don't play doubles so w/e.

But Spore & Sleep Powder are the most accurate and frequently used ones. Apart from lovely kiss & dark void (which only Jinx & Darkrai have anyway), there's hypnosis and sing at 60% / 55%, compared to spore and sleep powder at 100% / 75%. And yeah, sleep might not be as prevalent in singles, but that's because it's held back by sleep clause. I agree that this won't probably cause people to use grass pokés to deal with these moves specifically, but it's a pretty significant boon none the less.

besides OU isn't the only tier people play in ya know ;)

also grass is my favorite type so sorry if I'm coming off assholish, lol

I love the Warrior/Mage/Thief theme they're going for with the starters. I really want to see what types these final forms end up being.

I'm thinking...
Grass/Fighting-Ground-Rock
Fire/Psychic
Water/Dark-Flying-Fighting

Those are my guesses.

Also, lol at Ice-types being immune to Freeze. You could barely Freeze them before, you had to use Tri-Attack or one of the status-shifting moves/abilities.

What they didn't tell us is that ice Pokemon using ice attacks that freeze now have 50% of freezing their opponents.... :'(

Those are my guesses based on that old rumors

Grass/Steel
Fire/Fairy
Water/Fighting

And those are the types I'd like them to have

Both Pyroars would be great if it weren't for those manes. The male one was bad enough, but female Pyroar? I mean, damn...
