Damn it I'll have to miss game 1; and what the hell is with this 945 EST start time for Game 3.

Assuming they'll be a playoff thread going up shortly?

Livingskeletons

If I pulled that off, would you die?
Weird/crap season for the Kings.

Sutter is probably gone.

Hope Caps win the cup finally, and Sharks/Ducks lose in the first round respectively.

Central teams always get the shaft with start times in the playoffs. Every other game starts at 7/7:30 local time. Central is always like 8:30. Plus it never starts on time. Its fuckin dumb.

Not really an unpopular opinion when the ratings for hockey in the US suck. So it's just more games for people to not watch.

I mean hockey in June is nonsense. it's blasphemy to think of getting rid of that great game 7 magic... but what is that magic except one game to decide it all? March Madness is madness because it's one game, obviously the NFL is an entirely different beast having one game, etc etc. MLB wildcard games, etc.. People can't help but love knowing one game is going to decide who moves on.

But the Stanley Cup is the greatest trophy in sports, and should remain hard as hell to win.

Yes lower the games cause I'm sure the loss of revenue on those home playoff games are what owners want.

Actually shocked you weren't able to figure out a way to get something about golf in there.

Obvious answer is obvious. Marvie pointed out that it's money. Of course it's money. I'm sure owners would have the regular season be 100 games and have the playoff series be longer if it means more money for them.

My point is, as a fan who doesn't care about the owners pockets, it's simply fun to discuss something that makes the game more exciting for nonhockey fans. You know, growing the game.

Talk about growing the game.. How much does Joe average care to watch a 7 game series if their team isn't in it? Weren't the playoff ratings terrible last year in Canada?

Ah well.

Golf.

For Meta:

Montreal - 103 points
NYR - 102 points

It took until the last day of the season lol, but Montreal finally "earned" home ice.

He is mad because more games means less time to golf. :p

Why would they care about someone like that as opposed to someone like me who is going to watch every game as opposed to someone that might watch one game? If joe average cant be bothered to watch a 7 game series when his team isnt in it, who says he's going to watch a 1 game series when his team isnt in it? This whole "growing the game" myth needs to go away. The NHL just isnt going to work in every market and with every sports fan.

Don't worry, making goalie pads marginally thinner will fix things right up.

No need to be that defensive about it. Just thought it was worth pointing out as Hedman has routinely been overlooked as one of the elite defensemen in the league, and it was a pretty impressive feat given how good Karlsson is.

Don't tell me what not to get defensive about 😡😡
