I agree that Trump is wrong about wanting to racially profile a group of people. This doesn't change the reality that Israel, according to the USA article, has decreased terrorism in Israel due to their strategies.

not every American is so eager to shit on their own civil rights

It has been said a thousand times, because the shit isn't going to do anything to them at all.

pretty much. it's all "read the constitution!" until they want to feel safe from brown people.

then it's like fuck it! we need to "take steps" to restore "law and order!"

Not at first it won't.

But if you piss off the government you might found to be a muslim or at least a supporter of muslims and find yourself in the same camp.

It is impossible to respect Trump supporters and on the whole they are more dangerous to this country than any terrorist attack.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I still firmly believe that no matter what this man says, congress wont pass any of it unless its already part of the republican doctrine. The republicans will be looking for reelection and I assume theyll need more than the core base to reach that.
On top of that, I figure Trump will have a decentralized government similar to Trudeau where as its more or less his cabinet getting things done and he takes the role of a (albeit shitty and orange) figurehead.

These are two scenarios I'd hope for if I was american.

Next up, internment camps.

How can Trump supporters be so fucking stupid? Haven't we learned anything from history?

They're not stupid, they just lack empathy and the ability to care about anybody but themselves and theirs.

They really don't care if minorities are inconvenienced. In fact, if it could just be all White people in America, you know, the people they can trust, well that would be fine by them. But it can't, so put them under the microscope.

Some have learned from History, but there is some group that either dont care about knowing History, and never draw parallels between them and Historical events, Or worst they know exactly History and thats what they want, "Make America great Again" can have different meaning to different people.

I'll just profile your supporters Trump. You know the ones. No education, gun hoarder, 0 respect to women. I'm more scared of these people than I am of ISIS.

So am I. The kind of people I see at Trump rallies, cheering on hate, those are the people I wouldn't want my kids near.

Why you trying to ruin my holiday plans trump. Looking at the percentage of people voting for trump makes a good portion of USA potentially sharing this view. Good luck to the American Muslims, it's going to be rough.

Even if he loses, I shudder to think of Trump sticking around and people following his opinions.

If anyone's a "cancer from within", it's this guy and his hateful views spreading and attracting supporters.

Mark it down. He is going to start a new network like Fox News, I mean look at who he hired Bannon and Ailes. Coincidence? I think not.

There are certainly people who know exactly where this kind of rhetoric leads and actively want that, but I would think the majority follow the painfully simple ideology of "Things will be different this time because we're America!" and choose to ignore the obvious, because it surely won't happen to them. Years of fearmongering and othering have led to their natural conclusion - a fear-stricken group of people ready to actively throw away any sort of morality or rights for the promise of safety, which is straight from the fascist handbook. And the worst part is that this is a democratic nation where half of the population is actively trying to put a fascist in power. If that isn't a failure of democracy, then its democracy's natural endpoint. Even Socrates said that more then anything else, fascism is born from democracy.

It infuriates me every time I hear Trump claim that refugees get in with "no vetting" or whatever new phrasing he comes up with. It's not true. Our "vetting" is arguably too stringent. My friend's father, an 80-year-old Navy veteran, re-married while visiting the Phillipines, and it took over a year, with constant help from his daughter on this end, for this longtime US citizen to get permission for his 80-year-old new wife to come to the States.

A year. To get approval for an 80-year-old Filipino woman married to a citizen to emigrate.

But yeah, we really need to crack down on people who've already been through this process, and for whom it probably took twice as long. Because it wasn't miserable enough the first time.

Pence is almost as scary.

I'm not sure if a literal fascist being close to voted into power is a failure of democracy or its natural conclusion.

I used to disagree with "history repeats itself" but nah this is as blatant as it gets
I tend to think of it as a perversion of democracy, but looking back on the early 20th century would suggest otherwise.

Consider the positions of those who were for internment camps versus those who were put into internment camps and draw the logical conclusions. Trump supporters didn't have to learn because people like them weren't the ones who were put into internment camps.

“This is cancer from within. This is something that’s going to be so tough. They stay together. They’re plotting.”

This is exactly what Hitler said about the Jews. Exactly. If Hitler was a blowhard buffoon. I know people usually get shit for comparing anybody to Hitler, but this is incontestable.

Adolf fuckin Hitler said:
For us, this is not a problem you can turn a blind eye to-one to be solved by small concessions. For us, it is a problem of whether our nation can ever recover its health, whether the Jewish spirit can ever really be eradicated. Don't be misled into thinking you can fight a disease without killing the carrier, without destroying the bacillus. Don't think you can fight racial tuberculosis without taking care to rid the nation of the carrier of that racial tuberculosis. This Jewish contamination will not subside, this poisoning of the nation will not end, until the carrier himself, the Jew, has been banished from our midst.

He keeps a book on Hitler speeches by his bedside. His ex wife said so. He has some sort of weird admiration for the guy.

No Donald that is not how you talk about a complex messy situation. Especially not as a potential presidential candidate. You should not be a presedential candidate, let alone a President.

I hate this man, so much.

Like I've said before, if there's a Heaven, Trump would be the reason why I wouldn't be allowed in. I hate him with the passion of a thousand suns. That energy should be directed to something more productive, but I can't help but seethe at him. Just looking at pictures of his smug, ignorant, racist, misogynistic piece of shit face makes me incredibly angry. I think evil thoughts about this man, and I'm not even apologetic about it.

I can't wait for this embarrassing election cycle to be over with, so he can slink back into his troll cave with his tail tucked between his legs.

Fuck. Even Anne Frank's stepsiste, Eva Schloss, compared Trump's behavior to his much earlier this year:
"If Donald Trump become(s) the next president of the U.S. it would be a complete disaster," she told Newsweek on Wednesday. "I think he is acting like another Hitler by inciting racism."

“This is cancer from within. This is something that’s going to be so tough. They stay together. They’re plotting.”

The dog whistle becomes more and more of a blaring siren.

One thing that heartens me is that this kind of nakedly anti-Muslim rhetoric seems like it only resonates with his hardcore base and is anathema to anyone else.
