The funniest thing about Brock going over on Taker are the countless comments in the lead up to the match saying the build made no sense since obviously Brock wouldn't win. "Why are they making the Undertaker look so strong?" was a mantra repeated over and over after the contract signing segment.

Folks were lamenting that this match would do nothing for Brock... then he shocks us all and wins, and people shift to saying it's a waste. Why let a part-timer break the streak when they could have given it to Punk last year (i.e. part-timer < no-timer? Yeah, that makes sense).

Legit shook indeed.

So true.

'What's the point of this match, we already know Taker is going to win! what a waste of time'

Lesnar wins.

'WTF, what's the point of Lesnar winning this match?!'

As others have said, it is not. It's one of the few pitfalls of it, but the amount of other content (PPVs, 'new shows', etc.) is absolutely worth the money.

Also:

This worked so well because the crowd absolutely lost their shit when it happened. The sight of all the fans behind leaping to their feet is perfect.

Cesaro got Big Show up a lot easier than Hogan got Andre up.

But still, that side by side of those two shots is amazing.

Those back muscles of Cesaro are beastly. I don't think I've been as impressed with anyone in the WWE in terms of physical strength as I've been of Cesaro.

Question:

Do you guys think Raw will push this thread close to or over 20k posts?

We've got a ton of ratings this month.

I think what we'll need is to actively watch the thread during Raw, and if it does reach that # to just switch over to the April Wrasslin thread.

Probably.

I imagine we'll have a HUGE shit storm in this thread when Heyman or Bryan kick off RAW.

Which I think has been discussed, but:

  1. Was the Taker loss to overshadow Bryan's win? Which do you consider to be the bigger moment of WM 30?
  2. Was Brock's win over Taker, with Heyman in his corner a real "Fuck You!" to CM Punk?!

-- I think they both stand on their own pretty much the same. DIdn't feel like the shine was gone when Bryan got his.

-- I don't think it was meant to be a fuck you, but the results say fuck you Punk.

I think the Undertaker thing is overshadowing Bryan's moment, outside of the initial pop for Batista tapping out the crowd was lukewarm compared to how hot they were for the HHH match.

I just hope it doesn't carry over into Raw.

1. No. They were both massive moments. The Bryan win was needed after the Taker loss to send the crowd home happy

2. No. I'd imagine this was the plan when Taker realized he couldn't go anymore. Punk was probably the last thing on anyones mind booking that one.

1. It could be been the last match to not overshadow Bryan's victory, but I don't think they did it to overshadow Bryan. I'd consider Taker's loss bigger just because I've been following Taker longer than I have Daniel Bryan so it means much more to me that he lost his streak.

2. Doubt it. I think it was Taker's choice in the end, but it does come off as "Fuck you" to CM Sunk.

CM Punk would be the last person who deserves to end the streak

Doubtful. A 4 hour wrestlemania with no commercials couldn't even get 100 pages. No way a 3 hour raw will get 70+ pages to reach 20k posts.

Little late but here are my thoughts on Mania.

Hogan/Austin/Rock promo - Ran on a bit too long but I liked it. Was neat to see the three of them in the same ring. I was reminded of all the countless Austin vs Hogan rumours during it though.

Daniel Bryan vs Triple H - They really nailed it from a technical front, and Steph was great at ringside. Definitely the match of the night. Seeing Triple H open Mania was really surreal.

Shield vs Kane+NAO - I still think this was a waste of the Shield. Did Kane even get any offence in? I seriously don't remember.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale - Well we got out Andre reference, and not the one I was expecting. I marked quite hard when Cesaro bodyslammed Big Show. I hope this is the beginning of big things for him.

Cena vs Bray - Bray looked like gold in this match. He really nailed it. The whole "Cena's inner monster" story was bullshit though. I just kept thinking back to his I Quit match with JBL at Judgement Day 2005. I would have liked it more if the finish was Bray laughing and singing "He's got the whole world in his hands" as Cena had the STF on before passing out (like someone mentioned here).

Brock vs Undertaker - Terrible match. But no one's going to remember this match for the quality. That ending is the biggest Mania moment ever (or at least in recent years). And the commentary was fucking horrible "The streak! ... is over". I wonder how JR would have called that ending. Seeing Taker in the state he was in that match was depressing, but he was a favourite of mine for a long time so seeing the streak end was incredibly surreal. Heyman was fantastic as always.

Diva Invitational - I felt bad for the divas. Having to follow Taker losing. I thought Naomi was going to win because I remember reading that she was planned to be the champion going into Mania. Brie Bella was another guess because they may have wanted Bryan and Brie as champions and pair them together more on Raw.

Batista vs Orton vs Bryan - I was confused initially because of there being no promo video but then I remembered that the "feud" between Batista and Orton had virtually no build up. I have to give props to all three of them though, they did their roles well. During the celebration I kept expecting Triple H or Stephanie to shout "CUT THE MUSIC!". Thankfully Bryan got his Wrestlemania moment.

In regards to the streak, I feel that closing Mania with that would both be really good but also a bad ending. Good because very few things will be able to follow such a hard task. But bad because that'd be quite the downer ending for a Mania.

No, because he's a homophobic hatemonger.

First I'm hearing about this. Any links about this?

I always wondered how solid those cube things were. Found out.

I cringed at that part. Looked quite nasty and seeing the blood on Orton's back made it worse.

Really interested to see where Raw takes things.

With how shitty the Cena match ended, and hearing how shitty Cena's booking ideas have been in the past, I am 99% sure that entire finish was Cena's call.

It's ok Cena, you can have a finish where you win but the other guy can still looks good. It's ok. #spotprotectionmode

Cena's reactions during that match were embarrassingly terrible.

The will he/won't he stuff was bad enough, but I was utterly perplexed by the way he reacted early on in the match - Bray wouldn't fight and then tried to cheap shot Cena, but Cena got the upper hand, Bray bailed to the floor and Cena just started inarticulately raging for no good reason. It came across as so forced and ridiculous. The guy is an awful actor.

I actually hope they're done with the feud, try and move The Wyatts on to something worthwhile and forget the whole Cena thing ever happened. More Wyatts vs Shield stuff sounds like money, to me.

So DB has to face Orton right? to finish the feud?

Theoretically. I think they'd be smarter to go Lesner/Bryan at Extreme Rules, then transition back to Orton.

I'd say Bryan/Lesner should be saved for Summerslam, but I have a feeling that Batista would have the belt by then.

Dumb question, I'm at work.

Is WM30 available on demand on the Network? I want to re-watch the end of the Taker/Brock match

Agreed. The bold is the route I wish they went with Wrestlemania XXX. Shield vs Wyatts would have been top notch, except they needed to find a slot for Cena. It's too bad since they wasted Shield potential at Mania in a squash match. I'm looking forward to seeing which direction the Wyatts go in today's Raw.

What time is Raw tonight?

And what's the shakedown in terms of watching it on the network? Is it live only or will it be available to watch after broadcast?

Couldn't disagree more with this. Of all the time I hate the hushed tone, it was absolutely appropriate here. And how long does JR need to be gone before we stop comparing every announcer to him? I mean, I love the guy, but he's not coming back.

But Orton has a rematch clause correct?
