Fuck you, Alto. It is against the rules of the game to decide at the end that you're just going to take both girls.

Fuck you.

Anyway, it wasn't bad. I mean, the animation was horrible, but man the plot was full of so much stupid popcorn soap op drama I couldn't put it down.

Make sure to check out the movies lol. One of the songs in the second movie isn't called "Sayonara no Tsubasa ~ The End of Triangle" for nothing!

Time to watch the superior re-telling movies breh, Macross Tradition!

Honestly, watching in any in that kind of public setting must be awful. Everyone will be clapping, whooping and hollering. I'll enjoy the peace and quiet of my room danke schön.

You'll be surprised. Went to the Muv-Luv: Total Eclipse premier two years ago at AX and the crowd was chanting USA USA USA. The director said America was great and stuff and that sparked some patriotic behavior. Then we got to witness the OP and ED being performed live. More hollering, cheering ensued. The show was utter trash but the atmosphere made it seem great.

Toei's internal CGi department is actually pretty good, at least relative to most other CG studios in the anime industry. So this was probably as good as they could make them with the time they had.

It should also be noted that Toei is overworking hundreds of their 2D animators right now with so many shows on their plate.
That may all be, but it doesn't change that this looks pretty bad and it will look every episode that bad.

I went to 009 RE:CYBORG in a public setting and the director was there and explained that one of the characters was British. No chants of UK UK UK here, just a polite chuckle. But then again this wasn't an expo but the BFI which attracts, I dare say, the more high cultured crowd i.e. they were watching this film not because it was anime but because it was a foreign film.

I'll admit I may be considered a slightly self loathing anime fan i.e. snob in that if I see other anime fans I almost don't want anything to do with them. Though that's mostly because it's a medium and a broad one at that and I know two people liking anime doesn't necessarily mean they have anything in common and heck I certainly know my consumption of this medium differs widely from "the norm". And, heck, if you can tell someone likes anime from just looking at them it means they are either a) in cosplay b) wearing odd clothes like goggles c) buying Naruto manga. You'll never be able to discuss the intricacies of Inferno Cop with those people so you're better off just walking away with your toffee nose in the air.

And the worst thing about it is that I've likely seen less anime, been watching it for less time and know less about it than them.

Marathoned Puchimas. Didn't skip the OP once.

Are you making a high-level joke here, or did you watch the BD version? It's hard to tell sometimes...

I was there. Your argument is invalid.

I pretty much hate every single 'geek culture' out there. Most of the people rarely know what they're talking about and are happy to live in filthy ignorance.

I dunno. When I think of associating myself with other anime fans outside the internet I sometimes feel like a snob because for sure they have not watched nearly as much anime as I have, haven't watched the breath of genres I have or I assume they watch nothing but entry-level stuff like Naruto, One Piece and SAO and think Cowboy Bebop is the pinnacle of animation.

I don't get this same feeling when it comes to video game fans though, even jrpgs.

Lol. I get the opposite, I always feel like a casual except in specific areas.

Yeah, but I really shouldn't feel like a snob when the shows I'm watching are CGDCT shows. Really it's not that much better than Naruto or One Piece. I blame the fact that before I really got into this medium I was still aware of Naruto, Bleach, One Piece etc fans as a result of the vocal Internet lot which likely coloured my perception and they were pretty easy to make fun of.

This train of thought is the result of having walked passed a group of friends(?) on Saturday who were dressed up in Attack of Titan outfits and I did feel like I did look down upon them which is really rather wrong.

But the people I will look down upon with no feeling of guilt are those who still buy standard flavoured Pocky. You can buy it in the shops for the fraction of the price under the name Mikado. It's the same thing, it even says Glico (the Japanese company behind Pocky) on the box! They are literally buying it for the name!

The difference between us is that their sample group is potato chips and then all of a sudden BAM filet mignon. While we've had everything that ranges from diarrhea to bologna to chicken Alfredo and finally to filet mignon with scallops and on the side with white truffle all over that shit.

And Chef Ramsay says those scallops are fucking delicious. 10/10 would bebop again.

Yeah, there's not much I'd rate off the top of my head over Cowboy Bebop. Monster, Wandering Son...maybe Baccano? There certainly aren't many.

I'd rate Monster high there but that's one of the works that really I can't rate too high as an anime. I'd rate it as amazing television though. It just really didn't feel like it took advantage of the medium and that it did something that made me tell myself that it couldn't be done in any other medium.
Why do Americans call Gordon Ramsay "Chef Ramsay"? I've seen in a lot. You're not in the kitchen.
1. Because it's funnier that way
2. Every show we love him in he's called chef. So it stuck with us.

Why do we call every doctor by their title outside of formality when not speaking to him directly?

Of what I've seen (non-movies) I'd say probably Planates and Black Lagoon (?) are my only comparators, but then I haven't watched as widely as I'd like really

GiTS would be up there but it kind of disappears up its own synthetic butt every once in a while

Speaking of Sailor Moon: New transformation sequence

CG... Are you kidding me?
that's disgusting. really disgusting.

Well, nearly. "Gambling Anime", which in reality is actually "Everyone's Cheating At Everything" tend to fall into two main categories.

You've got those genius heroes who will never lose:

- Akagi
- One Outs
- NGNL

and then you have stories where the protagonist can actually fail:

- Kaiji

Kaiji is clearly the outlier here, but by setting up the stories in such a manner that you don't know whether Kaiji will win or lose the actual games/gambles tend to be considerably tenser.
Fukumoto is the best in that field, am I right.

also who enjoyed Kaiji/Akagi would probably like other works from him, like Ten (sequel to Akagi), Zero (classic genius, last arc wasn't really great though) and Buraiden Gai. sadly the only anime adaptation he got is Akagi and just 2 seasons of Kaiji.

Better Shingeki than KLK.
if only.

Did you spend your day walking back and forth in front of that ad to ruin all their photos?

More like posing in front of it.

I thought the guy with glasses on the far right was an actual person just walking in a goofy way.

"Tomcats. You can't live with 'em, you can't throw 'em down a well and drown 'em. There really otta be a law."

A fun first episode. It took me a while to notice that apparently all the characters in the show are cyborgs or androids or something and aren't just wearing mech suits (at least I think so).

I saw the game of that at SGDQ 2014. the title almost convinced me to start watching it.

"I hope our plan with the sushi maker works. Oh, I love drama. How do you deal with drama and danger?"
"I lift one eyebrow and look ominous."
"Fine for you, at least you have eyebrows. I've been forced to go through life without any. I find this highly amusing. We will now laugh."

A fun episode, but not as good as the first. A giant sushi-making bird-bot isn't as cool as a dragon.

...and yeah, I think that old bird is the only character that actually has eyebrows.

NYA-NYA-NYA-NYA-NYA CATMAN!

I really like all of the designs in this show, whether it's the characters or the random robots that the Pizza Cats fight. Also Lucille is hilarious.Oh yea, and after actually watching the OP, the characters actually are some kind of robots.... and there's a beach episode.

I'm just tired of reading that sentiment online. It's usually in forums like MAL or 4chan.

"Lol you think Cowboy Bebop is good? Obviously you don't watch a lot of anime"

It's like that 26 year old who looks down on the early 20s person. They've seen some shit and experienced all life has to offer you're but a mere fucking baby compared. That's not even good beer.

And when they list their top anime it's usually some shit. Like your favorite anime.

Never seen any major backlash outside of certain people who complain it airs too much on Toonami.
