Cel-Shaded Brawler Transformers Devastation Leaked

Holy shit, I've always dreamed about a G1 Transformers game that looks like this. I would prefer it to be a sprawling action adventure like the PS2 game, but I'll take what I can get.

So what do you think - will it be better than the older TF games (Cybertron games)?

Gameplay is really going to come down to preference between third-person shooter and character-based action brawler, but I'd be surprised if whoever is making this gets even a quarter of the budget that the Cybertron games had. Those had a ridiculous amount of love poured into them.

I still want a follow-up to FoC by High Moon Studios, but a Platinum Transformers game could kick ass, too.
Especially if I can get it on my Wii U.
Hopefully it'll be good and well-polished, because I'll take every good TF game I can get. How completely the devs work in G1 continuity, though, is anyone's guess. :p

The first 20 minutes of the Movie - sat with my Mother as a wide-eyed, innocent six year old expecting a joyfully colourful ride through the Transformers universe - was possibly the most harrowing experience of my formative years.

Man I cried so hard. I still remember it vividly. My hero died :(

Me and my sister cried the whole day that happened, we were devastated and my mum couldn't console us lol.

If this is Platinum I hope it has a bigger budget than Korra at least.

Oh man that 80's Drive Synthwave Future-electro is soooooooo goooooood.

I had to look for more music like that... check out Mega Drive if you like that music!

On topic though... im with the "Ill be so disappointed if this is the Unannounced Platinum Game."

The Cel-Shading looks fantastic though... but ive never been a fan of transformers games in general... and if Korra is anything to go by, this will be a pretty crappy low budget brawler. (IF its platinum.)

I really hope PG is going to show MGR2 or Vanquish 2... not.... this.

It's a strange day when we have to be cautiously optimistic about a G1 Transformers game developed by Platinum. Has anyone from Platinum or Activision (lol) commented on Korra's reception? Judging by the concern here and elsewhere it seems to have done some real damage to Platinum's pristine reputation.

Seconded. Or just buy the rights to the music from the G1 show.

Sod that, just put the entire tracklisting from the 1986 movie all over the bastard. I'd be sitting playing trying to see through tear-sodden eyes.
EDIT: And synch the track "Dare" up with a sequence where you have to drive like a bastard through a Decepticon battalion.

The way the shots are framed is VERY PG. Looks just like the early Korra shots. I'll be gutted if this is PGs game reveal... I just don't trust them working with Activision after Korra.

the other Transformer games has been on WiiU

True, but not FoC.

Fingers crossed, but yeah, if it's DD-only, that's just makes the odds like zero. Also this is the same publisher that decided against releasing the Spongebob Heropants game on Wii U. 360 was the only home console to get it.

Honestly I think Skylanders and GH Live are coming only because they'll make the money via everything but the physical game or something (the toys, and GH's songs and whatnot as it's also a "platform" of its own apparently).

Yup that's the Platinum game.

Disappointed it's not MGR2 (or a sequel to something else or an original IP). Nto as big into Transformers as I am Korra. Would have preferred a Korra sequel over this.

If this is a toys-game ala skylanders et. all, I will take a 2nd mortgage out on my house immediately following the announcement.

Has a nice visual style, and TF is a good brand for action. I don't know though what they can do with the "transforming" aspect of Transformers though as this looks like straight brawling (and if it is PlatinumGames, they aren't known for locomotion aside from some long knee-slides in Vanquish.) I'm guessing the project fit an engine and a franchise and that was that, but if it turns out good then so be it.

On the fly switching between robot and vehicle to combo the living hell out of the Decepticons would be so awesome.

No way that vehicles will be anything but an afterthought. The Atari 2004 game by Melborne House was a massive challenge and just barely worked, and none of the other TF games from High Moon or TT or Luxoflux met that challenge of scale. Even the Cybertron games, which managed to successfully include vehicle play with the robot shooting, they still focused on doing right what they could.

I'm a sucker for Cel-Shaded art direction.

Looks gorgeous, I'm in before I know anything more.

Really though, looks very interesting, keeping tabs.

Disappointed it's not a new IP if this is indeed Platinum, but it still looks good.

I am all for adding more cel shaded games to the market. I am quitely hoping for a cel shaded tidal wave to arrive as a response to the high cost of trying to create realistic graphics.

Love this kind of stuff, yup. Thanks for the link. I'm gonna put this on while I wash the dishes.

Here's some more for you then. This is the bands used in Power Drive 2000.

If you liked Mega Drive you'll be right at home with these. Also I'd suggest Perturbator and Lazerhawk.
