Confirmed: Transformers Devastation is made by PlatinumGames

Can't believe there are so many people in this thread whining about a G1 Transformers action game, made by Platinum.
Even complaining about those graphics.

What's wrong with you guys?
:p

For some reason people are acting like Platinum turned down Rising 2 to make this game. When everyone knows that it seems Konmi is not interested in making video games other than main line Metal Gear these days.

Man every Platinum thread harbours so many angry replies these days.

Here's hoping Platinum will kmock it out of the park because I want crow to be eaten.

I hope its a great game too. However, its hard not to be somewhat skeptical considering what happened the last time Platinum and Activision got together to make a licensed game.

Well, that's unfortunate. I feel like it's a waste of Platinum Games' talent to work on licensed games, especially since they don't seem to have a big budget for these.

But good news for Transformers' fans.

You need G1 to set up properly set up the plot in Beast Wars. Or is it the other way around?

While it is considered that BW is an AU (sorta, depends on the continuity), BW does need G1 to happen since it's from the far future.

With that said I would also want to see Shattered versions, where the Decepticons are led by a nerdish engineer named Megatron off to stop the tyranny of Optimus Prime.

Yeah I suggest you look up Shattered Glass. It's a really fun Mirrorverse.

The amount of facepalm in this topic is off the charts.

I for one am happy that the 80s(!!) Transformers are being given a game hopefully worthy of their epicness.

Granted, season 1 was really cringeworthy but being purely aimed at kids at the time it's forgiven. Season 2 got better, but then the movie came and all the kids were suddenly asked to deal with life and death. Season 3 and 4 were so much stronger after that, and basically the movie and the following seasons is what TF is mostly loved for with the older crowd.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to what PlatinumGames can do with the (possible) budget that High Moon got for their TF games. I mean, it's Activision's only TF game so far this year, and I'm happy they decided to go in a different direction for this one.

There's a little more risk to it, which we've hardly seen from several publishers in recent years.

It's better than the annoying "Platinum should reboot every game series in existence" crap people used to do.

I guess when a dev is treated like they're unrealistically flawless and then have a misstep people get more vengeful than they would had there been a realistic expectation.

Honestly both ends of the spectrum come off childish, hopefully Platinum is able to move to an esteemed but still realistic reputation when the dust settles.

It is baffling to me how much negativity there is in this thread. Game looks fantastic and I don't even care about transformers. Shame I don't have a console to run it.

Same here on all accounts. The negativity is insane, I hope people aren't this negative in their day to day dealings.

Is it just me or is their animated 2D look pretty weak now that Guilty Gear Xrd's method is known and looks near flawlessly like 2d animation?

Maybe if Guilty Gear Xrd's method didn't still cost a bunch of time and money.

So not really.

This looks so good but I'm kind of disappointed this is PlatinumGames' game.

Basically what it comes down to for me. But I guess it makes sense for them to do a smaller budget licensed game at the side to help pay the bills. I'll still play it but it's clearly not as exciting as some other things they could work on, unless you're still a huge Transformers fan.

I can't stand this song because it reminds me of Hot Rod. Screw that goddamn shitty asshole. Screw him forever. Pretty sure the first time I cried at a movie was because of this worthless tool. He killed Optimus man. His shittyness killed Optimus Prime.

This is a full retail game from a major publisher and very well known studio.
There's a video available already? Linkage please
There's images of the fighting in the op and it clearly loses the 2d effect.

I don't think I ever actually believed that it would be Vanquish 2, but I hoped beyond reasonable expectations that it was and now I'm disappointed.

Game still looks neat, though.

I wonder why there are so many negative comments toward this. I guess maybe one of the reason is that there are many younger people here who didnt grow up with the original Transformers and therefor have no assosiation to it. Personally, i think the screenshot looks great. I immediately thought of the 80s Transformers, good memories :)

Hahahahaha I knew it would just be some licensed shit.
Doe that really matter though?

What was wrong with the Korra game?

Short, lacking enemy variety, simple level design, padded out with "infinite runner" style, it took a while to get all your powers and that was when the combat got really good.

It wasn't bad and was a fun game (with a really frustrating pro-bending mode based of the sport from the series) just had issues that were clearly because of time and budget and not the skill of the team or the dedication.

Probably because we're basing it on Platinum's last bout with Activision as publisher. It's more likely to play out like that than to be magically as good as Bayonetta 2. I'm not saying the game will be bad (just like I won't say Korra is bad. Korra is good) I'm saying it'll suffer the same problems that Korra did and while you or I might find the final game good and fun, critics and reviews will cite the same issues they cited with the Korra game.

This game LOOKS amazing, hopefully it will be. MGR2 would be nice yes but just because it's not the game people were thinking people shouldn't shit on it.

I can empathize though, when Nintendo hyped a new 3DS game last E3 the day after their Direct everyone including me was hoping for metroid or MM 3ds,especially after the metroid pin that troll Reggie wore. I was so salty that is was Codename STEAM.

Now THAT game was awful.
