Destiny: Rise of Iron Launches September 20th (PS4/XB1), lots of details leak

We'll be carrying over our characters to Destiny 2 at the very least. We don't know what else.

I may be reading into it to much

They could just be dropping old gen to give them slightly more freedom with Vanilla updates and expansion

Still believe D2 to be a completely new game from the ground up

The fact this is apparently current gen only is pretty exciting as it means they may be able to push the boundaries a little bit more

No last gen support ?

I hope there isn't. Getting around the memory limits of a ps3/360 could really help with providing larger environments and cutting back on the terrible load transitions between ship/tower/ship/pvp/ship/tower/repeat.

Leaving the 360/PS3 behind right now would be fantastic.

It's very clear that those consoles are holding the game down, so it's time to cut the cord.

Remember that Rockstar did the same for GTA Online, abandoning last gen consoles for quite a while now.

As for the expansion, I'm really looking forward to it. If the other "leak" is correct and this will indeed include a new Raid, I can see myself spending hours and hours on Destiny once again.

This is the second time Bungie has teased an expansion with snow environments. If this expansion is mostly based in the Cosmodrome it would make sense to have some mountainous snow-capped locales. Make it happen.

10 days before FF15.

I just wish it wasn't a Tuesday release. I might take PTO from Tuesday til Thursday and work from home on Friday.

So no actual new info though beside the release date and platforms... I just don't know.

Destiny definitely brought me back with The Taken King, but I don't know that I want to keep playing with the same spit-and-glue frankestein that they've created anymore. They made a lot of improvements, and the gameplay is still fun, but I want a new game where the fundamental systems are fixed. I don't know if I want to do another expansion.

Do we know that? Source?

The reveal is tomorrow....patience man lol.

Just baffled by how progressively stupid it keeps getting.

Taken King was great and destiny has gotten progressively better, by a long shot................

Wait, this is still not Destiny 2?

No, the sequel was rebooted a few months ago with Luke Smith heading up the team. I'm not sure if there's any part of Rise of Iron that was intended for Destiny 2, but they had to have something out in 2016 to keep players going.

If they're announcing Rise of Iron before e3... I can only imagine Destiny 2 being teased for next year during Sony & Activision's events.

TTK was one of the best expansions I played of any game. Was fantastic.

For the first few weeks...

Then it was the same old, same old. Still, there's a solid base here so I would pick this up at launch. Love me some Destiny.

That would be awesome if they dropped last gen. Of course if that means the game can move forward and not be limited if it was.

Totally misses the part about no mention of PS3/Xbox 360. I guess they can't support a base model with 60 GB anymore, might as well just call it quits.

April update helps a bit

Nice to have some of the old stuff back and redone extra curricullars

What was the date in September when you're required to have Neo support (supposedly)?
I'm expecting they will tease a bit of Destiny 2 at E3 but no gameplay. It will be interesting if they announce PC support at E3. . I might have to consider switching over.
Hopefully they'll allow platform switching. Hopefully, since they're integrated to bungie.net anyway.

We don't know what they meant fully by that. We could carry over our physical appearance for all we know and nothing else.

hope they're ditching last gen

Image doesn't mention 360 or PS3 at all.

Bungie pulled the listing.

This thing better be fucking good.

The Destiny engine and gameplay is so ace, but the amount of content and the progression mechanics have always been pretty bad.

I just want to play your awesome game without getting burned out right away.

This is DLC for a game that was already held back by last gen. Not seeing advantage in cutting support now.

So they can make Rise of Iron better?

The Taken King already have some weird limitations on the 360/PS3 like the spinning part on the Touch of Malice. It doesn't move on last-gen.

Isn't this free? Or am I misremembering? I thought they said something along the lines of everything released before "Destiny 2" would be free...

Nope.

There was an article on Kotaku saying all future updates to Destiny would be free, i.e. the free updates from the live team like Crimson Doubles and SRL.

Actual expansions like The Taken King and Rise of Iron will continue to cost.

For me it depends on what we're getting for a certain price point.

If there's only 1 new area again (the dreadnaught was great, but it was still only one place) and one new raid and a few new strikes for 40 bucks - I'll pass and wait for a while. If there's some new gameplay element though, I'll be down (please be space combat please be space combat please...)

Ha, I know. I'm not faulting them for not telling me more. I'm just eager to see what they're bringing to the table because I frankly don't know what they could do with the existing product that would satisfy me at this point.

Oh okay. Thanks for the info. I never got around to finishing TTK, so I'll probably pass on this. Destiny's no fun when you're behind everyone and have no friends lol
