Fairy Tail - Priestess of the Phoenix

So I finally get to take a look at this movie I've wanted to see so badly.

You know how most of the Pokemon movies start off with something mysterious related to the plot, and then you just see Ash and the gang just messing around for the entire first half before the actual plot kicks in and leaves before the whole shibang is forgotten at the end?

That's exactly what they did here. The first scene of the movie after the opening is just our main characters beating up a bunch of thugs before meeting the major character exclusive to the film. Then they just mess around and have fun while some badly paced foreshadowing happens in the background.

The pacing was horrible. It started off really slow, and everything else after the halfway point was rushed. The plot and back story that they give to this Eclair girl goes by so quickly that I could barely understand what was going on. A shame too. Her character trait is that she hates magic, but they don't really flesh it out enough to become really significant. After the halfway point the whole thing follows the typical Fairy Tail formula. Poorly developed villains attack, Fairy Tail gets their asses handed to them, they swear revenge, they counterattack and win, title character of the movie dies, then Nalu fanservice, then boop! End of movie.

I was kind of dissapointed by the lack of actual plot in this film. If I saw the script alone, I would have assumed that it was some kind of bad fan-fic. I watch Fairy Tail because I don't know where the plot goes! There's always this creepy foreshadowing in the background that makes me want to watch more! They tried to do that here, but it was so rushed I couldn't care about it.

You probably think I hate this movie, but it does have it's good points.

The animators finally got the guts to show blood, something that is almost never seen in the anime. One of the villains gets defeated by Erza in a manner I thought was hilarious and was totally in character for her. Almost all of the characters in the guild get an attack on the big boss at the end, which didn't dissapoint me. While Eclair wasn't that great of a character, her final scene where her immortality (yeah there's that kind of twist) is taken away from her by our main heroes to save everyone. I thought Lucy's desperate pleas to save her were done really well as she constantly tried to deny Eclair's inevitable death. Oh and the soundtrack was incredible.

I was dissapointed with how this turned out because the advertising for this was awesome! The trailer got me pumped with OST and all the characters and sound effects meshing together.

But as much as I hate to say this, Fairy Tail: Priestess of the Phoenix is on par with the Pokemon movies. Bad pacing, forgettable villains, and really cliche. And this is coming from someone who likes the traditional Fairy Tail cliches! But all in all, it's a fun little flick for fans of the series and has a decent amount of fanservice. See it if you like Fairy Tail, but don't expect anything that couldn't have just been it's own little mini-anime arc.

That was like watching Luis Suárez handball in the last minute and then seeing Asamoah Gyan blow away the penalty. One of the best episodes I've ever watched in any sports anime, as it didn't just come down to freaking guts.

They should do more team karuta. It's a shitload more fun than regular karuta.

Anime achievements is a fun idea, but they really need to get more creative with them.

I'm just glad they expanded them from what they were as the lack of historical hurt. I'd think franchise ones were be good next for longer running stuff like Lupin, Gundam, etc.

We;; this was a pretty weird episode of PBC. It seems that Mr. Fulltime Panda became so popular in Singapore that he's now been moved to Arcadia and not only is he still working at a Zoo but he's now got a side-job working as a car that transforms into a panda mecha! He's not the only one with a new job though as it looks like Handa now works in the police force, no doubt a fresh start after getting rejected by Sasako. Well, either that or he just wants to perv on these freaky panda themed showgirls.

Oh that Handa!

This season has been masterful so far. Seeing Chihaya's parents even getting involved in her Karuta shenanigans is wonderful to finally see. And Taichi got told at the end of this episode. TOLD!

Anime-Planet has franchise-specific achievements, but then again, who actually uses Anime-Planet? :lol

Unpredictable outcome, anime consistently keeps me from being able to predict these outcomes.
Wow for Koutai, even yelling out FINAL TURN
. Nova Grapplar is still the deck Id use in the anime but the deck using Dimensional Robos, Daiyusha, Dimensional Robo Daidragon, Dimensional Robo Daimariner, is a fun to use and then a Crossride potentially with them. Fun fast episode.

What The Fuck happened here? This episode look like shit, missing animations, atrocious drawings. Did they run out of funds for this show?

Another incredible episode. There were a lot of really nice character moments here, and pretty much every scene with Hanano was hilarious. This season continues to be pitch perfect.

Now Rin's beginning to open up a bit now that Daikichi's family is actually treating her like a child instead of a burden. The way she latched onto him at their house was kinda sad but also adorable, like when she was sitting back-to-back with him. And it became better especially when Reina came over. They're friends now after Reina called her boring in the first episode.

Daikichi consulted a co-worker he works with and decides to request a position with no overtime. For Rin. And his scene at the end when she wets the bed in the middle of the night was really good. He's surprisingly good at this child-raising thing after only having done it for like a week now.

Didn't he post quite a bit of them a few months ago? I know he did in the K-ON! thread a while ago too.

I really don't look in the K-ON! thread much at all.

Are the movies worth watching if I've already seen the series?

For novelty's sake, I'd say yes. It's sort of interesting how the four general stuff is resolved in the timeframe allotted and the final encounter is just a bit different in sort of a fanservicey (franchise, not sex) way.

Not really. There's some new animation but the best part can already be found in the Second Parallel Works collection anyway. Still, it's better than the shitty DS game extra.
