Oculus Quest

I'm undecided about whether or not to get the 64 or 256 gig quest 2. I pre-ordered the 64gif but I'm thinking "more space just incase" but then again I could use that $100 on a aftermarket link cable, and the elite strap

64 pre-ordered here, if space is issue I just uninstall older, finished games. Good for smaller backlogs...

besides, 64 gives nostalgic vibes and I pretend to kick that of with Quake VR

I will absolutely re-play Superhot when my Quest 2 arrives. I haven't had any issues with it on my Quest 1 but 90fps and sharper visuals will be appreciated.

The dev material I have read seems to indicate that the 90hrz option will not be available on release day but will be supported in select cases after launch.
Was there an accountment recently I could have missed?

There is a demo available for Superhot for Quest so maybe check it out with roomscale on your Quest 1 before your new headset arrives.

I don't own Quest 1.

Most people will be fine with the 64gb model because the vast majority of existing games are very small. That will change over time now as developers are abel to include better quality assets, but the 64gb model isn't going to become limiting for most people for a while yet, if at all.

The reason to go 256gb for Quest 2 would be if you wanted to have a bunch of movies (VR porn in particular comes in at silly filesizes) on the device for something like travelling... or if you were planning on installing almost every game and app ablvailable in the store.

Will be watching this thread for impressions. I want to be on board with this but I am too shy after having a Quest 1 that gave me migraines because of the strap.

I'm not sure what the plans are for enabling 90hz, I was just referring to the Superhot trailer posted above that lists it as 90hz ready.

If you only own PSVR, you will be blown away by Quest. Roomscale VR is bonkers!

there is limited roomscale on psvr, only a few steps but it's there. I don't have actual physical space available for much more than that

but Quest is mobile, so I can play anywhere and eventually will find larger spaces

more important: it's cable-free. You can do a full 720 atop a skateboard without getting tangled up. That's real progress for VR...

They already said 90hz will be added after launch at some time. The quest 2 will be my first VR headset and so far the reviews or previews have been really good especially for a $300 headset. The reverb g2 would make a better pcvr set but being able to go mobile and wireless is a big advantage for the quest.

My only concern is that with the quest 2 they limited the ipd to 3 settings and not 5 like quest 1

Population One on Quest 2 looking hot as well:

3 years on psvr and all I got anything like this was the venerable Rec Royall in Rec Room, running like crap

it's unbelievable that PS4 Pro gets humiliated by mobile chip, but it's true. Even it's premier (and pretty much only) shooter, Firewall, is a slow-paced "tactical" shooter in quite small maps...

they also previously bought Layers of Fear to Quest

pcvr fans mad in the comments at devs wanting big money from a more popular platform

I was lucky enough to play the beta. Game is a system seller if they nail the net code. Super fun and really hard.

There's videos on YouTube of people running it in 90h already wireless. I think they're disabling it at launch but will be coming soon afterwards

I've got a quest 2 64gb on preorder and will probably buy the deluxe headstrap as well. This will be my first entry to vr, can't wait to try this. Also got a 3rd party pclink cable for pc games for it

No, man. Don't make your first steps into VR a barf zone. Take your time with short demos and mostly stationary games like Superhot before going for games with in-game locomotion. Otherwise you risk hating VR right away and becoming another salty gaffer...

The ability to play all PC VR titles on this wirelessly is one of its biggest strengths.

64GB is more than enough to hold at least 5 large games or a mix of 10+ games.... I would only go up to the 256 if you like having a huge library available at all times. I personally only play 2-3 titles at a time so the 64gb is fine.

Putting that extra $100 to the elite strap with additional battery will give you a much better experience

Ordered a quest 2 and have a quest 1. Will I be able to play multiplayer with each headset with the same account in both quests? I don’t want to have to rebuy games to enjoy multiplayer locally.

You're in for a treat then. Most people have at least tried shitty phone VR, but that really defeats the purpose with its shit tech. Quest 2 is great.

Ordered. I really like my Quest 1; playing Alyx wirelessly was game changing and felt like an actual next gen leap. With Dr.Beef ports including the upcoming Doom 3 port and the higher resolution display it should be a nice upgrade. Think i'll wait to play TWD on this via link or Virtual Desktop.

Damnit now I have to decide keep the Quest 1 and get a Series X or just get a gaming PC so I can Virtual Desktop Alex and upgrade to Quest 3 in two years.

I have a CV1 headset. How big of a jump is it gonna be if I upgrade to the quest 2?

Yep I watched a lot of reviews and while the facebook account sucks the price for the hardware is too good to pass, I'll be joining the dark side. Also the fact that I can link and play pcvr games is awesome

So the 64GB one is enough space? Just seems small when used to normal PC games.
Yeah it is, games aren't that big to begin with and you'll be linking to play pcvr games anyways. From what I've read and reviews, bigger storage is if you want to store a lot of media like movies etc... I think the price difference is better spent on accessories like the deluxe headstrap which seems a must from vr youtubers

You'll likely love it, just imagine playing games on a massive, life-sized screen in front of you. It sells it completely.

Ok bit the bullet. Bought the 64GB, pro strap and an off-brand link cable from Amazon to get them next week.

I love what Quest is doing for VR, that said, if I got a stand alone kit it'd have to be a more powerful iteration, Quest 2 or Quest 3, hopefully with a modern high end mobile chipset of the era rather than something weaker/older as this.

so, is it time? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Not really sure why the other posted a comparison of the Quest1, presumably they read CV1 as Quest1.
From what I've seen is that the SDE is much reduced, to the point that many previews say SDE is almost invisible with the Quest2.
I'm looking to upgrade my CV1 as well but I badly need a new GPU so until I can get a 3080 or similar I'll wait.
I think I'll rather wait for the 90hz option to be officially released on the Quest2 anyway.
