Probably the worst part was the 2 times the Wings had pucks in the net but the refs were way, way early with whistles even though the puck was loose.CrazedArabMan said:Got home, turned the game on, saw the score, and turned it off (3-1, 3rd period).
What was bad about the reffing, since I'm to lazy to watch the highlights too.
I figured they were going to lose also *shrugs
One of them in particular was just awful, and at a very important moment. The score was 3-1 Flames and the Wings had some momentum and managed to score, only the whistle was for some reason blown before the puck went in. Instead of getting a goal, the Flames managed to score right afterwards. There's a big difference between having a 3-2 game or a 4-1 game.
Also, the refs simply refused to call any penalties to the Flames. Word is that Keenan had been complaining about the reffing in the last game between these two teams and it seems like they listened.
With a little over 4 minutes left, when the Wings had managed to make it a one goal game despite being down 4-1 earlier in the period, there was one of the most blatant hookings you're going to see, and no call. It was the kind of situation that is a penalty 10 times out of 10, especially since the Flames had been on 4 PP's and the Wings only 1.
I could go on and on about the calls and non-calls that were made.. even the icing and deflection calls seemed to go the Flames way.
The big deciding factor in the game was goaltending, with Ozzie giving up 3 terrible goals. But no doubt the officiating comes in 2nd place. When the winning team's fans are thanking the refs after the game, you know there was some bullshit going on.
