With regards to the game, who's it aimed at? If it's for the below 18's, Nintendo probably just wasn't comfortable with presenting these themes to kids. I don't think this is a calculated attack on homosexuals or anything.

Just over 5 hours in the game so i am genuinely curious about this
And yeah it would have been cool from nintendo to take out the pregnancy part and add lesbian couples too :/

Reminds me of the first harvest moon game on DS where girls could "marry" the harvest witch which they took out of the US localization.
Then again I don't think that was a bug, but it may have been. That entire game was a glitchy mess.

Unfortunately, no. Hopefully in future installments.
There has been gay relationships alluded to in past games in the series, but nothing concrete.
