Taichi & El Desperado vs Atsushi Kotoge & Hitoshi Kumano
Taichi in black, Desperado in black and masked, Kotoge in pink and Kumano in red
Heels beat down the guy trying to grab the ribbons. The man is just trying to feed his family. Does this mean the fans caused this man's suffering since they threw the streamers? I do so love Taichi and Desperado's entrance.
Taichi-and-El-Desperado.jpg

So you have this dangerous faction causing chaos in your promotion, and you put them up against your junor heavyweight champion(ok) and a guy who just started wrestling(Kumano). Ok? Imagine if Hall & Nash were wrestling Luger and a Powerplant John Cena. Kumano has only been wrestling 2 years, and the dude has some serious cauliflower ear. I've taken to noticing fucked up ears lately for some reason. Tanahashi has it real bad too. Taichi wants Kotoge, but Kumano assures Kotoge 'I got it.' So someone's about to get murked. Taichi kicks the green rookie and throws him into Kotoge's corner, demanding Kotoge instead. Kotoge finally succumbs and enters the ring to start it off.

In a true heel fashion, Taichi then tags in Desperado after all the hubbub about getting Kotoge in to wrestle him. Because they are heels, you see? There is a ton of stalling to build up this match since I assume Kotoge and Taichi are the main juniors feud for this invasion as Taichi has been fucking with all the juniors since Suzuki-gun arrived. There's a long, plodding period of Taichi and Desperado working the green Kumano. Kumano's first tag in was surprisingly decent. Even though he was very green, I thought it got over him being pissed at the slight that Taichi didn't want to wrestle him. He looked very believable forearming and choking Desperado. Gave the young lion a bit of a character before spending the rest of the match selling. There's a bit where Kotoge tries to get into the ring when he's not legal and Taichi begins counting him like a ref would. I thought that was funny. The last 6 or 7 minutes has been extremely plodding. Constant cheating by Desperado and Taichi. Unlike the previous Kenou and Ohara match where the cheating is done quickly and effectively, this drags forever. Kenou and Ohara work around refs and constantly sneak in. The NOAH refs are very lenient, but the amount of times Desperado distracts them makes them look completely incompetent. Like they shouldn't even be in the match if they're not going to enforce any kind of rules. Thankfully, Kotoge gets tagged in.

Kotoge throws himself out of the ring and proceeds to kick Taichi right in the fucking face which is the biggest pop so far. Desperado recovers by hitting Kotoge with one of the worst spinebusters ever. Taichi continues to sell getting kicked in the fucking face for a while which really puts it over. Kotoge does an indyriffic roll through the ropes and cutter to Taichi. Ugh. Kumano hits a nice fisherman suplex on Taichi and Desperado makes the quickest save from the outside I've ever seen. Taichi nails Kumano with the title AND THROWS IT IN THE AIR! THE DISRESPECT!

This is the worst match of the card so far which makes me sad as it was my second most looked forward to match. It has a really great talent and two really good talents with a lot of heat. Even the green Kumano impressed me more than the match did. He needs less elbow based moveset ,but he's very fast and pretty clean at pulling off those moves. Has good fire. But the first half of the match drags on for far too long. There's cheating done in the second half as well, but it's so much quicker paced that it's acceptable. The first half of the match working over Kumano feels like total filler.

According to Meltzer, the indications are that WK9 PPV did "better than expected".

That's good news. Hope they keep doing them and make money with them.

My wife semi-flipped when she saw a PPV for 45 dollars on our last TV bill. Not sure I can justify that kind of purchase again in the future. I want to support NJPW, but World might be enough for me.

You need to show your wife who the captain is.

Please don't get arrested Alucard.

Good! Keep doing them as a full PPV, and -maybe- bring the G1 over too.

Maybe, Bronson. Maybe.

You son of a bitch *lunges*

Nice! Smart of you to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. Just do it again! :p

NOAH, it's ok. You really don't have to book every member of Suzuki-gun. Iizuka doesn't need a singles match every single week.

I really wish there was some super monster Vader or Scott Norton type that would just come out during a Iizuka cheating segment and wipe him off the planes of existence.

Fuck off, you are such a huge waste of time. I've gone from being annoyed by you to actively wanting to see something halt your career immediately.

Agreed, but that was at a time when fans were more openly spewing venom at Cena, and Cena is someone who's been around a long while. People agreed with Bryan. Reigns is a new guy, seemed to be over, and then they scripted him like a comedy character, and now a dick. Regardless of that, there's no reason to be sympathetic towards Bryan, like there was when he fought Cena.

While the brawl to end Raw this week was pretty great, I don't feel like I want to cheer for either guy at Fastlane. I kind of want both of them to lose because neither character is connecting with me on an emotional level, and certainly not on a level that makes me feel sympathy towards one or the other.

Reigns was only over last year when a) he was protected in Shield b)When the fans realised @ RR Daniel Bryan wasn't even in.

Reigns is totally dislikeable character though. We as the viewer shouldn't feel sympathy for any characters on WWE programming or larger wrestling in general. We as viewers should have empathy on the other hand to all the babyfaces, however, only a subsection I can have empathy for including Daniel Bryan.

He lost everything, Dad + Career + Possessions, came back wasn't going to sit back on the sidelines but create chances -> therefore he is the likeable babyface.

You guys give terrible advice, but thank you for the support.

A guy can still act like a dick after losing all those things, which hurts the empathy that you speak of. He had everyone on his side with his return promo, but he's been losing me the past two weeks or so.

They're having him do singles contests? Hope it's like in the second or third match of the night.

He has Duggan booking where he's shitty and gets DQd but the whole match makes him look strong. So Iizuka is not only featured prominently, he's strongly beaten down Sugiura and Zack Sabre Jr. Cheating or not, it just makes those guys look shitty. Sugiura should give him a fucking concussion and Sabre should rip his arm off, but Gedo loves fucking Iizuka and putting him over because he seems to think a DQ means nobody is hurt from the match.

WWE fucked Bryan and Reigns so bad. Their most over babyface is now a loser and less over and their golden boy is now never going to be THE guy.

The most annoying thought process in pro wrestling

Their most over babyface is their current world champion who doesn't show up enough for the creative to ruin his character.

This is great news. I was hoping for at least 8k buys, but it's sounding like it might be closer to 10k. Hopefully they can bring JR back next time.

Rewatching the ROH six-man tag from this week again. Just a lot of fun. Matt Sydal is a pretty special in-ring talent.

If only his talking game and his character were as interesting and exciting as his athleticism and creativity in the ring.
I hate these contrived spots. I feel like the three-way title match from the Rumble is one of the best examples of how to do multi-man spots without garbage like this.

He should stop being a babyface. It doesn't suit him.

Now you see why I shit on the Young Bucks so much. Not only they guilty of it, but they basically inspire every other indy wrestler to do it.
