UK: Ultra Street Fighter II outsold Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite first week in the UK

This feels so wrong given how great and complete of a package MvC:I turned out to be. It's all the progress we've wanted from Capcom as a company, marred by a few bad faces (that got fixed, but who knows that when you have a shit PR department?) and recycled assets.

Have a shit PR department, brehs. Fail to communicate what's in your title until you learn about extra modes and features in leaked copies brehs

This is embarrassing. I have no idea who the fuck is buying USFII, not then, not now.

Agreed on all counts.

Game is the dream.

Remember the "which one will sell more: MvC:I or Injustice 2" thread? Some fun posts in that thread.

Anyway, I'm sure Infinite is not devoid of qualities but for me, no X-Men no buy.
Which is a shame, since I still play Tatsunoko vs Capcom regularly and even as a casual, it's a really fun game.

Imagine if MvC3 for PS4/X1/PC outsells Infinite.

IMAGINE.

TBH I was interested in the game when it was first announced but a combination of disliking the demo that came out, a release month with too many games that I want in it, and Dragonball FighterZ taking all my fighting game hype, I see no need to jump in at this point.

Casuals turned up in some respect for SFV. It underperformed but not catistrophically. This is looking like a genuine bomb.

Yeah still ended up selling 1.4 million in the first month.i think this might be lucky to hit 100k.

Calling 1.4 mil worldwide and stagnating so harshly over the next year that you barely manage another 200k units and still being under your initial one month estimate "underperforming" is an "understatement".

But it still Shipped 1.4 million with Sony footing some of the bill. It's also on less platforms. It wasn't a fanciancial failure, just not exactly a success either.

Dragonball is going to outsell Marvel and Street Fighter isn't it. 😂

Marvel, easily. DBZF looks great and the franchise is at a high point in public interest, even by Dragonball standards, thanks to the super anime. It'll probably destroy street fighter too.

This was expected with the ridiculously overblown and over the top backlash on the interwebs. It's too bad, this game actually looks great where it matters. Last night's top 8 at NCR was spectacular.

And shit the graphics really aren't that bad at all. Dang brainless memers.

The production values are so embarrassingly bad on the new marvel versus Capcom game, I’m sorry but it does not deserve the sales

It's harsh but I'm gonna have to agree with this.

Also, I personally couldn't get past the horrible art. In fact the last MvC game that appealed to me was MvC1. The last two games in particular have has such nasty art direction that they were an instant turn-off for me.

Fighting games with bad art = no buy for me.

Bad marketing + horrendous looking (IMO at least) character models are probably to blame. The latter, along with a combination of a very lackluster roster and a downscale to 2v2 was a deal breaker for me, at full price anyway. Which is sad really, Marvel definitely deserved better.

Couldn't have said any better. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is my favorite fighting game this year and might the most fun I've ever had playing a fighting game ever. It's easily better than the previous MvC games. Hopefully, Marvel vs. Capcom buzz will catch on and casuals will get on with it. It's truly a great game and it deserves a big audience, especially among fighting game enthusiasts.

1.4 mil for a new entry in a major 20+ year old series on the PS4 is definitely a failure. Hell, ARMS is at over a million too and it's a new IP on a system that's barely half a year old. Just because the bill was footed doesn't mean it wasn't a success. Maybe that mitigated the loss Capcom took, but it's sales have been underwhelming for sure

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

MvCI underperforming was expected.. But I doubt anyone would have thought that it'll sell less than USF2 Switch on both systems.

I mean UK is the market where PS4/XBO are the strongest compared to whatever Nintendo offers.

But it also shows that the Xbox audience is irrelevant for these type of games nowadays. Thought people were overreacting with SFV.. But even there the PC sales were kinda lackluster. The people who play these games likely own a PS4 and will purchase that version.
