Cross Assault Thread: Get Cross, taste Salt (SFxT Reality Show)

I'm passing judgment on Watson in the sense that I think he's a bigot, yeah. He's been working pretty hard for more than a decade to earn that judgment, I didn't just decide it on a whim. I'm not passing judgment on every aspect of Watson's life and character, either. You don't get to go around calling people slurs for years and years into microphones and cameras and then wonder why people think you're a bigot; at some point you have to take responsibility for the things you say.

The guy you quoted is talking about Watson, because he's responding to me talking about Watson. I figured you were commenting on that; if that isn't the case I apologize, honestly.

Woulda quoted u and cited Watson and brought his name up if that was the case. Sometimes I post after reading a bunch of pages and then offering my opinion. If I wanted to single out a specific post I would do that. Most of the time I don't even read the names of the ppl posting just the comments since I don't have time to read in depth.

To the guy that asked about sfxt, it's hella fun. Will sim be good or not? Who knows noone has a grasp on this game yet. As usual people are so easy to call tiers and blowups hella quick for a unreleased game when people don't understand how the engine works yet. That's why I don't mind getting lit up too much at this stage of the game. As long as I learn more (and I always learn more when I get exposed esp early in a games life it's all good since it helps me to learn the meta

Well, just spent my morning catching up.

Oh my days.

Two points:

1. Condolences to TastySteve, can't imagine what it must be like to lose someone and have to carry on with an entertainment show.

2. Yo Haunts: you need to make a Coppola, Heart of Darkness style documentary about the making of Cross Assault. I will buy that shit.

Ok, my question, if you have time to answer it: After playing it for a bit, what problems do you think were fixed from SF4- as I know you said you didn't want to play AE period when KOF came out that makes this fun where SF4 wasn't?

I'm really on the fence with this game- if I see it at Final Round I'll want to test it out myself.

Hey Art ( or anyone else who has spent time with sxt )

The game has always looked much stiffer than SF4, does it feel more stiff?

One thing is, most of the footage everyone's seen is 30fps YouTube or stream video at a pretty low resolution, it does look a lot better in person. I think the frame rate on a lot of the videos make it look less smooth than it is.

I realize that, seeing 60 fps footage off of spooky's stream clearly makes the game look smoother however there is still something I can't quite put my finger on.

It reminds me of the early alpha version footage of SF4 shown on 1up sometime 2007/08 where that version was indeed much stiffer and ended up being overhauled.

What happened to Steve?

I agree with some of you that internet always overblown issues.
All in all this was a great ride, I'm curious to see what they have for the final day, I mean you can't top yesterday Ono's appearance.

Well, whatever happens after this I'm at least glad that Miranda is no longer in a situation she finds uncomfortable. I honestly figured after the craziness this weekend that people were going to work to immediately rectify the situation, but it didn't work out that way. I'm still honestly not sure why---maybe the higher ups were trying to hold her to her contract or they were oblivious to the whole thing.

I do hope there aren't too many consequences for the people who don't deserve them, but part of me thinks that nothing will be learned if there isn't some fallout.

Miranda said on twitter that she's not participating any longer of the competition, but today is the final day of the show (besides the finals at Final Round) and she WILL HAVE TO BE there.

So....if she'll have to be there anyways, why she gave up?!

Well, she may be somewhere at Capcom HQ just not with the other competitors.

Maybe they allowed her to finish out her contract by technically being there just not with the other competitors.

Hmmm....why?! Aris wouldn't be there sodomizing her or anything like that

She said she wanted to take a break from the fighting game community for a while after what went down here.

I don't think many people would mess with her down there (not unless they also want to mess with ShinBlanka) but I imagine it'd be pretty intense anyways.

Animations are terrible.
I don't know if that was done on purpose, but it is not as smooth as SF4.

I'm guessing you've played it. Did it look janky or did the characters have big transitions between animations?

I don't think we (who's only experience with the game has been via the stream) can render a verdict on the animations without seeing it in person. Regardless of how smooth the stream is, there is definitely going to be some loss of fluidity.

I don't really see what's so bad, we saw top SFIV players play it without any problem (Rufus looks exactly the same) and none of them said they had any problem with the animations.

Just wondering but has anybody released a story that work on SF5 has begun? I remember hearing about it yesterday that Ono confirmed that work has started on it, but that we probably won't see it for another 3-4 years. Not that this is shocking news with the recent fighting game resurgence, but I figured it should at least be reported and I don't see it anywhere on SRK or Eventhubs.

He never said work began on SF5. He said to expect a SF5 in around 5 years and that he is already working on a new project (after SFxT). He didn't say that new project was SF5 at all and with the time frame he gave for a SF5 I highly doubt that is what it is.

I'm not seeing this wonky animations with characters. I can say that if you're a Tekken player, seeing your characters in the SF4 format can look odd and they may come off not too animated that what you're used to seeing in the actual Tekken game. That's what looks all strange to me, but at the same time, it's really cool seeing the Tekken characters doing their signature type moves in a 2D world. Very very cool.

Old SRK was definitely ruthless.

It was definitively ruthless when I started checking out the site around 2005-06. :p Lot's of crazy stuff, including extremely racist or sexist shit in the general discussion. Still remember a guy openly claiming to beating the shit out of women in his posts and being unpunished for it.

Just like SRK, the FGC has an history of being ruthless. Especially given how immature it is and if you also take into consideration it's roots. Back when the FGC was still in the arcades where it was born, Combofiend was actually hated when he started playing. I heard some douchebags would even shake up the arcade machine he would play on just to make him lose. :p

Wow I guess I missed a ton. Does anyone wanna summarize what's going on? Or what happened yesterday?

I saw the Ono thing someone linked above.

I'm starting to feel like i'm part of this thing. Too little sleep, too many hours spent watching streams, and all that drama.

I don't think today can top yesterday as far as drama goes though, but then i had that thought yesterday too, so who knows?

Damn, that sucks. I could have swore I heard Spooky giving a overview on what Ono had to say and that SF5 was confirmed, just don't expect it for a while.

From playing it in person at a couple events, the animations are janky.
