I can't think of anything at all besides the obvious.

This could spark a SydGAF meet outside of the board gamers. Speaking of which, you could drop-in for some gaming of the non-electronic variety while you're up.
We nearly did set up a second SydGAF meetup the first time Marsh was coming down. His trip was cancelled so it fell apart.

But yeah, Marsh, come join us! We can always use another player. And even if you have no interest we will definitely attempt to get people interested in another full meetup...

Mad this for those curious of E3 presser local times:

Like Kotaku, the AU branch is great. Associate editor Laura Parker is probably the best source for anything involving the R18+ rating and legislative change in the industry.

It's a shame local people who might actually be competent at their jobs are overshadowed by the complete uselessness that is the US version of the sites in question.

Black Ops 2 looks ok

It might look ok, but it's about as exciting as toast for breakfast these days.

edit: OK, I sort of take that back. It looks completely stupid in all the right ways.

I'd probably happily buy a cheap offline only version of the game if it existed. Still, I could just buy the regular game cheap seeing as:
a) Activision arent dicks like EA
and
b) It's a safe bet.

In terms of the market of military FPS games:

Treyarch > Infinity Ward > Dice.

Which is only because treyarch actually seem to acknowledge they are making games, not manifestos on games as art and political commentary.

I guess it's akin to comparing Transformers, GI Joe and A Team films.

I have to admit, the CoD trailer did seem somewhat interesting, but at the same time there were parts of it that have that CoD look. I've played that game too many times before.

Hey, The story looks like it has some sort of continuity going between releases. That's better than any of the big nintendo games.

I do look forward to the E3 steam chat of why the fuck are we awake at 3am watching this terrible conference, this year. I will have to join IRC for the sony one since i'm sure I will be at work.

All 3 conferences should be a huge disappointment and i'm looking forward to them all.

Serrels, Elly, Logan and, formerly, Tracey being buried in a mound of Plunkett and Bashcraft articles shits me to no end.

I bet.

I'll also add that I suspect a lot of the people writing for kotaku us and all the other big blog sites like joystiq, giantbomb, gamespot, eurogamer, ign etc all have better standards than what they actually have to write. I accept that editorial policy is basically to generate clickbait and misquote at any opportune time.

But I still resent them for doing so.

The World at War ties and the twists in the story helped the BLOPs campaign seem different from the standard, boring, military shooter campaign.

I'll have to take your word on that. But I guess I care about the same for CoDs story as I care for the motivation of Toad in a Mario game and why he does what he does.

I've seen enough ham-fisted meta-discussion on war in Metal Gear, Splinter Cell and Halo games to do me for a lifetime.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
The real question is, who gives a shit?

No one, but someone brought something up earlier on Twitter that reminded me of it. Not a single fuck was given.

Though there are several Australian gaming sites in various stages of decay. Some people just don't have the heart or determination to do anything.

That's sad. We're doing pretty well thankfully, even if we still need a new front page.

New frontpage? As in a new design totally or just rearranging how the initial page looks?

New design totally. At the moment we're just using a slightly altered word press theme than you can spot on other websites. I want it completely overhauled. But we'll get there eventually.

If anyone wants a Diablo 3 Collector's Edition EB Games have just started selling the final batch online here

Get it while it's hot!

I've been looking around stores the past couple of days and everyone is sold out of the CE, so this might be the only chance to get one if you haven't pre-ordered yet.

Anybody have 2850 spare Nintendo points to give me for a gold nunchuck? :p

Thanks man. Oh look, work days. That is me out. At least I can quietly watch a liveblog of the Sony presser.

I guess I should be happy that this year I'm not unemployed during E3. Was a bit depressing.

To be honest I just haven't heard anything about them or seen anyone ever link to them.

Sledgehammer > Treyarch > (shell of) Infinity Ward > Dice
Fixed.

Also the first 2 Call of Duty's are still the most powerful FPS campaigns even with their outdated gameplay mechanics. Really well developed.

BLOPS should be around $20 soon as MW2 was that price not far out from the MW3 release, which is what got me hyped for it. Would pick up BLOPS at that price to try and get into it properly as my 3 day rental didn't move me on release.

You make it sound like story in games is at all important.
It is for me! I play games for the story and atmosphere most of the time, great mechanics are a wonderous thing but I usually play for the experience.

Serrels, Elly, Logan and, formerly, Tracey being buried in a mound of Plunkett and Bashcraft articles shits me to no end.
Would love to see a regional filter you could select so you only got KotakuAU content. I would actually visit a lot more often.

The World at War ties and the twists in the story helped the BLOPs campaign seem different from the standard, boring, military shooter campaign.
I found it dull and forgettable compared to the MW series to be honest.

It is a great site and I should check it out more often.

Yeah I recognized the theme, mines a off-the-shelf theme too with big modifications. I wanted a the Wordpress platform and the benefits of that up before I went for a custom design. At the moment its working well for us.

So it looks like i'm now getting calls from my bank about, what looks to be by googling the phone number, credit card insurance since they sent me out the info a few days ago.

So this is what it's like to own a credit card? How do I get out of this? I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Just a reminder on the Leisure Suit Larry thing...

10 hours left to make about $15,000. Be a part of history in adding a new girl and storyline to the original game.

Pledge here or donate via Paypal here.

Bastion is six bucks on Steam, or ten with the soundtrack. Did I just get Choc'd?

The LSL Kickstarter looks like it's $180k over what was asked for... Late rush or was the $15k for something else?

The 15k is to get a new girl and storyline added to the game. The number on the Paypal page has to get over $650k, which is about $14.7k away. There were just some big drops in funding, so I hope it still makes it, although it seems the Paypal site will stay open longer than Kickstarter, so there still might be time if it ends up nearly there...

LSL was never good, Maybe when you were 13 and omg potential nudity and girrrllssss. When you're 28, it's not all that enjoyable anymore. It's why we have reality and girls on trains.

I think I'm done backing things on kickstarter for now. Unless I see something that looks super awesome, I've throw enough money into it for now.

Dustforce is also $5 on steam, I might have to grab that tonight.
